Xiaomi Zigbee Gadgets Not Working Properly

Hi All, couldn’t immediately find a topic on this. I’ve been having problems with Xiaomi gadgets connected to the hub such as smart sockets and wireless switches. Half the time they don’t work and it’s super annoying. Other times they’ll work fine so it’s unlikely to be battery related. For instance the smart socket can regularly not be accessed on the app, just says ‘can’t load’. Same with the switch where my connected lights just don’t switch on. I have reset the smart sockets a few times to no avail. Also all items are within recommended distance from each other/from my wifi modem.

Anyway with tips or similar experience?

only the hub can use wifi. all the other zigbee things can only use each other and the hub. hopefully they are all close enough to each other -> hub -> wifi modem

  • I've been experiencing this a little lately too, but haven't been sufficiently annoyed to do anything about it. I'm experiencing very slow updates for sensors, both in app, and within NodeRed. I am wondering whether a power cycle of the hub is the go, because I haven't done that yet.

Also I'm on the china server.

    • Just to add, I'm not sure what the deal is with their firmware numbers, they don't user semver, but I was 3 versions behind on my firmware, but my app was up to date, so it could be that they'd implemented a number of software and firmware updates in unison, but I was behind on firmware. That seems to have had an immediate effect on the speed of updating in my app.

  • dropped back two xiaomi home versions

  • the chinese goverment has decreed no electricity for you!

  • Thanks all. The hub was only three metres away from the modem which is nicely in the middle of the recommended range as far as I remember. I moved the hub closer to the modem thought (<1m) and it still complains about poor connection even though it says my signal strength is 100%. 🧐 Power plugs, sensors and switches continue to not work intermittently. All are 3-4 metres away from the hub. I haven’t researched myself yet but what is the best way of contacting these guys? Tbh I’m thinking of selling the lot if I can’t resolve this soon.

  • Does your ssid contain special characters?
    If so try changing

    • Actually it does, a full stop. Does that seriously cause a problem?

      • To me it did.
I have over 75 devices working fine after
