With a code like this, I'm guessing it's essentially like a sponsorship deal – they get Koala 1000 newsletter subscribers; Koala pays for 1000 coffees.
I think you meant the shopback deal? Not necessarily a code. Guessing it's partnership to get more new customers for both hey you and shopback. I have referred 2-3 people because of it myself

All in all, a pretty ordinary deal. Email came through suggesting you need to signup quick to be the first 1000 and get the coffee, then it turns out the code is generic. Not going to neg, but not a great one.
out of interest, how is a free coffee up to ~$5.50 from any nearby participant an "ordinary deal" ?
If "not limited to specific number of people" was a criteria for deals posted on OzBargain, then there'd hardly be anything posted.
A true OzBargainer will know that he/she can't win every time. Lots of deals go out-of-stock quick, or are targeted offer. There will always be the next bargain…..
I'm always up for a bargain but to post the second the email comes out is not allowing honest people to even try and get it.
