Kewpie Mayonnaise 1kg $7.50 @ Coles (Select Stores)

900

Seen in Coles Toowoomba Northpoint. It’s not on their web site so I’m guessing it’s a promotional deal and may not be national. If you’re a fan of Kewpie (and I don’t know many people who aren’t) this is great value considering the normal price for 300g is $4.90.

Heaps of stock on the shelf as of 5pm this arvo.

Visit Sushi Plus Japanese in Centre Rd Bentleigh East if you're nearby. Run by an older Japanese couple, this place serves up some authentic Japanese cuisine at a great price. This isn't an advert; my wife and I eat there semi-regularly and are very impressed with the food. Don't let the decor put you off, the food is amazing.

        • Thanks, but a bit far👍
I guess you didn't check my location in the Profile😀

Have an invite to visit a small village I know in mountains North of Kyoto. My rice farmer friend's wife makes great okonomiyaki!

  • In my house we call this mayo "baby mayo"

  • Does anyone else get a bitter taste after the initial flavour profile? Don't get me wrong I like kewpie as it's similar to the mayo we get overseas (no vinegar taste) but it turns an otherwise enjoyable experience to a unpleasent one quick.

Maybe it was my dumb luck but I also have a thing where I can taste more subtle flavours compared to others around me so am not too sure where the blame lies.

Speaking of mayonaisse, does anyone else miss the P-R-A-I-S-E ads from the 90s?

  • Anyone know how long this will keep for after opening? Don't recall the smaller bottle listing this.

  • Saw it marked down to $6.50 at Showgrounds Coles in Ascot Vale this morning with plenty of stock on the shelf.

Anyone who thinks this is a deal clearly hasn't ever set foot in a larger asian grocery store / supermarket. The two major asian grocery chains in Perth (MCQ and NP) have 1kg Kewpie at $6 to 7 as an everyday price.

  • Does anyone else keep both this and another (Praise/Kraft) at home, this is a bit too sweet to eat with chicken etc, I usually eat it only with Japanese food.

    • This with chicken and lettuce and tomato in a sandwich is heaven for me.

Really cheap meal too but still fills you up and feels gourmet with the kewpie.
