Ok this is one is a bit odd. Just browsing my Amazon wish list and noticed that some of the cheaper international items I've been looking at no longer need a $49 minimum spend to qualify for free shipping (for Prime members). As an example - this bbq deflector plate.

It says T&Cs apply but I've looked around and can't find any. The 'deal' hasn't been emailed out and I can't see anything on the Amazon home page about it.

So yeah. Good opportunity I guess to buy some of those little things you can't find locally. If anyone has any feedback on the presentation of this deal let me know.

Edit: wakeupaaron found the T&Cs about 5 seconds after I posted this deal:

Promotion T&Cs

• The promotion is valid for a limited time only. Amazon reserves the right to cancel it at any time.
• Only Prime eligible items shipped and sold by seller "Amazon US" will be eligible for the offer when you checkout those items during the promotion period. If you do not purchase eligible items within the promotional period, you may not receive free shipping (below $49 threshold).
The promotion applies only to Prime eligible items shipped and sold by seller "Amazon US". It does not apply to any products sold by other sellers (including third party sellers and Amazon AU). For example, if the promotion applies to cookware offered by Amazon US, the same cookware offered by other sellers on the Amazon.com.au website do not qualify. In the event of a mixed shopping cart, shipping will be applied to those other items in accordance with Amazon’s standard delivery rates and charges.
• The Free Shipping promotion applies only to Amazon Prime (Australia) members.
• The Free Shipping promotion applies to orders shipped via Expedited International Shipping to a single address.
• Does not apply to orders placed with 1-Click.
• Void where prohibited

Only items sold by Amazon and fulfilled by Amazon can be shipped to Australia — and even then, some items are still mysteriously exempt for some reason.

Anything sold by a third party and fulfilled by Amazon is NOT eligible for shipping to Australia. It sucks, but it is what it is.

      • I wanted a khomo iPad cover which was listed as available to ship to my address but would error out as I took the cart through checkout..

I contacted customer support and within 24 hours they fixed the problem

        • +1

I've contacted amazon.us support dozens of times to fix whats on the page as shipping to oz - I have a consistent response of ZERO - nadir - not one - and that goes back long before the regressive border tax…

    • "Item was sold by third party but fulfilled by Amazon". Yes , unfortunately they are still blocked. Only items actually stocked by Amazon and directly sold by they can be shipped overseas. The cretins doing IT for them haven't figured out how to add a 10% GST to 3rd party items yet.

A lot of companies now sell directly through Amazon and won't allow Amazon or anyone else to list their stock on Amazon, so we cannnot buy without the hassle and extra expense of a shipping forwarder (Amazon still has the cheapest shipping overseas; though 5 years ago it was about 40% cheaper than it is now. Some shipping forwarders now won't accept anything with rechargeable batteries, or even supplements like Creatinine, BComplex Vitamins, Fish oil.

Some random stuff I've found during my browsing:

    Boom stand for mic: https://www.amazon.com.au/Neewer-Adjustable-Microphone-Suspe…
    12 decks of cards: https://www.amazon.com.au/Bicycle-Poker-Standard-Index-Playi…
Nice quality set of measuring spoons: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0758FH37D

Cards are a great deal. Bicycle make really nice ones, and are usually pretty expensive to get in Australia for just the one deck let alone a dozen.

      • I used to collect some of the fancier playing card decks (and Tarot cards, & Oakelkarten), but to avoid colossal shipping costs yyou need to use a shipping forwarder to consolidate multiple orders into a single box. I have weaned mself off the collecting now (not enough space left), and just collect digital things now.

    • I used to have one of those boom arms it broke after a month i doubt they any good if you have a heavy mic like i do (blue snow ball).

I'm confused I already have amazon prime so what is this?

    • +1

Surely the title explains everything you need to know?

Hint: Pay particular attention to what is bracketed.

      • -1

No sorry I thought you can order through Amazon au from Amazon us? Or has that changed what do you gain here are they asking to buy another prime for USA

        • Using the .com.au website you can get free delivery on items located in the US

          • -3

@Kozhutki: Yes i know that have done so in past with amazon.com.au and shipped to australia free. Obviously as im prime me member. Got you could not order stuff direct from usa site when they stopped but i believe do again.
So my point is what is this thread about getting prime again for australia for usa or something different.

            • +1

@bwatt72: i don't know what else I can say, i figured my comment was clear enough

            • @bwatt72: The free shipping for Australia Prime holders buying stuff from the seller 'amazon us' no longer has a min spend of $49.

              • -1

@Nice one baby: Ok so i can buy stuff less than $49 and still free shipping? Im pretty sure you could do this before buying through amazon au but from usa as i remember having an order which was $12 usd.
So im confused, but i know what you mean $49 and less free delivery.

                • +1

@bwatt72: With Prime you could always get free shipping on items of any value if they shipped from Australia but usually if they ship from the US you need to spend at least $49 to get free shipping. This promotion allows free shipping with Prime regardless of where the items ship from.

    • it's free international shipping through Amazon AU

  • Wonderful, got my sunnies finally.

    Pleasant surprise here : https://www.amazon.com.au/BIC-Ecolutions-Ballpoint-50-Count-…

    If remains at $7.70

    • Officeworks sells a 100-pack for $10. Not sure if they are the same BICs though.

      • Good point. Note that the 100 pack is 0.8mm though; 50 pack of 1.0mm is $18 at officeworks. Weird.

  • Great find, thanks OP

  • Thanks Op. Had something sitting in my saved cart for ages waiting for me to buy other things.

  • Fellow ozbargainers, now is the time to buy all those board games from overseas without incurring a delivery fee.

    • Which do you recommend?

      • +1

I just grabbed Sequence for $16.16 - fun game! Cheapest I've seen it is $25 at Big W.

      • +1

Azul is only $37.79 at the moment and its basically been the hottest game of the last 18 months or so.

You cannot go wrong, trust me.

  • This makes buying rolls of adhesive vinyl a lot cheaper. Do I need to stock up or is this a permanent deal?

    • Until 21 july I think

  • You can place more than one order can't you? Doesn't appear to be a one use per account which is good. Didn't want to place an order and then find something else later I should have included.

  • Any good watches under $25?
Haven't spotted any watch deals on ozb recently.

Cheers OP, have been eyeing this Ultimate Bar book for a long time and it's usually about 25 bucks but down to 14 today! All stars aligned :)

    • Cheers mate and cheers OP, grabbed this book too :)

  • Only managed to find a scuba diving hood to buy everything else under $49 had a cheaper local equivalent!

  • We're writing to inform you that your order from Amazon US has been cancelled

    • +1

do let us know if you get a voucher….

    • what was it and why?

  • The day a Amazon store was selling $10 Nickon cameras , computers etc everyone got 0 with cancelled orders .

  • Heads up that Amazon have been known to deliver international orders through Fastway, so if you're not at home 24/7 you might want to put in a work address if you ever want to see your purchase.

    • Why do you say that? Don't they divert the package to your local post office if you are not home to sign for the package?

      • I want to know this too as I cannot use my parcel locker.

    • +3

All of my Amazon US orders have been left at my front door.

  • +3

This is a good deal but it should be the norm tbh. So many times I find myself wanting to buy something internationally for $30-$40 and just missing out on the free shipping (with my prime) and just not bothering about it.

    • I just add items to my wish list until I hit the $49.

  • Nice deal.

Ordered 2 pairs of columbia shoes for a total of ~ $80 delivered. Great for me given few shops sell shoes in a size 15us here.

Hopefully we will see US Prime Day sales and pricing, filter through to amazon.com.au
The ending of the free US shipping coincides pretty well with the Prime Day sales.
My wallet might be hurting a bit in a week or so.

  • I noticed that my post office box is accepted during checkout but does this mean they use auspost? I thought they used couriers?

Fastway bendigo are notoriously shit (check the google reviews for some laughs) so unless I use something like parcelpoint by default for all amazon orders, I'll have to risk the courier roulette.

(I use a P/O as there is no front fence and (profanity) like to pinch parcels in my area despite the cameras..)

  • Finishing tonight at midnight (21/07/19).
