Skoda Superb Sportline MY18.5 VS Camry SL V6 MY17

So I am looking to spend about 35-37k on used car

Skoda Superb seems to offer best value on earth.
It has literally everything + 5 year warranty
0-100 in 5.8sec (some say 5.1sec in real life)
Basically Audi A5 Quattro drivetrain with cheaper interior

Camry is well Camry
Who even needs warranty on Camry
V6 is sweet and resale value should be better than Skoda

Any thougts?

Yellow on Stingers has known paint problems. i.e. falling off. Check it has been repainted and really haggle down.
Still a 2 year old car with poor rate of new sales.

    • Whats with the 3 star ANCAP rating on the stinger? Why so low?

      • Better than a mustang

      • The entry model S variants got 3 Stars, due to omission of safety equipment, the Si and GT variants got 5 stars.

      • You need two active safety techs (like AEB) to get above 3 stars for the current tests. It crashes the same as the 5 star stingers, but it won't avoid crashes like a recently tested 5 star car.

I've sat here for a while and still can't find the relevance of this to ops post.

  • Skoda if u want to ride in comfort & style but break down first. Camry if u just want car that will keep on going.

Hey I just got the Camry SL two weeks ago and I freaking love it

first of all, do what other said, test drive both and see which one u like and go from there

in my understanding, superb is not a cheaper interior a5…they share same platform, but built in different factory(QC control and labour skill), different in material that used for the body, engine parts, interior and exterior, and Audi quattro system dont share with other vw group

it will be unfair say a Audi just a more expensive interior of vw/skoda

dual clutch system (skoda) make u feel faster acceleration because fast gear changing, but it is hard to achieve the 0-100 that factory claim, tyre and atmosphere temperature are big factors, and dual clutch system is more costly to maintain/repair
and most of the road limit is 60 at least in sdyney and highway speed is 10 km/hr at 6am-6pm anyway

for camry, new gen camry look better inside and outside, but couples month ago when i tried, it feels like less headroom at the back seat, if that is important for u be sure to try it out

i dont think skoda/vw break that easy as internet say, (family currently own vw and toyota car), but European car in general require higher cost of maintance and less forgiving, so be sure do the service according the manual and NOT JUST CHANGING OIL

in my opinion, whatever car u getting should equip some active safety functions such as auto emergency braking, they may sounds
gimmick but it MAY save u from an accident in the future, remember everyone make mistakes

lastly i will pick a subaru libtery h6 over both ..full time awd over part time awd ..h6 over v6 and Harman Kardon speakers, and no i am not a subaru saleman, i just own one..
between two i will pick camry beacuse skoda service cost too high

    • Liberty uses CVT
      I can’t stand it

It’s the worst decision Subaru ever made

      • This, plus the a5 is full time AWD so not sure what he's on about.

        • First of all we are talking about Skoda vs Subaru not Audi..Skoda is a part time all wheel drive..

Normally, power is mainly transmitted to the front axle, which saves energy. However, in the event of an impending loss of traction, the rear axle is activated in a fraction of a second

          https://www.volkswagen-newsroom.com/en/4motion-all-wheel-dri…

Secondly new gen a5 is part time awd as well
Quattro Ultra has been developed as a fuel-saver that decouples drive to the rear wheels when only front-wheel drive is required, drastically reducing friction losses as the propeller shaft and rear diff are no longer turning.

I don't know what u are on about as well, at least try to Google before u try to make a point

  • My thoughts are anyone who buys a Skoda, must pronounce it correctly. It should be a requirement of sale.

  • What did you buy

I think I'm going for the Skoda
      Wish me luck

      • Treat the Dual clutch with kindness. avoid creeping in traffic jams when u can

        • Dry clutch in the MY18.5 Superb is fine.

      • Let us know in 6 years, outside of warranty :)

        • My 6 year old DSG is working perfectly - been out of warranty for 3 years now :)

10k is enough for a decent used car, invest the rest wisely

    • What if he has already invested wisely after driving around in a $10k beater for years and now wants to reward himself without jeopardising his financial position in the slightest?

      • ha! $10k would feel like a new car to me.. a beater for me is $1k car. :P
