        • did not know that! longevity of MSY but much longer than the saturday computer fair traders. must say something about their business. haters=customers

  • Any good RAM for Ryzen 3600? Looking for 2x8gb

  • -1

as someone that has been using computer allience they do raise the price a bit but still have the cheapest for most of the stuff that i buy like ssd's psu's but i think they do price adjustments on gpu and cpus to not lose too much profit which is in my opinion reasonable and i can live with it compared to online stores like futu online they are always on sale %20 %15 or whatever but their pricing is normal or even more even after the sales :)

    • +2

cant they just do genuine ~5% off instead of the +15% less 20% BS? just gets everyone riled up.

  • I can't get this to work. I had my items in the cart ready to go, put in the code PCASAVE and it says wrong code.

    • +1

      10am mate

      • Good call, thanks. Had to sneakily place the order at work.

  • No 5700 xts at all on their ebay store?

    • +1

They just added gigabyte 5700xt. $639 after discount. What a deal ! I think I might just pull the trigger on this

      • Hmm still not sure if that card is worth the $80 premium over reference (recent deals of reference ~ $560) given you can undervolt to offset some of the temperature issues

        • Really? It's below retail for a reference version though. 660 for a reference ct on eBay. Spewin I just built my computer.

          • @mordinhoz: Just a couple weeks ago reference was $560 here:

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/480869

I think $80 is too much of a premium just for fan cooler, maybe I would pay $40 premium? Anyway I think we will get better prices in the next cpl of months especially with Black Friday around the corner

            • @krazek: In saying that though, do you guys think it is necessary to buy an extra fan cooler if I went with the 5700 XT?

        • Having had a reference RX 5700 XT, the premium for an aftermarket cooler is worth it. It wasn't as loud as the reference RX Vega 56, but it was ridicuously hot (even if AMD claims it is "within specification"). I had flashbacks to owning a reference R9 290X… it's that bad. Regardless, when I had the RX 5700 XT a couple of weeks ago, the drivers were garbage. Several BSODs, hard freezes during games, etc. I returned it for a RTX 2070 (which was the same price) and have a quiet and stable computer again. Hopefully, AMD has since improved the drivers.

          • @Ben1985: Having the same issue here. Black screen crashes when idling on desktop or watching a video. So frustrating as I really wanted to support team red this time. I'll be returning too.

  • I bough a MSI mortar max motherboard from them 2 or 3 weeks ago, had problem booting my new PC build and contacted them , they respond fast for trouble shooting tips which was nice of them to do considering it wasn't a faulty item and more like wrong connection issue from my side, all in all was happy with them, however still I have issue with them upping prices before eBay deal..

  • Would CA do a bios update on B450 boards before they ship for comparability with ryzen 3000 chips?

    • I do not think that word means what you think it means.

      • +1

        Sorry typo, meant compatability

    • +4

We can, but you MUST add a written note to the order requesting we flash the board before shipping.

We usually will do it anyway if bought on the same order with a 3000 series chip (believe it or not, some people complain when we do it without them asking!), but if its on its own and no request is made, we will assume its going with a 2nd gen and/or you are a genuine system builder who have your own spare parts.

And while on that topic, don't ignore the 2nd gen chips, some very good deals in the mid range there and price/performance wise worth a look: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/-/173269770074

      • Cheers, thanks for confirming

    • +1

the B450 MAX comes already updated to the latest bios and no need to do anything it work with all Ryzon 3000

    • I just did this. Ordered a MSI B450i motherboard, paid and then sent an ebay message asking for Bios update to latest version. I got a reply about 1 hour later saying that it would be done.

  • -1

    Is anyone else getting
"Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order."
When trying to purchase 1TB Samsung 2.5" 860 EVO SATA 6Gb/s SSD PN MZ-76E1T0BW?

    • Starts at 10AM.

      • There are already maybe five Computer Alliance Sale posts for individual products where people are trying to use the code before the sale has even started.

  • Waiting.

  • -1

    Still not working

    • +1

      Working for me?

    • +1

      Working now

  • Thanks got a DS918+ for $599, missed out on yesterday's deal but am happy.

  • I had a look at my cart I created before the Promo, and practically no mobo CPU or RAM are on the discount. Is this correct or is there a problem?

    • Did you apply the coupon to save a further 20% off..?

      • It says "This code can't be applied to your order." Should I wait a little longer for it to be fixed?

        • Have you got an Australian registered address and Australian delivery address in your eBay account?

Otherwise you could contact eBay live chat and they will fix up the issue for you, that error would be because of an error in your account.

  • +8

So, code started 9 mins ago, have many people processing orders. Just took a look, we are behind by several hundred orders already.

I'm going to get some very Evil looks from our warehouse people when they refresh their pick list. We dropped the duration on this sale from the usual 7 to 4 days (rather than not do one at all) because we are otherwise busy and can't handle the extra retail orders across 7 days right now.

With this load we will try to get most of the 1st couple of hours orders out today but we usually can't get more than about 1000 a day out the door on top of our regular sales load, so just be aware orders by lunch and after probably won't ship till tomorrow, and some maybe not till early next week. Most of tomorrows orders at this point I guess likely ship Mon/Tue and weekend order orders and anything else that was delayed hopefully by mid week. Thats a rough idea for now, just want to make sure people realize we can't always manage same day shipping during these sales.

    • I just ordered a HDD but am out of the country on the 8th. Any chance of not receiving it before then? I'm just in Brissy too and my last order was pretty quick from you guys. So fingers crossed!

    • +1

Well I'm happy as a pig in poo for the saving I made on a GFX card.

A well deserved pat on the back to Computer Alliance from this OzBargainer!!

    • Thank you. It looks like mine went out today. I'm building a PC for the first time. Because your prices were better than the estimates I had I was able to upgrade a few things and still be within budget. Also, because I had a bit of warning the sale was coming up I did a bit of extra research while I was waiting. The items I've been looking at remained at the same prices. Now that that's done I'll check out the other stuff you have and see if there's anything else I "need".

  • Hmmm… and there goes almost $900 on a Ryzen 3600 build

  • Ugh I really want to build myself a new PC - But I have too many undecided factors that I might have to sit this one out

Cant decide on a Case between probably a NZXT H510 or Meshify C or a 280x for MicroAtx
Cant decide if I get a 2060 Super (or which one) or risk the terrible drivers of AMD
Cant decide on MicroAtx or Atx
Cant decide if I want to do RGB or just go without
Cant decide if I should wait for B550 boards to come out

Too many things for my indecisive brain to handle haha

    • I know the feeling. I ended up deciding and buying a set up but it's still. Did I get the right things? Should I have waited on b550? Should I have gotten a 3900x instead of a 3800x?

It's just too much choice on stuff at the moment. lol

      • What did you end up getting? - Maybe I can just take your list and buy that haha.

        • now is the right time to buy! just buy on matching PCB colour theme (if that helps).
          some thoughts;
motherboards are disposable, get whatever (its just another OS 'refresh' to change)
looking inside the case is ok, lighting it is dumb (bad CRI makes you feel sick)
stability is king, bleeding edge sux (ie go current chipset)

    • I got you.

      1) Anything NZXT is good and in my experience their support has been fantastic (they mailed me a replacement side panel for free after I dropped the original even though I intended/offered to pay).
      2) Take a look at the RTX 2070, as it'll likely be similar in price to the RTX 2060 SUPER. The drivers for the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT are very immature and unstable currently, and you'll spend more time troubleshooting than actually using your computer. This might change in a couple of months.
      3) Doesn't matter. If you're just installing a single video card and NVME drive, mATX is perfectly sufficient.
      4) Your choice, but it's a no for me. RGB generally costs more and requires more effort to sync the colours.
      5) Don't wait. The B550 chipset has no standout features, and it lacks PCIE4 which is the drawcard for the X570 chipset. Either go a cheap A320, B350, or B450 motherboard (the A320 actually supports 3rd generation Ryzen processors with a BIOS update and hasn't shown any performance degradation, at least with a Ryzen 5 3600), or a X570 motherboard which can be purchased for just over $200.

      Done.

  • Thanks op! Just bought a Z390 itx motherboard for my new build. I have been putting it in eBay shopping cart for two weeks while waiting for a discount sale. Personally I’ve never had an experience of “jack” from CA though.

  • No DS1019+ in stock :( Rep - any chance you get stock in the next 4 days?

    • Nope, none on order. The 918s also not far off selling out.

  • +13

Well, this is annoying. I can't find Jack. I think hes under a desk somewhere hiding from our warehouse staff. About twice the orders coming in i was planning for and we have largely hit our shipping limits for today less than a hour in. Will throw more floor sales staff at the warehouse and see what records we can break today.

Jack is really not very good at his job, and when i find him hes going straight to HR for a Firm Word. That is, if he survives running the gauntlet though the warehouse to get out. I did sent him here for a lesson on what the experts say we are supposed to be doing, given lots of guys who are expert on jacking live here. It seems he got confused again and dropped prices, again, instead of raising them. Ah well, maybe next time.

  • silly question… can we pickup from one of their stores instead of delivery?

  • No stock for MSI RTX 2070s Gaming Trio. Had it in my cart but was in meeting whole day.

Rep - any chance of restock in the next few days?

  • +1

@Computer Alliance What happened to the MSI 2080Ti Gaming X Trio on your eBay store? Was there last night and your official website shows in stock currently, however after the code went live it has suddenly gone.

    • +1

Sold out, none available in the shop either. I can see we put some on order yesterday so possibility there will come in by the weekend and if so will go back up.

  • Any chance the MSI 2070 Super Gaming x will come back before this sale is done?

edit: NVM, just saw above message

  • I want to build a PC for under $800, ceiling of $1000. Mainly for VR + game streaming to other devices in my home. Ideally quiet parts. I have $450 ebay GCs.

I'm happy to grab parts over a period of time if there are things that are currently overpriced.

I don't have too much of a knowledge on cases / motherboards, and their incompatibilities.

Does anyone have some advice for me on whether anything I should buy from this sale? Or if I could even build something to achieve my goals in this sale?

Considering that 1TB EVO currently, but am unsure on whether that limits me in terms of cases/motherboards.

  • @Computer Alliance thanks for the sale. Grabbed a 2080 super Aorus for a friend, but was looking to get a corsair k95 at the same time any chance you would be able to add some of the MX Speed models for sale?

    • You sound like a good friend buying your friend a 2080 super!

  • +2

I would only buy things like CPU, Memory, SSD, CPU HSF and cases (i.e. things which are either cheap to ship for RMA or either very reliable) on eBay unless they have a local store nearby. It's a shame CA or many of these shops that participate in eBay sales aren't in Melbourne.

Currently I'm after an ultrawide monitor and potentially a graphics card to support it, and while the prices are cheaper on eBay deals, I'm hesitant to buy them because after-sales support is going to be a pain (either shipping is expensive as with the case of the display, or higher chance of RMA as with the case of the GPU).

  • -8

Sooo annoying, been eyeing on a gaming laptop only to find that there was only 1 stock and its gone…

Isn't it against the ACCC to advise discounts but only provide limited stocks?

    • +3

Lol really? Just because a store only has 1 quantity of an item in stock out of like 2000 products you're claiming the whole promotion has limited stock?

For comparison, there were 500 860 Evo SSD's in stock, a ton more than any other store currently and for the cheapest price by a large margin.

      • -1

        maybe more than just 1?

or actually list the stock number so people don't wait for so long?

so yes, it should be more

        • maybe more than just 1?

Quantities depend on how many they order in, not their fault if they think it's a niche item and only want a small number in stock. Most items have heaps of stock.

or actually list the stock number so people don't wait for so long

Accurate quantities are available on all listings. You just took too long to buy.

  • -4

i tried to buy this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CyberPower-VALUE1200ELCD-UPS-120…
but it said that the code (PCASAVE) cant be applied to your order.

Is the code doesnt apply for ups?

    • +2

You probably need to be buying stuff from CA :-)

      • sorry my fault

  • +1

I just bought the second last 2070 for $600 with modern warfare pc free WOOOHOOOOO!

Worked out to be about $500 after using my ebay uk gift cards :DDDDD

LAST ONE LEFT if anyone cares :P

  • Was working out what motherboard to get and as I decided the 3600 went out of stock.

@Computer alliance any chance you will get a restock before the sale ends?

    • +2

The price difference between the Ryzen 5 3600 and 3600X is only around $40 after discounts, which I think is justifiable for the slight frequency bump and better cooler if you're desperate.

      • +1

Yeah I was just looking at that and think that's what I'll do. Thanks for the suggestion mate!

  • @Computer Alliance - appreciate all the posts, any idea of restocking the AMD 5700 & 5700XT ref cards? Cheers

  • Computer Alliance… any chance of the Ryzen 3600 coming back into stock for this sale?

  • -6

FU CA … that's all I can say

Even though jacking up prices before sales is blatant UNLAWFUL behaviour, those ebay fanboys (you know who you are) keep promoting and upvoting such deals … shame on you

As for myself, I have a moral compass, I will not give my money to these companies that jack up prices, so will buy my tech for a few dollars more from stores like MSY, CPL and CentreCom, than feeding the greedy BS artists

    • +3

What are you talking about? Which items specifically have had the prices jacked? I just purchased a RTX 2060 for $447 and a Ryzen 5 3600X for $319 (among other items), both with free shipping, during the sale. By comparison, the cheapest RTX 2060 available (i.e. actually in stock) elsewhere is $539 excluding shipping. Likewise, the cheapest Ryzen 5 3600X available elsewhere is $369 excluding shipping. On these two items alone I've saved $142 (closer to $170 after factoring in shipping). This represents a saving of 16-18%. You're acting like the prices have been jacked to the point where you can't save any money, which is an extreme exaggeration. The entitled attitude of certain OzBargain users is astounding. Also, using MSY as an example of a more reputable and trustworthy business is laughable… you might want to do your research on their history.

      • -1

They jacked up their prices on 4TB NAS drives. The Seagate Ironwolf used to be $159, now it's $179.

      • Which RTX 2060 have you gotten for $447? The cheapest I can find now is Gigabyte OC Gaming for $479.

        • +1

The Gigabyte RTX 2060 Mini. It could be out of stock now, I haven't checked.

  • -4

It's a shame CA is now price-jacking their stuff. Like they say, it takes a very long time to build up a reputation, but only takes a few seconds to break it down.

  • what a deal, cheapest I've ever seen.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-G-PRO-Lightspeed-Wirele…
Though some people just bought more than one (5 and 8) and they've made it out-of-stock.

  • From this thread I realised there are still people who like to play game on PC …

  • did i miss the sale nothing has the code tag under the price section

  • +1

    WB 2TB Hard Drive is 84 > 67.2.

I think that's an okay deal.

I'm not the most informed about hard drives though. Does anyone know if there's a better one I should go for?

  • When does this sale end? According to Ebay Terms it is 29th September night. http://pages.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/pcasave

But some people are saying it ends 30th September night?

    • ends tonight, 29th

Most of the items are OOS now. Time for the next 20% off coupon code

  • Good to see the price of the video card I was after drop back down to its normal price post sale

    • which one?

  • Any idea when orders will be sent? Ordered on Sunday and still waiting for postage confirmation. Asked rep on Ebay chat for ETA but didn't answer exactly when goods will be sent, only that they are getting through 2000 orders. Wish they had the option for local pickup, would make things a lot easier for everyone involved.
