Amazon.com has Timex Men's South Street Sport Watch (T2N105) on sale for USD$9. Thats $14.25 on the Australian site. Shipping is free with Amazon Prime (ends today). Dispatches within 1 to 4 weeks.

Mod: Price error. See comments. Those that purchased should receive cancellation email, a refund and $5 credit.

    I hate how business now choose what orders they want to fulfil and what they want to cancel. The “price error” is a very convenient excuse with online shopping and gets business free marketing. What makes it worse is how long they took to cancel orders. This suggests to me there was no price error.

    • The law/ Consumer Act needs to change to only allow a specific timeframe (eg 3 business days) for a business to declare "pricing error" but the way some businesses go with pricing error is ridiculous.

      Amazon tho are quite classy: you aren't charged until order confirmed + always give you credit for pricing errors.

        A sales contract is in place when you make an order, regardless of if you have been charged.
        Secondly the credits are getting smaller. This time it is $5 and considering this was during a promotion for free overseas shipping, something which you can't get at present, then if is far from adequate compensation.
        Finally over a month delay is unacceptable, funnily enough when I spoke to Amazon today they refuse to say why there was a delay.

    Same. Got an order cancellation email. What about the refund? My card was charged $17.99 on the date of purchase (22nd Jul) but in the email, they said I haven't been charged. Has anyone encountered the same situation?

    • it's just pre-authorisation I reckon but your card wasn't actually charged

      But the watch was $14.25. Are you sure it is not for another order?

    • 100% no charge here, double checked after you mentioned. Are you sure you're not looking at an Amazon purchase for something else around the same time? If you ordered something else a few days earlier it might have taken until the mentioned date to authorise and show up on your statement.

    Cancelled. I contacted them just before the email came through and they gave me an extra $10 so $15 all up.

    Not too bad but still pretty poor form cancelling over a month later.

  • I have been looking forward to this item but unfortunately today I received an email from Amazon saying it was a pricing error. However not all is lost got a $5 dollar credit from them.

    I called up and they managed to let me choose another Timex model as well as expedited the shipping and use priority international.

    All up I'll still be paying $14.25. :)

        That I got this as a gift and this purchase was intended for a family friend (which they will also be leaving the country in a week from now).

        I also told them I didn't have the time to go around and do the shopping and for them to wait for over a month to cancel it on me the last minute leaves me with no gift.

        So they gave me Priority shipping and another Timex model I can select from their listing to choose from for the price of $14.25

  • I chatted with the support, they said order the item again at full price and they will apply a credit of $50.

    • You are lucky, I had a chat with 6 different customer service agents and none accepted to pay more than the already issued $5 if I re-order a watch.

      • I called them this afternoon and the guy I talked to told me he added another $5 credit to my account on top of the first one, and now that I added something to my cart there's only $5 credit there. A number of people were lucky to get extra $10 on top of the $5 they got initially. Well, at least we tried.

      Ive tried several customer service agents who have not nudged at offering the $5 credit

      • Just tell them that you want to buy an alternate to the one that got cancelled and what's the best they can do.

        • Did that a couple of times already with a few amazon reps and the response was it was a price error so the $5 credit was all that they can do

            I told them that I was very disappointed that the order got cancelled and it is the first time I have encountered this. I was really looking forward to getting that watch…

            Don't know what ticked in the brain, the consultant said let me check what I can do, and then offered me to give a $50 credit if I bought the watch again.

    Ordered the watch (black dial). $50 credit applied to my account. $5 credit from cancelled order. Ended up costing $9.
