Whirlpool 60cm Pyrolytic Oven AKP3840PIXAUS $224, AKZ97820IXAUS $419.50 + More C&C (Or + Delivery) @ The Good Guys

1800

Greetings everyone, just spotted this on The Good Guys website and seems like an excellent deal on these Ovens!

50% off a range of Whirlpool Ovens and Cooktops, and the products in the title seem to be great picks of the lot. Unfortunately these products aren't on their eBay store, but still awesome price.

Plenty of these products are their historical lows by a significant margin according to Price Hipster. They are much more expensive at the likes of Appliances Online also so these seem like awesome prices.

  • Caved in and pulled the trigger on new hob and oven :D

    Thanks OzBargain!

      Smart move

  • My current oven is hardwired in, just checked the back of it.

This new Whirlpool one requires a 15a plug, is that right?

  • Awesome deal! Just got the Pyrolytic oven and cooktop for $398. 1/4 the price of appliances online

    • So was this the $174 gas cooktop and the cheaper pyro oven? Just asking cos I couldn't figure out as per another comment if it qualified for 10% off or not.

      • +1

Ceramic cooktop AKT809BA and pyro AKP3840PIXAUS

  • Grabbed the last oven at Tempe. Had to call them to check stock as the stock levels on their website is useless :)

  • +1

Just ordered an oven and a cooktop, the timing was great. Thanks Harvey Norman for snaffling up the Whirlpool brand and prompting GoodGuys to dump their stock! With any luck I'll be picking it up and installing it tonight!

    • Even though the website said the store had it in stock, I didn't get an email and I called, and nobody was working at the 'warehouse' to confirm if it was in stock. I guess I'm waiting until they tell me it's ready to pick up.

  • Hi

If my existing oven is hard wired and the new one is 13a plug how big a job is it to changeover (for an electrician not me!)

    • New cable to switch board and breaker $250 apprx imo

      • maybe not even that if the current one is already on 15amp wire/breaker

    • It looks like TGG offers an install service for $190?

      • Bahaha… what a disgrace!

        • What's so funny?

They bring it to you, install it and remove the old one and rubbish?

You bring an electrician in, they charge $120 call out fee.

But, I know what you mean, easy enough to do it yourself.

          • +2

@RocketSwitch: Fair enough, but I thought this was Ozbargain, where you would click and collect on the way home from somewhere to save on delivery.

Then pull out old oven and sell it on Gumtree, or call council / recycler to come collect it as hard rubbish.

Then either plug it straight in, or turn off breaker, cut plug, attach wires like for like.

or spend the same cost of the over again, totally up to you.

*Note - If you have no idea what the words earth, neutral, live, 10A, 15A, 20A mean….DO NOT TOUCH IT…spend the $190.

    • You maybe able to just hard wire the new one in , I have not opened mine yet but some you can just disconnect
the plug lead at the oven which allows it to be hard wired in .

    • +2

Cut plug off, insert wires, turn 3 screws. Maybe 4 minutes work.

  • Thanks doweyy, got one of the $419.50 pyro ones on order.
Old oven (almost 16 years out of it) has not been closing properly for some time (couple of years) - gaffa tape to the rescue :)
Got told the other day that it is most likely hinges which would probably cost a few hundred to supply and fit.
Couple hundred more sees a brand new oven in place instead.

Just have to wait for "local"store to get some in, they had three on order already so hopefully not too long.

    • Got a call late yesterday afternoon from GGs to tell me the order was ready to pick up.
      Went and got it today.
Removed old one, checked power point and it was stamped as 20amp so able to plug new one straight in.
Currently running through the initial hour of heating for "release of any odours left behind during manufacturing" as recommended in the "USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME" section of the guide.

      Got the AKZ97820IXAUS model.

  • Hell yeah. In the market for a new oven. Bought the $419.50 oven and the gas cook top and had some $59.40 discount when I logged in. No idea if it's left over from something else, but not complaints here :) Thanks for the heads up

    • If you buy an oven and cooktop in one transaction you get an extra 10% off

      • I just put a deposit down on an oven and cooktop and asked about this, the girl at the front counter wasn't sure but will follow up for me.

  • Awesome, bought the $420 oven! Thanks.

  • +1

Appliances online have done the dodgy. Very disappointing. Was on live chat and asked if they would price match before they disconnected me without saying anything. I then refreshed the page and all ovens are now currently unavailable. Called up and supposedly they have been recalled by whirlpool.

  • Just bought the AKZ97820IXAUS pyrolytic oven and SMC653FBTIXL induction cooktop for $691.65

    Amazing value.

    Thanks OP :)

  • saw this on facebook page!! I brought a whirlppol last week, now another 50% off! I haven't picked it up yet! so I just brought thenext model up for less than I payed before.. just need to get a store credit for other one.. don't forget suncorp for extra 5% off

  • Ended up getting the cheapest non-pyro model. Even though it is not much price difference to the pyro model, I don't see myself using that feature.

  • Bought both the gas hob and pyro oven on Good guys and didn't get 10% off? Was there some code?

    • Which pyro did you buy? Looks like it just popped up automatically with the more expensive pyrolitic oven.

      • +1

        Ah the $224 one…

    Update

    I purchased the
    Whirlpool 60cm Pyrolytic Oven AKP3840PIXAUS $224,

On the site it said has plug
    It doesn’t just a cable

    • +2

weird i just bought home the more expnesive pyrolytic oven and it definetly has a plug.

  • Has anyones status moved past "BackOrdered"?

    • I ordered an oven today on backorder

  • I ordered a 60cm Gas hotplate via the TGG web site this afternoon.
I got a phone call from a nearby TGG store late this afternoon, saying they did not have stock, and could not get stock from any nearby stores.(My order had been sent to them???)
TGG stores that did have stock were too far away to send to the store phoning me (too expensive), so I had best cancel my order???

    Strange system.

The 60cm Gas hotplate seems now to have been removed from TGG web site.

    • Location?

      • +1

        Southern Sydney

  • Anyone got their order delivered? My order had been in 'processing in warehouse' for 2 days now. So called up the store and they said they have no stock and waiting for whirlpool to deliver…
    Waiting begins.

While my gas cooktop was delivered yesterday.

    • There is a big delay on ovens

  • Thanks for heads up, just orders the oven and induction cooktop

  • My oven was delivered today.

To let you know about the power… it comes as three bare wires.
I thought it would have come as a plug.

  • Mine was delivered today too ($224) model
As above - it has three bare wires.
Strangely it also has a tag/label on the lead that says "this appliance is equiped with a three prong grounding plug for your protection"…

  • The $224 came without plug, required wiring into junction box, easy straight forward install, pleasantly surprised by the features of this oven, like my phone, probably won't use half of them :) thanks OP

  • I'm trying to order but it won't let me do a C&C for my local store (maybe it's not in stock?). On the product page it says I can order and they'll get one in stock in 2-5 days, or do I just have to go for delivery?

    • I had the same problem - ended up paying for delivery. At the price, it seemed silly to miss the sale.

      • +3

I have managed to place an order over the phone - they have new stock coming in it sounds like.

  • Harvey Norman (Arisit) is taking over Good Guys the Australian distributor?

Even so, there is really a need to drop the stock at loss?

    https://www.channelnews.com.au/exclusivethe-good-guys-drop-w…

  • Thanks OP. bought an oven

  • Has anybody got notification to pick theirs up yet?

Heard nothing from one store where I ordered the Oven (via TGG site) and nothing since the "out of stock, on backorder" call from another for a cooktop via their eBay.

    • Heard nothing, been on 'BackOrdered' since last week here in SA.

I don't understand, I thought they were getting rid of all their shop stock - not ordering more from the manufacturer..

      • +1

That's what I'm kinda worried about, where they turn around and realise that's the whole idea so they can't get any stock, and just give a refund in the end. Unlike most quick bargain buys I was actively looking to fix my faulty kitchen stuff.

heh I remember at the time of ordering the site said can order now and pickup within 2 hours lol.

        • Same here mate! Fingers crossed…

    • picked mine up last night.. hope you get yours soon :)

  • What is the update here? The deal expired, ovens still listed on TGG site but now full price…?

My order status hasn't changed from backordered and it's been a week today… I phoned at the weekend and they said would definitely be receiving the order but couldn't say when..the staff seemed just as confused.

  • Just received refund from Good guys ebay :(

    • When and what did you order?

      • +1

Ordered NEW Whirlpool GMF6422IXL 60cm Gas Cooktop on the 4th through good guys ebay

        • So I called good guys up and they said the manufacturer isn't making the specific model gas cooktops anymore, hence the refund.

          • @CAPTCHHHA: I ordered the same hob from TGG site on the 4th but had no change in order. Also I know someone who got one ordered on the same day from eBay and it arrived 2 days later…

Not sure what they are playing at.. But not confident they know what's going on

    • Did you get notified or just happen to see some new credit appear in your Paypal/CC or whatever?

      • Got an email from my paypal.. I wasn't notified by good guys

        • Checked my eBay and say it was refunded already. No notification/email/calls/etc.
          This was for the cooktop.

Have heard nothing about the Oven order which was done via TGG site yet. They can't just refund that cos I paid with a gift card …

  • +1

Picked mine up today 👍 hopefully others get there bargain also as i was worried they might of overdone the orders and not enough stock..

  • How nerdy am I that when I see "Whirlpool", I think of the forums? :P

  • My order date changed from the 4th then to the 6th and now it says 12th July (today)

    Their website is poor!!!!

  • +1

I got a call to say the cooktop is unavailable and would I like to exchange for an Omega one of similar value… I said yes if you can get the oven… They told me its still on back order at Whirlpool.. Will phone be in Tuesday with an Eta.

How will this endeavour end? 🙂

  • +2

Funny, I received a call today from goodgys asking when I'll pick my oven up. I hadn't even received an email / sms!

  • Hi purchased the Whirlpool 60cm Pyrolytic Oven
AKP3840PIXAUS we have used a couple of times with temp of 180 degrees the cooling fan keeps going for about 20 -25 mins after we switch off . Anyone else have this is it normal .
    Thanks

    • +1

Yeah I got the same model and it vents the heat out for a very long time after use.

My old oven never did this…

      I'm guessing it's normal since there's 2 of us now :)

      • Where is the oven made?

        • italy.

          • @SeVeN11: AKP3840PIXAUS oven for $224 is made in Poland

    • I had the same issue and it drove me nuts. I called Whirlpool and complained - they will send out a tech to check, but now I’m thinking it’s “normal”.
Anyway - workaround is to let the oven cool (silently with no fan on) slowly by switching it into the yeast rising mode & temp rather than switching it off completely
This results in the oven cooling slowly to around 30-40deg (I think) and from there you can switch it off without the fan spinning up.

      • Great idea 👍 mine is now cooling for around 10mins with door open . Will be interesting to see what the Tec has to say . Please report back 👍

I got a call this afternoon to say my oven is ready to be picked up. We ordered through the store not online.
They must be getting new stock in now.

  • Edited - double post

  • my order was cancelled on the 13th as no stock available even though it said available. Did not even get an email or phone call, i had to to follow up with them this morning to see where my order was. Rubbish service.

  • I just got a call and arranged for mine to be delivered tomorrow but it took a lot of calls to get this sorted out… and I have had to get an alternative cooktop.

  • My new oven AKP3840PIXAUS worked for sometime then started to show F24 error code, the company is asking for the electrician certificate or it will charge me $150. Can we return it back within 2 weeks to Good Guys, something like in Ikea?

    • Did you hard wire it in or attach a plug to the end ? Try turning off at fuse box for 1min and see if it resets .
Mine would cool down for like 20 -25 mins reset via turning power off at breaker now takes 5-10 mins
Not that impressed with it so far
      Cheers

      • The reason the fan blows for 20 min is to cool down the motherboard switch section not the oven, it has 2 fans one in the oven the other on top for electronics.

I dont have the separate switch for the oven, one main wire is shared with hot plate cooktop and the oven. Seperate plug for the oven though. And the wire for cooktop is connected from the back side of a power switch.

    • I had the same issue - F24 error for a few days.
then E01 for a few times and haven't seen anything since.

switched off from mains, and let it sit for a minute or 2, then switched it back on… seems good so far…

  • What's the general cost of installing a 15a circuit?
And to cap off the gas?

  • Just picked up my pyro oven- no one had contacted me- I had to chase it.

Still no contact for the gas hotplate- the order is still showing in the GG system, but I am not holding out much hope.

  • We just had the glass on the door of the pyro oven explode during a pyro clean, has anyone else had this happen with these whirlpool ovens?

    • Wow what model? Hopefully they will replace under warranty.
Let us know what they say 👍

      • +1

The one with temp probe. Yep but they not in a rush to fix it

Was the two of the internal glass (out of 4 of them) that shattered on the eco pyro clean

  • My order for the Gas cooktop was cancelled today. So it goes.
