Free Coffee with Any Reusable Cup 6/8-2/9 at 7-Eleven

8290

Just got my morning coffee from 7/11 with by keepcup and was told by the attendant that next month all coffees with a reusable cup will be free. So a whole month of free coffees if you use a reusable cup.

He didn't mention anything about it being only linked to their branded rCups, and I wasn't using one today, so doesn't look like that's the case. But maybe someone associated with the store can confirm.

Offer available only to customers filling their own reusable coffee cup made of multi-use plastic or glass and suitable for hot liquids. Make sure your reusable coffee cup is clean. Not in conjunction with any other offer. Valid to 02/09/19.

      • It was an internal machine clean, it has nothing to do with grubby customers. The machine was cleaning itself.

        • Smart machine, humans take note.

    • "the machine" don't they have 2? All the 7 Elevens I've been to have 2 coffee machines.
Nice of them to give a voucher though.

      • I had to ask for the voucher. I was hoping to use it after the free offer ended.

  • No problem at Melbourne Flinders x Spencer. Offered upfront.

  • anyone know what size coffee the 7-11 branded cups fit?

    • +2

I believe they fit the $2 coffees.

anyone who has trouble from now on - here you go 😊

Good on 7-eleven. This is the sort of thinking that is needed to change habits and drive change. Talk about a carrot rather than a stick!

I'm sure there's a profit motive at the end of this, but $15/mo to our corporate overlord for coffee would definitely save me money. I'd do it.

    • I'm pretty sure their margin on the $1 coffee is close to nothing, so if this deal can coax people into the habit of bringing their reusable cups, then it should go to some length to saving 7-Eleven the ongoing costs of the wax paper cups for all those people they managed to convert. Good on them!

      • I fill up Super ($3 coffee).

        • 3 times close to nothing is also close to nothing.

  • +3

Oddly i havent seen anybody use a reusable cup yet. I've had 6 cups and each time i still see other ppl using single use cups and paying. Are free coffee customers still the minority?

    • i saw a woman buy two $1 coffees.
either they don't have reusable cups or they CBF.
      ¯*\ _(ツ)_/¯

    • +2

I know it is hard to believe but not everyone is on Ozbargain.

I queued up behind someone who asked how much did I save by using my reusable cup. I explained that currently the coffee is free. He told me I was kidding.I just said you don;t have to believe me but there is a big poster in the window ……..

      • +1

        not everyone is on Ozbargain.

They have massive signs and advertisements for this offer though. It's not an OzB exclusive.
But yeah, some people don't even have an eye for bargains.

        • +2

i know of people who are embarrassed to claim freebies.

    • I bought a coffee today, only saw the poster when leaving (didn’t have a reusable cup with me anyway).
Looks like I keep one in the car from now.

  • Bought a reusable glass cup from Target for $5, its pretty good and has grip to hold. Bought five $2 coffees already. They have big banners of free coffee outside every store and never had any issues buying free coffee. I still see many people paying $$ for the coffee.

  • +1

Just tried it today. Raised my cup to the attendant and just said free coffee, and he nodded. Bought some KK anyway. So it works that they do get some purchases out of the deal.

  • Can you get the $2 coffee. Wasn't sure. So only did the $1dollar version.

  • +1

It's any size, and you even get multiple. Awesome deal.
I got a Super and a Large just now, so $5 value.

    Types of coffee are:
    Cappuccino
    Latte
    Flat White
    Long Black
    Short Black

Edit: I've noticed since writing my comment that the quantity is indeed officially unlimited.

    From Facebook
"There is no limit on quantity and size (as long as it fits under the coffee machine tap and sits on the metal tray)".

So for instance you could go do a coffee run and get a dozen Super sized coffees for your workplace or social gathering.

  • Yesterday I was 1 of 6 getting coffee with a reusable cup.
Today it was 2 of 4.

I'm curious to see what it'll look like by the end of the promo.

  • My wife went to get one, but she was told she need to purchase something to get the free coffee.

    • +1

ugh. i hope she told them where to go.

it's been a week since they started this promo and you still have a few grubs trying to pull any excuse not to let people have their damn free coffee.

      • +2

I lodged an enquiry in 7-11 website

        • +1

Don't lodge an enquiry. Call up their customer service and they can deal with it right away

  • Your comments got me really confused about what is going to happen after September 1st

  • +5

I've used this deal every work day so far.

  • Anyone know who pays for the free coffee. Some cashiers want to know what size you get free, some don't?

Are the store owners funding the cost, or is head office?

    • +1

Yes, I usually go to one that doesn't ask about what size you have. I was surprised the other day to be asked at a different store. She seemed uninterested in her job but put it through as a $2 coffee on her till, so they must get reimbursed a different amount from head office.

      • +1

I doubt they get reimbursed. Putting coffees through the till allows head office to track how many kgs of coffee beans they need to buy.

        • +1

          They don't, I asked

          • @sushimaster: Wow. That's quite an impost to put onto the franchisees.

    • My guess is some stores are just putting them all through as large or super as they get the money and don't want to put smalls through.

  • I would have thought the coffee machine would keep count of number of coffee served. Otherwise, cashier should just enter a large coffee for each one free?

    • Cashier rings it up. Sometimes he asks what size.

  • +5

    What's with the bump?

Also my wife said she saw someone doing a coffee run with like 7 peoples keep cups.. Come on guys, that's not the spirit of this deal. If we want them to do it again we shouldn't be doing shit like that.

    • +1

cannot be said better than that! I agree

    • +2

7 cups of coffee is moving into heart attack region

      • Especially if they're "super"-sized

    • +1 to this. It was absolutely infuriating to be waiting in queue and witnessing this. If they do it again they may just restrict it to one per customer.

      • +1

You want less freebies? Where's your Ozbargain spirit.
I could link half a dozen comments from their official Facebook page where they are there is no quantity limit.

    • +2

that's not the spirit of this deal.

Mate, the 7 Eleven staff on Facebook state repeatedly there is no quantity limit. They actively encourage getting multiple coffees.
And the bump is to remind people of the offer before it runs out.

  • +2

    Deal ends midnight tonight

    • +5

It was fun while it lasted..

    • +4

Why should they thank you for taking their free coffee?

      • To accept their invitation to get the free coffee, courtesy to customer, politeness, etc. Otherwise what they should say?

      • +2

        Take the coffee and run

      • +1

Weird thing is I did get thanked yesterday lol. The only reason I can think of is maybe I wiped down the machine tray and bench top..?

    • +8

ohh man people will always find something to whinge about

    • +3

Gee that really is rock bottom! Hope you're ok!

      • I am fine, Mate

    • +1

      Cry me a river

  • I like to buy a star bucks venti (10% off if you use the app, I recall them telling me for last 8 months venti late is $5 was 5.50) either way I like to buy a venti take the cup home 😅 because it's huge and fill it up at 7-11 for $3 and get 3 smalls and the xtrw froth with triple shot..then I throw the cup out.

  • +5

I'm quite happy this deal is nearly over. I have felt compelled to get the free $3 size coffee and have been hitting them a bit hard the last week or so and now I have a permanent headache…

  • maybe it will be extended lol
