    • Lemme know where you can get them all on hard copy…. and those that you can, let me know if you can share them on a second console…

      • You can do the dual console thing on Switch too?

        • +2

Yep was added a little while back, have 2 consoles myself for that very reason. Was hoping for it the moment they came out as I'm 100% digital.

          • @scuderiarmani: Does it work the same way as PS4. Primary console swapsies?

            • @ONEMariachi: Yep - pretty much same as PS4 & XB1. Primary console can play offline & online on any profile, 2nd console needs to be online with purchasing profile to verify the licence.

              • +2

@Linkwick: From what I'm reading, it seems only one person can play the game at once? With PS4 both people can play the game online at the same time, and play multiplayer with one another?

                • +1

@ONEMariachi: You wouldn't both be able to use the same profile online at the same time (& though you can do it with the primary one offline it may stuff around with game saves etc. if playing the same title & you have cloud saves).

But someone can use a different profile (Profile B) on the "home"/primary console, & the purchasing profile (Profile A) logged in online on a second console. You should even be able to vs each other online, as long as you're 2 different profiles. :-)

                  • @Linkwick: Would this mean that the person who has bought the bulk of the games would need to always have their console online if they wanted to do this?

                    • +1

@snoopydoop: Yep, which if at home isn't a problem though.

                      • @scuderiarmani: Damn, my brother has pretty much every major Switch title and I've been thinking of getting one. But I don't want to have him unable to use the device without internet :(

Is there any other circumstances in which this would be possible to a lesser degree where he can still use it offline?

                        • @snoopydoop: Not that I'm aware of. Maybe they'll change it more with the lite version but dont hold your breath.

    "sale"

    • +14

A lot of these games are all time low for the system.

Just because those games may not specifically appeal to your personal tastes doesn't make it less of a deal.

      • +4

It might have something to do with their prices compared to other platforms.

  • +14

fooled me - thought Splatoon 2 was $21… only the expansion is..

    • +1

Its a good value DLC at full price. If you like the game I highly recommend it.

    • Thought the same, title is a bit misleading

  • +8

HELLA YEAHHHH, BOTW DLC is never discounted, been waiting for ages. instant buy

    • +1

Is there any issue buying this before I actually manage to finish the original game?

      • +3

The DLC have additional items that might make your game a bit easier. Completely up to you if you want to use those said items. Personally, I don't think it will ruin your experience.

If you are asking if there is any technical issues with getting the game with an unfinished base game, then no.

        • Do you have to start over if you install the DLC or does it just update the base game and you can use the old save game files?

Is the DLC "pass" only for a limited time or forever?

          • +1

@serpserpserp: Adds things to the base game like additional 'dungeons' and some missions.

Its a one time purchase, once you buy it you unlock the content for all future playthroughs on your device.

          • +1

@serpserpserp: Yup. Like sethowar said. It updates the base game and yes, you use your old save file, there is no need to start over. I've personally played the game near launch, got the DLC when it came out and continued with my original save file.

The DLC once purchased, is forever.

          • @serpserpserp: Updates the base game with extra bits

      • i dont think so, if anything i think its worth buying it now. theres a pretty cool feature which allows you to track your movement on the map so you can see where youve been exploring.

theres a motorbike that allows you to move faster.

The other shrine DLC is accessed by going to somewhere on the map. Someone may correct me, but this is from my understanding.

      • The dlc is made to be done throughout a normal playthrough, more or less. So I'd say do it before you finish the game. If nothing else it's worth getting it straight away for the location history/map, it's great watching back through everywhere you've run.

      • +1

Nah. Besides you get some items that are useful in the main quest itself.

      • If you want to play Master Mode (hard mode) then you need the DLC.

    • +1

Splatoon 2 octo expansion is never discounted too (I think). Going to get this and Katamari Damancy

      • Awh yeah katamari

    Yeah, another "sale" from Nintendo

Crayola Scoot is definitely worth a look if you love the OG Tony Hawk games as much as me. Nowhere near as good as THPS2/3, but it's leagues above THPS5, and I actually didn't mind THPS5 myself. Definitely worth a look on YouTube if you miss over the top skating games like me.

    • I was thinking the other day how much I want THPS on Switch. Looks like Tony Hawk x Splatoon x Jet Set Radio.

      • +1

I would love it. I played the ever loving shit out of Tony Hawk on my PSP in the day, it was an absolute blast on portables, and when the Xperia Play was my main phone, all I did was play THPS3 and Vice City. God I miss that phone.

Anyway, Crayola is kinda what you said, yeah. So you ride around on your scooter and you have to do tricks and grinds and shit like THPS, and there's a boost button that works the same as SSX, but when you do tricks (including grinds) you spray your paint over the nearby area. Most missions boil down to covering as much area or doing as many tricks as you can, it's pretty basic stuff. But it scratches the itch. I picked it up on the last sale and had fun with it. It's very clearly a knock off, but it doesn't really try to hide that, there's other knock off games like Street Skater on the PS1 that have the look and sound of THPS (I actually quite dug the soundtracks in those two SS games) but their gameplay is a whole other thing in the end. The only thing I really fault this Crayola game on is the controls. I don't remember them exactly off the top of my head, but you hit triangle to grind like normal, but to jump you push the right stick up, and I think doing tricks is done by like spinning the stick or pushing it left and right, the controls suck because when you get in the rhythm you'll be going to instinctively hit the THPS buttons which is high praise honestly, me saying your game can at times feel perfectly like an old THPS game, but the new controls just throw me off and sure you'll get the hang of it, but I really wish there was a way to swap the controls to whatever I want them to be.

FYI: The Messenger includes a free expansion DLC released today - great value for a fun indie title!

    • Is the messenger good? It's been on my radar fir a little bit. But I read in reviews it gets repetitive/monotonous.

      Understood it's half metroidvania ?

For context I loved Hollow Knight, Celeste and donkey Kong.

  • Thanks - finally bought Crash.

  • Will be picking up the Messenger, but also Bomberman, Crash, Diablo & DB FighterZ simply to keep these digital and sell the physical versions!

  • +1

Got N++ and Cities Skylines, thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP. Been waiting for Splatoon 2 to drop in price.

  • +3

It kind of sucks that the Kairosoft games are so pricey. I own them all on my phone and would love them on my switch. But not paying $15 for a 7-year-old game that was $7 on Android and is now $1 or free.

    • +1

I know right, a lot of mobile games have come to the Switch that I would be more than happy to pick up at a slightly lower cost.

  • After hearing that Fire Emblem Three houses will be 80+hrs long, I feel like I need to show some restraint here and not add more to my already cluttered backlog.
It does tick some of my wishlisted items though..

  • Highly recommend Art Of Balance at $8.99 - it was a great when it came out on the Wii, then on the Wii U, now on the Switch haha

I haven’t played the Switch versions, but i enjoyed the PC versions of these games when i played them: PixelJunk Monsters 2, Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf, Jotun: Valhalla Edition, Riptide GP: Renegade & N++.

    • +1

Just impulse bought Art Of Balance after your post, looks like it could be a fun time waster. Contemplating Mario+Rabbids too…

  • +1

    Some of my picks:
    911 Operator Bundle $4.84 86% off
    MagiCat $1.75 77% off
    A Robot Named Fight $2.99 82% off
DLC for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker $6 33% off

    • A Robot Named Fight $2.99 82% off

Really good game at that price if you like the metroidvania and roguelite genres.

  • +5

Baba Is You is a fantastic, unique puzzle game. Definitely recommend it, it gets super hard and has a lot of fun twists.

    • BABA IS YOU is easily my indie game of the year. The lateral thinking required to solve some of the puzzles will turn your brains inside out. I wouldn't recommend this game for younger gamers, but if you enjoy a challenge and are ok sitting with a problem for a few days the difficulty makes progress very satisfying and rewarding.

I have spent over 70 hours on the game - it's a steal for the original price let alone on sale.

  • +4

Just a heads up, if you're like me and got Splatoon 2 from somewhere like Ozgameshop (or any other imports) chances are the DLC on the Australian eShop won't work with your copy of the game. You need to buy it from the region that matches with the cart (you can tell if the region is correct by going to the game tile and clicking the eShop button, if it errors out or shows as unable to purchase you have the wrong region)

This doesn't extend to Breath of the Wild as I believe that game is region free

    • Thanks for the heads up - that would explain a few things, like why I couldn't get the free items from the news posts.

  • +2

BotW DLC has never been on sale and of course I bought it last week.

  • +2

Sigh need to get a 400gb micro SD card for my switch.

  • +1

Don't forget to get Tiny Metal Full metal rumble for $21 $17.85

    If you like advanced wars

    • Do you know how that compares with Wargroove (also meant to be a throwback to Advance Wars)?

      • I don't know just bought it lol

      • I heard it's not that good. Wargroove on the other hand is excellent and pretty much a spiritual successor to AW.

  • Anyone know whether Super Bomberman R is worth it for $31.50? Seems a lot to pay just for Bomberman.

Also, I've said this before, but damnit Nintendo, put the Mario + Rabbids DLC on sale already.

    • Not worth it imo. I thought I was a Bomberman fan and have played the OG Bomberman as a kid.

The single player game is around 4 hours long and it is pretty much online or local multiplayer. Game felt meh.

I would recommend spending that money on overcooked instead for better couch co op fun

    • I bought Bomberman r about a month ago for $40, probably not worth it, its not the best version of bomberman, unless you are able to get some 4 player local co-op i wouldn't recommend.

  • Are eshop cards still discounted at bigw or did that end already?

    • It's ended. Discounts usually pop up around every 6 months or so going by previous history.

  • Any good local co-op games on sale that people would recommend?

    • +2

      overcooked

      • Overcooked is bloody hilarious co-op.

        • any other games you recommend? Got overcooked and mario kart already.

  • How much is botw expansion normally and is it worth it? I've finished the main storyline already

    • I'll wait for the BOTW II

    • I think it's normally $30 or close to it - it adds a decent amount of content to the game and is well worth picking up IMO. Also adds master mode which is fun for a second playthrough and it's actually my preferred way of playing the game now whenever I come back to replay it.

  • Resident Evil 4 for $26 seems a good price? Anyone recommend the switch version for this much?

    • Great for those who has played it in the gc,PS2,PS3,Wii version or those who are playing re4 for the first time.

If you have it for the Xbox one or PS4 then no..it's the same ported over or if you have the PC version as PC re4 hd is the best version which has hd texture option.

  • Does anyone recommend Cities Skylines on the Switch?

    • A couple of performance issues compared to the Xbox version iirc - mainly once your city is on the larger side or you zoom in all the way. It’s still good fun though.

  • South Park gold edition also on sale quite cheap, probably worth the extra $10 to get the season pass as well, game is good fun!

  • +1

I remember all the doubters against the switch on release. Have a look at the massive success it’s had with a huge library, just nice to reflect on.

    • +2

I don't know if there were as many doubters as you make out. But yes, you can reflect a a large number of expensive ports such as Diablo III ($59.95 usually $89.95), you are extremely fortunate.

      • Lots of review sites at the time dubbed the game selection limited and the portability of a console a risk to try

        • Ok, well those sites you visited were obviously out of touch with consumers.

  • +2

    Sweet! Just picked up:

    Mark of the Ninja
    Night in the Woods
    Baba Is You
    Fast DMX
    Surgeon Simulator
    Dragon's Lair Trilogy

  • Probably not the right place to ask, but I will anyway… can anyone recommend me a new game? Pretty much been playing Zelda, odyssey, tried steamworld dig (got over it quickly). Never no where to start? What’s a good game to pick up next? If it’s in here that’s a bonus!

    • My most played switch game by a considerable margin is Splatoon 2. A solid single player campaign (plus the excellent octo expansion), turf war, some ranked modes, and salmon run (co op horde mode). Still a very active player base too.

    • +2

If you enjoy the puzzles in Zelda but want something a bit more challenging you can't go wrong with 'BABA IS YOU'. If you enjoy strategising and thinking through difficult choices I recommend 'Into the Breach'. If you want to adventure in a beautiful world with some of the most stunning graphics on Switch then 'Hollow Knight' is a real treat.

      • +1

        'Into the Breach'

+1 on this. I completed one playthrough once and had enough. But only recently I went back into it to complete more playthroughs and unlock different squads and is becoming even more addictive.

It really works out the brain when figuring out how to efficiently move and attack.
