Charging Port Repair for Motorola E3 Power

Technologically challenged 70 plus year old friend has botched up his charging port it is super loose now basically unusable so are there any places that do charging port replacement or repair before I have to buy or recommend him a new cheap expendable phone.

Looking at my options.

Yes I know you should be more careful with the port you are preaching to the wrong guy here my electronics are all perfect minimizing the cavemen damaging the hardware is the problem I just need answers.

It is only the charging port that is broken anybody have any options?

  • It's a $150 phone, probably can find it a lot cheaper on sales/etc. I very much doubt you'd be able to find someone (reliable) to repair it for less than a big chunk of that amount (including sourcing the charging port), probably much more viable to 1. Buy a better phone, or 2. Buy another E3 Power.

    • This is my theory just asking if anybody has had to do this kind of thing and know what the average price for a charging port replacement / repair was like.

Honestly I might even try find a mobile that specifically says it has a durable charging port or find some kind of aftermarket add on that might delay or prevent this as I have found changing people is not possible in this day and age you just have to do the change for them or minimize the damage as much as possible from your perspective.

      • Magnetic charge cable next time.

        • This is a really good idea thanks for that I'll put it on the drawing board.

Only drawback with that is then they cannot charge elsewhere (only at home) but I guess the same could be said if we go the wireless charging route needing a wireless charger wherever the phone goes.

          • @AlienC: Lol i had a moto do the same on port. Bought 2 charger cables the same, one for home one for power bank šŸ˜‰

Worth a punt on this or something similar and just charge wirelessly?

Scrub that sorry it plugs into the micro usb

Might be able to find something that actually puts charge coils on the battery tho and charge wirelessly

    • That's pretty cool I might look into that for something else but no the Motorola E3 Power charging port is completely stuffed can't charge even with the cable in on an angle the micro USB port just can't register anything I personally tried to fiddle with it as I had the same idea.

Have not looked into wireless battery attachments yet but good you reminded me maybe his next phone will be Qi wireless compatible.. That is actually a good idea now to just find one that can do all the common smartphone things and has a headphone jack that isn't too bulky.

The user is not a tech enthusiast so no gaming at all or anything intensive but he does call and message via whatsapp a lot.

I have got him on the 12 month $150 boost mobile prepaid plan also for unlimited calls and text to India.

Now to look at some industrial rugged phones for lols.

But a wireless charging phone for his next play toy is not a bad idea.

I'm just glad he hasn't tried taking it in the shower yet.
