Is Anyone's Switch Lite Quite Uncomfortably Warm to Hold?

I'm wondering if my Switch Lite gets hotter than it's supposed to, compared to what other people are experiencing.

According to Digital Foundry's Switch Lite review, "..the actual skin of the machine itself is actually cooler to the touch based on measurements from a thermal camera."

but for me, it feels quite warm, to the point where it causes my hands to sweat a little. I'm playing Astral Chain and it only takes 5 minutes to get to this point, it's very uncomfortable to hold.

I'm not sure if I should try to exchange it for another one from the store, or if this is just how it is for everyone. I got it from Big W, I'm not sure if they're going to let me return it since there's no proof that it's faulty

  • Is there a fan?

Yes, there's a fan, just like on the regular Switch, but when you hold your hand or finger over the vents, you can barely feel anything, even when it's running at its hottest, I have to put my lips in front of it before I can feel anything

        Maybe the fan is defective?

      • Lol thats funny I do that as well. Makes me wonder how many people have kissed their switch vents figuring out if its cooling itself

The fan on the OG switch becomes annoyingly loud at full speed so if it's not that then I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd just return exchange it though and say it's too warm.

  • Mine is cooler than any of my phones or tablets.

  • There have been lots of complaints about overheating in Lite's

Yes I have the same problem… well actually its not really a problem but more by design. On the inside they have thermal paste which is transfering heat to both the heatpipe and heatsink and a big metal heatspreader that spreads heat across the whole back of the switch. The latter of which is what you are feeling most and it doesnt help the processor is very close to where your right hand fingers rest.

It getting warm is normal and its a good thing that you are feeling it, better having the heat spread out than it saturating the tiny heatsink
