Samsung M2020W Mono Laser Printer $38 + Delivery (Free via Shipster) or Free Pickup @ Harvey Norman

2080

Link works again!

Samsung M2020W Mono Laser Printer $38 @Harvey Norman.

It has NFC tap and print, Samsung mobile print, Google Cloud print, Air Print, and WiFi Direct.

Expensive to run from what I've read, but cheap enough as a throw away I suppose, unless you buy cheap generic toner cartridges - some as cheap as $18 on eBay - found another one for $12 and free postage (thanks to everyone who posted links to some of these cheap cartridges in the comments)

Delivery is $5-15.

Unless you can pick one up in store for free by using click and collect at checkout.

Delivery is also free with Shipster if you have it (thanks to people who pointed that out in comments).

Ps. This deal is different from the one posted a few months ago for $48, and is now expired.

This one is another 20% off, and is now a clearance item.

Original deal that I posted earlier: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/473558

ok printer, i have this one

    • Good to know, because I just bought one, and I was worried a bit about the quality since it's so cheap.

  • +3

thanks OP, got free postage via Shipster!

  • +4

Got one, cheers OP. Fed up with my inkjet printer that keeps clogging up as I only occasionally use the print function. I'll still keep it as a scanner.

  • can anyone help me to buy via shipster. thank you so muchh

    • You can't sign up anymore. Existing members can only use it until the end of this month.

So, unless you have family, friend, or neighbor you can trust who have Shipster, you won't be able to use it.

I had a look at the Shipster page and there was nowhere to sign up, the page is there just to help existing members until Shipster closes on the 30th.

      • I got one, but I cancelled the subscription so it doesnt allow me to have free shipping :(. Is there anyone has account and buy 2 of these in Brissy so I can pick it up ?

  • Delivery was $14.95 in VIC. Must be coming from another state?

    • Is that a rural area?

I checked delivery prices at checkout and it was about $5 to Brisbane, and just under $10 for delivery to my address (in the suburbs, about 30kms from Brisbane)

      • 6km from Melbourne CBD

        • Yikes. That's strange. And very expensive.

I'm not sure how they work out delivery fees anymore (maybe they did run out of stock in your State like yuou said, but I would expect shipping prices to be the same regardless which capital city).

        • Checked it again at checkout and delivery price has increased fir me too!

Brisbane was $5 now it's $10, and my address was $10 now $15.

          • @BooYa: My guess is that local stock has sold out and it's now coming from another state.

            Thanks for checking again!

            • @sena86: I think you're right.

It looks like there is no more stock in QLD in stores near me or near the city.

    • Same for me too in NSW, wonder if its stil lworth it at $52.95 price tag.

      • I thought I saw the same one at Bing Lee eBay at 20% sale (it was still more expensive than $38 but if you can get cheaper delivery from them you might be better off getting it from them because I think it was $49 there).

Btw I think it would still be worth $50 judging by the reviews on the Harvey Norman page

Edit: no it wasn't at Bing Lee, I just checked, I must have seen it somewhere else (but the price difference would be minimal if you had to pay delivery for the other one too).

    • +1

Same… $14.95 to Melbourne (not rural) but thankfully i have Shipster :)

  • Does it do duplex?

    • +1

      No.

Well, it does, but manually (you have to turn pages upside down and feed them through again, half way through).

That's one feature I really miss - auto duplex - but I have only seen that on the more expensive printers.

      • Yep, I've got the Brother HL-1110 and that's my biggest grievance.

Is that what the 'mono' means in the name?

        • -5

          Yes.

  • There is about 8 left at Harvey Norman Everton Park QLD

    • That's where I ordered for free click and collect, but 10 minutes ago it said there were none left in Everton Park.

Just checked again and it still says none available for pickup from Everton Park for me.

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • I remember the last printer that was like this from ozbargain like 5+ years back, still using it today! Let me see if I can find it

      • :O

      • +1

In case anyone's unaware, that's a rebadged Brother HL-1110 which is still sold in some places but for around $50-60.
They're great for students or anyone who only prints basic things like bills and receipts.

    • Yes, the major difference being neither that one, nor the Brother printer, have wireless connectivity like this Samsung, and they must be connected to a PC at all times to function.

But the print quality of the Brother printers was outstanding.

      • Doesn't have to be connected to a PC. Connect it to your router if it has a print server feature. Wireless printing for all. That's how my 1100 is hooked up.

  • +4

Heaps of eBay stores selling toner for this model, starting at $22.90 https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1…

  • Does it scan? Doesn't look it but just wanted to make sure.

As looking for wireless laser printer that scans.

    • +1

No it doesn't scan, it's only a printer.

You are probably looking for a MFC (multi function centre) or something similar.

  • Duplex?

    • Manual duplex only

  • Page not found.

    • Found stock in local store
      when placing the order, redirected to 404 ;
      lukily saved money.

  • Gone

  • Sorry, your order has been delayed. It shouldn't take too long. We'll contact you as soon as it's ready.

    Back-Order :(

    • +1

At least they didn't cancel your order, better than nothing I guess, you could always cancel it if it takes too long.

Which reminds me - I need to ring the store where I'm picking it up tomorrow, to see if they put it aside for me.

Edit: yep, they are holding one for me to collect tomorrow (I used the free click and collect instead of delivery).

      • Printer arrived at local store on Wednesday, picked up the printer yesterday - didnt have to wait long :)

  • +2

    The link works again!

    Still $38.

Had a quick look, and it looks like they have no stock in store (at least nowhere near Brisbane) but I was able to add one to my cart, and order it to be delivered.

I got as far as payment details (didn't go any further because I didn't want to buy another one).

    • no stock dang it!@!#

      • Not even for delivery?

I was able to add one to my cart/basket, and then I was able to go to invoice page to enter my payment details.

At which stage did it show up no stock available? After entering payment details?

I'd check but I don't want to buy another one.

        • Just ordered a minute ago and received email from HN, saying it's currently being reviewed by our team :(

          • +1

            @gm3stevens: That's normal.

Next you should get an email with estimated time for pickup/delivery.

Then a third one when it's ready for pickup in store (for those who chose click and collect).

In my case I got the second email 5 hours after the first one, and I got the third email 7 hours after the second one.

I rang the store to confirm my printer will be available for pickup tomorrow, and I asked if they had any more in stock, and they said no because it's very popular and they're pretty busy with it.

So it may take some time to process the orders.

            • @BooYa: Thanks BooYa!

              • @gm3stevens: No worries mate. Hope they sort everything out for you.

I haven't come across any posts that said someone's order was cancelled after it was processed.

  • +3

Good printer, I have mine around 4 years and it works well even with unofficial toners that are 2-3 times cheaper than original.

    • Good to hear as I just bought one. Are the unofficial toners noticeably different in quality than the original?

      • +1

I hear not as much as the inkjet printers.

This is just a black toner, so I wouldn't think you'd see much difference in colour.

I'm not sure about things like smudges, etc, but at $12 for a generic cartridge I'll check it out.

      • I cannot spot a difference, to be honest.

  • +1

    Coffs Harbour have heaps.
    Postcode 2450

    • +1

      Thanks.

So, people not living in the area should at least be able to order one, and have it delivered.

      • I tried to PM, but said you were overseas.

        • Sorry. I was just testing a new VPN (PureVPN), so I might have had an overseas IP for about 5 minutes, and I didn't close Chrome with OzBargain still on it

Btw. I got the VPN on special for $0.99 a month (the deal is here somewhere on OzBargain).

          • +1

@BooYa: I figured it must be something to do with a VPN. Out of interest it still says overseas. ;-)

            • @BewareOfThe Dog: Really?! I'll do an IP check (I thought the page loaded a bit slower than usual).

            • @BewareOfThe Dog: It says I'm in Australia using Telstra ISP which I am (so no VPN is active), but it says I'm in Canberra while I'm in Brisbane.

The IP address looks like my normal one.

Maybe the app is buggy and left a proxy open or something.

  • +2

Cheers I grabbed two. I have the Brother MFC-9335CDW colour one which I love but at $39 it was worth having a few spare Mono ones in the cupboard as spares.

    • +1

Maybe grab some generic toner cartridges while you're at it?

The cheapest one I saw was $12 and free delivery.

  • Also where are the $12 toner cartridges people are commenting about? The links I follow show a bottle of toner to $12….

    • That $12 deal might have been for a bottle of toner refill, and not the actual cartridge (even though the picture clearly shows the whole cartridge).

The average price for these seems to be around $20 on eBay.

  • Expensive to run from what I've read, but cheap enough as a throw away I suppose

And the environment will love you for it.

    • The environment will love the manufacturer for selling printers below cost to make them look like a bargain, and then extorting replacement cartridges that cost several times what the printer cost.

      • -2

You're not saving money by throwing away printers to landfill when the starter toner runs dry. Its capacity is much less than a replacement toner.

Either use a generic, or pay up. As you said, you already got the printer below cost, so you should have money left over to buy a toner and pay the same overall as you would if printer manufacturers sold printers more expensive but toners cheaper.

If you're already wise enough to be conscious of how the industry operates, maybe don't do what they are tempting you to do?

        • +2

Don't tell me what I should or shouldn't do with my own money.

          • -2

@BooYa: I can't stop you from creating more landfill if that's what you want to do or you believe that its the cheapest way to print pages. Just informing you that you aren't saving money in the process because the starter toner is a few hundred pages at most. Especially when a generic toner works just as good and isn't priced extortionately. $38 to print a few hundred pages vs ~$25 to print 1-2 thousand. Dump 5 printers per 1 toner life if you prefer.

            • -2

@lostn: I didn't ask for your directions before, and I didn't ask for your advice this time either.

So, I'd appreciate it if you started minding your own business.

Stop worrying about what I do with my possessions, and my money.

What on earth makes you believe that you know how I save money anyway?!

You doing the maths makes me laugh, because you either think I didn't think of this before, or you take me for an idiot.

I repeat - I buy dirt cheap printers (often as cheap as $20-25) as throw away printers after the cartridge in it is used up, and no amount of your 'helpful advice' will change that.

Just deal with it mate, and move on.

  • any1 else having probs adding to cart? Just sits there spinning…

    • Yes.

When I tried that, it said that the site is under short routine maintenance, and to come back soon.

Now there is no maintenance notice, but they must still be working on it, because I can go to the page, but I can't do anything when I'm there.

      • wont even load cart either.. was in there a few minutes ago but knackered now…

        I'll persist..

        • Yes. The whole site is affected.

        • It's working again.

          • +1

@BooYa: Cheers mate, was busy 'checking out'.

            Thx for the deal btw…

  • +1

Thanks to OP. Just ordered, with Shipter - free shipping.

Can anyone recommended where to get replacement toner?

  • I'm getting $48 and $14.95 shipping.

    • +1

Lol, typical Gerry - a clearance item gets listed on ozbargain so they jack the price.

  • Anyones delivery order been sent yet?

    Mine is still processing.

    • Same here, still processing.

      • +1

Just got an email, being delivered today by Fastway.

    • +1

      mine too, ordered on 28th.

    • +1

I got mine today, but it was shipped from directly from a store.

  • +1

Got delivered yesterday.. courier guys said great deal on OZB and he ordered one too..

  • +1

Still listed as "clearance" but price now jacked to $99, lol.

    • Lol. Was listed for $48 for a while after the $38 sale …

Btw. I think this was one of the most convoluted printer installations I've ever performed (with new firmware and all the drivers and software from the HP website).

Also, made in China (I would have preferred S.Korea or even Vietnam), but works well.

Overall not bad value at all if I can get the toner cartridges for around $20.

  • I need to get a replacement toner cartridge, for when the one that came with the printer runs out..

Can someone recommend a reliable and reasonably priced seller?

    Thanks.
