Free Coffee with Any Reusable Cup 6/8-2/9 at 7-Eleven

8290

Just got my morning coffee from 7/11 with by keepcup and was told by the attendant that next month all coffees with a reusable cup will be free. So a whole month of free coffees if you use a reusable cup.

He didn't mention anything about it being only linked to their branded rCups, and I wasn't using one today, so doesn't look like that's the case. But maybe someone associated with the store can confirm.

Offer available only to customers filling their own reusable coffee cup made of multi-use plastic or glass and suitable for hot liquids. Make sure your reusable coffee cup is clean. Not in conjunction with any other offer. Valid to 02/09/19.

Anyone got an idea of how much it'll trickle down to destroy 7/11 employees even further?

    • +6

      7

      • +5

7 employees are destroyed, per every /11 free coffees we drink.

I only got 10 coffees, so I believe if you do the math, 6 employees were 'destroyed' , then 1 was left half the man he once was .
Not a bad effort for a Monday morning ,😁

  • +4

Every 7 Eleven will be hell for a month, especially in the morning.

    • +2

When the Slurpee machines are smashed on the boiling hot days of summer it is much more close to 'hell' .
I feel sorry for the poor guys having to clean up, people sending their kids to fill Slurpees unattended and melted Slurpee all over the floor (then walked in between machine and register) ..

    • They already are in the city.

    • I doubt it. Most likely no one will take up this offer, and when you go to 7/11 you'll have to explain it to the attendant.

  • +6

The queues are going to be out of control

    • You overestimate how many people use keep cups at most 7/11's. Do you live in Kew or something

      • +1

Queue looked pretty standard at 6:40 this am today at my local.

  • +3

Does the clean jerry can in the back of my van count as a 'Reusable Cup' ?

    • +3

As long as its made of multi-use plastic or glass suitable for hot liquids as per T&C

  • +1

The promo images say that your cup should me made of plastic or glass, but what about stoneware/ceramic?

    • Keep cups have lids to minimise spillage and burns …..your ceramic cup probably doesn't have a lid …..last thing they need is people spilling coffee on the way out of the store in cups with no lids …..

      • It's a ceramic keepcup with a silicone lid and sleeve. Now what?

        • You will be fine.

      • .your ceramic cup probably doesn't have a lid

Just use your hand as a lid and say you are doing it to save the environment/waste.

    • I use metal one, need to check if that's valid. Thanks OP

    • Do you even know what a keep cup is?

      • +2

        Yes, do you?

The deal doesn't specify whether a KeepCup branded reusable cup is needed, just a "resuable cup", so I'm not sure where you're going with this question…

  • +2

Went once to try and I swear worst coffee I've every tried .

    • Give Shell a try too.

    • +7

I swear worst coffee I've every tried

Hope it wasn't dispensed from the bowser.

    • +5

Have you tasted HJ one? I swear it's piss

      • +6

Have you tasted HJ one? I swear it's piss

Hmm, can't say I have tasted a "HJ", not surprised it tastes like piss :p

        • +2

I wonder how many heads this comment is going over. HAHAHA

      • +1

Yeap had HJ coffee/hot choc a couple of times and they're absolutely rubbish.

        • +1

Maybe give a white HJ a go?

    • It very much depend upon the coffee machine. It could be very good at one 7 eleven and very bad at the other.

    • Hungry Jacks: Hold my cup.

Colleague went to HJ for coffee.

Opened it up to add some coffee ~ Milk had curdled and looked like cottage cheese.

    • @profar..
I find it to be the best. Tell us what your best coffee is?
McD's would be the worst.. cold & bitter. Hipster coffee places are no better.

    • depends on the 7/11, I know a place with decent turnover and attendant seems to clean/take care of the machine, made for a very decent coffee for the price! But yes, some 7/11 stores don't give a crap and it tasted like rubbish.

    • +2

Ha! I've had far far worse $4 coffees from 'fancy hipster cafes'. I'll happily pay $1 for an ok coffee than $4 for a burnt one…or for a glass of warm milk that even after three returns is still horrible.

  • I wonder whether having to use the e cups in Sept constitutes 3rd line forcing?

  • So with our bunnings $1 'cups' how many 7-eleven coffee machines will be out of service most the time?

    • 1 small cup 245ml

      9000mL/245mL=37 small coffees in a $1 cup :)

  • +1

all I can think of is "2 girls 1 cup" …….

  • +2

    Is hot chocolate free too?

    • +3

obviously, you haven't been to a 7 eleven before. The hot chocolate cups already have the choc powder in them and then u add just the milk. How will u get the powder into your reusable cup without buying the hot chocolate packet/sealed cup????? Its quite obvious hot chocolates are not included.

      • +1

gets popcorn and waits for the O U T R A G E that they are not free

      • Some 7/11s have an all-in-one machine that uses standard cups. My guess is a staff member will have to taste every coffee and charge accordingly.

  • +1

if only their "coffee" was bearable!

    • -1

I agree. Their coffee without milk is awful. I always go for the flat-white - it's tolerable.

      • I would normally drink a long black from a decent cafe or at home, but never been game enough to try at 7/11. If I think the coffee's going to be average/bad, a milky coffee generally makes it decent/tolerable.

        • Out of all the low cost coffees (i.e. < $1.50) I've found 7/11 to be best - agree flat white makes it work.

  • +1

At a store now, he's heard of it but said nothing received in writing from HQ. But he certainly heard about this promo.

  • Has anyone apart from OP tried this free coffee offer yet?

    • I didn't try to get it. Just got told about the fact it was starting next month. Won't be able to redeem yet.

      • Great thanks, I thought it started from today as its Monday. My bad, the description starting in 3 days got skipped.

    • OP hasnt tried it, was told about it but doesnt start until Thursday

  • Does that mean we can use a travel mug as well, or better travel thermos πŸ˜†

  • +2

    Unlimited fill ups?

Looks like the offer has already started

  • +2

    7/11 coffee is surprisingly decent!

    • Compared to Nespresso, may be.

      • For a $1 on the go it’s alright.

  • +3

Awesome, I do this anyway at my local 7-Eleven and stoked that it now free

    • -5

So you steal coffee and by freeloading, ruin it for the rest of us? Jerk.

      • +10

I read it that he's been bringing in his own mug previously (and paying for the coffee)

    • It's not free yet. Starts Tuesday.

  • -1

Does anyone have recommendations on a good, cheap, small, reusable cup?

    • +1

good, cheap, small and reusable, not sure you will find anything that fits that description.

I have a keepacup, cork is breaking away now, lid edges glue came undone, glass still good… and that's an expensive option

i bet the 7/11 offering will be a good cup compared to the expensive keepacup

    • Why don't you steal one?

    • Avanti gocup has a great review. But made from stainless steel.
Currently on sale @ Victoria basement from $10

Yeah but nar… My local coffee shop (small business owner) where I actually enjoy the taste can have my 3+ dollars every day along with my keep cup I use.

I'd rather keep them in business with the service I get.

    • +3

Ah, the Aussie battler, small business owner doing it tough etc right?

It depends what you're looking for, 7/11 coffee is cheap and dirty, hence the price

if you're looking to have great coffee, it's hard to pass on your local cafe, prices difference is noticeable because quality is different

      • +7

I have the occasional decent coffee at a cafe, but sometimes feel ripped off when I get a 7/11 tasting coffee from a cafe. I don't care that 7/11 isn't amazing, it's decent enough for the $1 price tag.

If I'm paying $3-4 per coffee, I don't want it tasting like 7/11. Half the time at cafes that's what I get, so I'm pretty choosy now if I have to spend $3+.

At $3 per cup, that's nearly $1,100 a year just on coffees. It better be decent for that price.

        • +2

Time to find a new cafe, if they're tasting like 7/11, that's a sure as hell indication it's bad coffee

    • +1

To each their own. The closest cafe that I've had consistently good coffees from is a further work, a longer wait in line, and a $4 coffee (with keepcup discount). A lot of cafes I've found are very inconsistent and the coffee can be burnt and honestly taste worse than 7/11.
7/11 might not be great coffee, but at least it's consistent in it's taste.
Generally, if I don't want a muffin as well, I'll make my own coffee before either getting a $1 7/11 or a $4 cafe coffee.

      • 7/11 might not be great coffee, but at least it's consistent in it's taste.

Absolutely this! Even going to the same cafe with the same barista, the quality would vary depending on how distracted they are. Sometimes a $4 coffee tasted like shit.
Now I only ever get coffee from 7/11 because regardless of the store, time of day (or night), etc; I know what I'm getting.

    • +4

      $4x7 = $28
      $1x7 = $7
$21 out of pocket every week to keep the small business alive..
Or that $21 could be in the bank
Or can shout a mate 2x pints of beer at the bar
Or can even shout a lady a fancy expresso martini cocktail
I know what I would rather

      • +1

Crikey you can get pints for under $11 at a bar? Now THAT is a bargain!

      • +1

        It's irrelevant isn't it?

I don't buy things from businesses just to support them. If they have what I want for the price I want…be that a service or product, I'll buy it. If I can find it cheaper elsewhere then so be it.

Kind of like the argument about supporting local retail when you can buy the same online…which is essentially what most retail does and then charges you 400% for the convenience of not having to do it yourself. Same with cooking food vs going out for dinner.

$1 is what I am happy to pay when I'm out. If someone wants to pay $4 three times a day then go ahead. I'll save $60 a week, $3k a year, and enjoy a 1 euro greek coffee with what I've saved. Enjoy your coffee…I'll enjoy my holiday

    • Take a look out the back of the cafe, you'll probably see an investment-class vehicle parked there.
      Cafe owners are (profanity) rich!

  • No stainless mugs.

  • +3

Office productivity will be down 25% in August because of this promotion, people will be stuck in lines all day.

When people get back to their desks they'll realise how much time they lost, they'll panic, work frantically and stress out. They'll then need another coffee and return to 7/11 where they will probably go grab some comfort food realising it may be a long day.

    Absolute genius 7/11

    • Or the tight-arse boss will buy an automated coffee and keep it just within reach of employees chained to their desks.

  • +1

I have a keep cup and a Thermos, caffeine poisoning here we come!

    • +1

Thermos is good idea, I can grab a coffee for now and coffee for later!

  • +2

Any OBs up for a 7/11 crawl.
(Police may need a new law - Caffinated and Disorderly.)

    • +1

Seriously, I'll do one in Melbourne's eastern suburbs with you.

      • +2

Can you guys rate every different 7/11 coffee on a website or something while you do it?

        • +1

Sure I'll rate each different coffee.

          My highest rating is 5.
          My lowest rating is 5.
My average and mean rating, 5.

But, which store received the highest rating, and which the lowest?
          They all did.

      • +1

        Sorry I'm in Brisbane.

      • I'd say sign me up, but that'd be going against my username

  • +1

honestly… this will suck ~ I'm waiting for the complaints for the lines….

  • Do you still have to pay at the counter or can you just fill up and go?

    • I would love to know this…

    • pay what?

    • How do you pay $0? Paywave?

      • +1

Well when you have a free coffee voucher, you still have to "pay". Do you still have to go to the counter to "pay"?

      • Same way you pay for other freebies, they have to mark it off in the register.

  • my cup is neither plastic or glass but it's reusable biodegradable coffee cup, is it fine?
