YouTube Premium INR 129/Month (~AU $2.94) via YouTube India (VPN Required)

6310

Finally signed up to this deal. Noticed that it is over 6 months since it's been posted so posting it again for those who weren't aware. Impressed with the service so far.

Full credit to Mitr for the original deal, title and description.

Google has finally launched Youtube Premium in India for INR 129(AUD ~2.60) and Family Membership for INR 189 (AUD ~3.80).
Comes with Youtube Music, No Ads in Youtube as well as Google Play Music.

https://india.googleblog.com/2019/03/introducing-youtube-mus…

This cost cheaper that was posted earlier for using Russian subscription option posted here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/414890

I have signed up after cancelling Russian plan with my Macquarie Debit card so no conversion charges.

Everything included in post by @Dealbot applies here too.

Youtube Premium will give you access to -
• Ad-free videos: Watch videos without interruptions
• Save offline: Save videos and songs on your mobile device to watch offline
• Background play: Keep videos or music playing when using other apps or when your screen’s off
• Audio mode: Listen to audio only on the YouTube Music app
• Google Play Music Subscription (when available in your country) is included at no additional cost

Current pricing is $14.99 per month in Australia. This workaround should work for new and existing customers.

Again, the trick to making this work is having access to a VPN service. If you're signed up to one then the rest of the process should be fairly simple.

Instructions -
1. Connect a VPN to the server India (I connected to Bangalore)
2. Click on Paid Memberships(youtube.com), then click on Learn more.
https://www.youtube.com/paid_memberships

Enter Indian address and pay by credit card.
Termination takes place under this link(music.youtube.com)

Address line : My Place
Town/City : Mumbai
Postcode : 400070
State : Maharashtra

  • Can anyone advise any good free vpn I can use?

    • People have recommended Tunnelbear as the first 500MB are free.

  • Amazing deal!

For family issue this is how i resolved it, in all cases I needed an Indian VPN activated:

1 - If the family member has NO payment profiles it just works (with VPN activated)
2 - If they have any payment profiles, remove them all, add a new one for India (then you can delete it)

    • Correct, this is how I resolved it too.

  • I tried to sign up using VPN and location India. When I enter a random Indian address for billing, it says billing will be checked every month when it renews.

Does it mean next month, I will be charged based on Australia location?

    • Probably means the address will be checked against the credit card. You'll be right.

  • Is this deal still "a goer"??

    • Yep, think so.

    • It’s the set price until they price hike it

Just a quick PSA for those who use G-suite. You cannot make or be part of a family group if your google account is tied to G-suite.

    • Rather annoying as mine and my wife's main accounts are on G-suite

  • If anyone has had any luck removing the Indian recommendations, that would be ace. I have checked throughout each apps settings to ensure Australia is set, also the billing address is also Aus. Youtube Music and GPM all still give Indian charts.

    • My youtube music is in Australian charts, google music is in Indian.

      • Ah man, my YTMusic used to be Aus, but recently started showing Indian top charts now.
I wonder if its a staged rollout across their services.

        • I only listen to music in my car with Android auto, just ok google then play the radio list from that song I wantrd. It's actually very accurate recommended music. Very easy doesn't even need to look at the charts.

          • @g0dskitchen: yeah exactly the same here, don't care about the charts. small price to pay for unlimited streaming.

            • @skully78: Paid in AUD rate since 2014…feels got ripped off big time.. Just changed to India from this month. Thanks to this post.

        • my youtube music app updated this morning, now the charts are Indian songs…

  • There's no way to change from single membership to family…

    • Experienced the same issue but was able to upgrade by switching on the VPN again.

Can confirm this still works, I just got billed on my 28deg card $3.95AUD for a family plan after being on the free trial for a month

    • I paid $3.93 20 mins ago for a family

      • +3

        Well I guess that's your 2 cents

    • 28 Degrees has no transaction fees?

  • Great value - thanks!

  • Just signed up, was really straight forward, Used VPN Connected to India and then went to the sign in page, entered random Indian address and I am now subscribed on my main Google account. As I had a google Play sub before, It even recommended that I cancel it.

    • do you use google pay on your main account? it will change your address on that too….. which is linked to your credit cards on google pay… i found it's easier/safer to get on dummy account then just invited main over, so won't stuff up google pay.

      • Yeah I do, Just checked and my default address is still set to Australia

  • Just signed up, awesome :)

  • Has anyone worked out how to change their Play Store back to AUD? I'm using a throwaway(ish) Gmail as the primary account for a family sub, had to set up an Indian Payment profile for the child accounts to accept the family sharing. I've since closed the Indian payment profile on these accounts and opened back up my Australian ones (had to change them back to enable Google Pay) but when I go to the Play Store everything is advertised in INR. I'd like it to be in AUD - what can I do? Google says you can only change country once per year, is there any way around this?

    • Did you figure this out?

I used a dummy email ti srt uo the family member. Added my personal email as a dependant. Removed the dependent payment method. Connected to vpn and switched to india. Joined the family group.

Disconnected vpn, but now my dependant goofle play is stuck on India as my location

      • I ended up fixing it in a webchat with Google. There is the "once a year" rule but if you can get into a webchat with them you can resolve it. From memory, I kicked it off at a support page for Google Pay (was the only place I could find a live person to chat to).

I told them that I had accidentally changed my account to India, switched phones, and now I can't use Google Pay. Since they get a clip of my transactions in Google Pay I guess they were keen to fix it for me? Once they did whatever it was they did, I cleared my cache and it was back to AU.

  • Just tried to sign up to premium through the youtube link and am being quoted 24AED for some reason. I am connected to an Indian VPN so I don't get it.

    • +1

Maybe try using Tunnelbear. That's what I used.

  • Thanks heaps just signed up to YouTube premium great price :)

  • thanks mate this is going to save me $$ every month. Much appreciated. Very easy process too which was good.

  • hmm I wonder if this is worth it for me… i currently pay 11.99 a month for spotify premium but i use youtube adblocker and i have no VPN.

i guess the price of a VPN and Youtube premium India is half the cost of spotify premium but it seems like a lot of stuffing around…

    • +1

You only need to use the VPN once (when signing up). After that, no need. And I just used a free VPN plan with Tunnelbear.

Regarding Spotify, I use that too, but with a family plan. Works out to be only $3/month.

      Spotify Family Plan Sharing

Nice one thanks, I much prefer spotify. I'll try to find a spot, cheers.

  • Thanks for this changed from russian to indian was a POS had to use a completely different device for sign up/renew but cheaper thanks!

  • For some reason it won't let me add people to my family (ironically enough my actual family) when I did this trick. Any ideas? I go to "EDIT" my family settings under the Memberships page but it doesn't actually allow me to add people..

    "Share YouTube Premium
Next, you'll create a family group to share YouTube Premium – as well as other Google services – with up to 5 family members. Learn more"

I click CONTINUE and then get

    "You've finished for now!
Remember to add family members by visiting YouTube account settings"

I must be missing an obvious link/button somewhere?

  • … many thanks dealbot … this deal is still active!!!

  • Hi, has anyone had this problem.

I signed up to this deal via VPN and all seemed to work fine, but now when i check all i've got is a "Youtube Music Premium" account which means I still get ads on Youtube.

    • did you sign up youtube premium or youtube music premium. you need to sign up youtube premium if you want no ads in youtube and youtube music. This is new thing they just changed to … and google music is no longer part of it … this is how they package it a few days ago when they launched youtube premium in Taiwan. India still the cheapest

      • I had to try different servers using Nord because YouTube was detecting my location as UAE etc. Finally Chennai servers got me detected in India. I nearly completed signing up when I noticed it said YouTube Music Premium which it hadn’t when detecting me as being in UAE. I remembered your post so backtracked. I’d canceled a trial a year ago. I tapped on that & scrolled down from the AUD trial and had Indian Rupee options so am signed up now.

        • Also I found FireFox Focus on iOS helpful. Anytime you close the tab it clears all cookies etc. When I was just relying on VPN it kept offering up AUD.

  • worked before for me.

But today when I tried it for my friend's account, it seems this is no longer working, though VPN to india address, it will show as $11.99 USD , instead of
    INR 129/Month

  • Hey guys - I need some help with this!

I got it to work by doing the following:
    1) Create a new gmail account in AU (no payment options set)
    2) Made that account a family manager.
    3) Added my family members (all AU based).
    3) VPN'd into India and signed up for the family YouTube Premium, using a 28degress card with an Indian address.

Family members now have YouTube premium and access to google music/etc.

However, all my music/movie recommendations are from India; AND WORSE I cant buy Google Movies on my AU family member account anymore…

I have now removed my AU family member account from the family, and I am able to buy Google Movies stuff again, BUT I cant re-add it to the family because "its in a different country"…

    /sigh - help??

    • Works perfectly on all my 6 family accounts. No issues getting movies and books in family library

      • what procedure did you follow?

is your family account location India or AU?

        • Scroll up, you will see step by step instructions.

        • Top right hand corner of YouTube click on your profile picture. Change Location (2nd bottom option) to Australia.

          • @4agte: Hrmm, my family account is already on Aus..

            • @tephra: Sorry. I meant to reply to someone else. This won't help you. But….

If families members cannot add you after adding India billing information you will need to repeat the process to add Australia billing information. They can be the same card but each will need to have a retrospective Indian and Australia address

Eg. I created a Indian family account but no Australian members could join until I readded my Australia billing profile. I now have an Indian and Australian billing profile

              • @4agte: Hrmm… Not working.

my family account (a gmail account) has multiple payment profiles (AU+IN).
my "child" account (Also a gmail account) now has multiple payment profile (AU+IN).

  • Has anyone been able to do this with google play credit?

  • just signed up for trial, it's 6 months free with Indian VPN, 4 months with Australia

  • Before I cancel my sub, is this deal still working?

    • Yeah it still works. I did it yesterday but have no luck at all in sharing with another member in the Family plan. Tried all the suggestions raised here.

      • I had the same problem but I have a solution for those who want to add family members form Australia (it just worked for me):

Go to your GooglePay account and remove all your profiles and add one with the Indian address.

        Accept the invitation email

        AND it should work.

You can then remove the Indian profile and then add your normal Australian one

    • Also, did you pay for the membership with your Australian Credit Card? (ANZ/CBA Visa card etc.)

  • Wait, I currently have Google Play Music and get Youtube Premium as a bonus with it, will this give me GPM too or will I just have Youtube and Youtube Music?

    • This will give you GPM too.

  • so how do you get around the system returning an error due to the creditcard address not being the same as the subscription address - error - declined :(

    • anyone figure out how to get past credit card error yet?

  • just signed up successfully with a 3-month free trial plus 99R per month subscription. Thanks!

  • Not sure how it worked but tried again and let my card details through

  • anyone had luck with family account recently? I have tried everything and no luck…

  • Just did the family account bit all my recommendation in google music is indian stuff.. so annoying. I did get the family package but seems no one can join unless they vpn to india. I just took it as i was hoping i can join from aus and the recommendations will be from aus but no luck

    • To change your suggestions you need to change your region in region to australia

If your family has an Australia billing profile they won't be able to join until you add an Indian billing profile.

VPN is only required to sign up.

      • Tx after some time I found the correct place to set up a paymwnt profile. Maange to add everyone. All profiles are now connected and is also changed back to show the region as Aus. But still getting the charts and recommendation stuff showing indian stuff. I'm assuming this is just how it is. Wonder if its not better creating a Aus family plan and just sell the slots to friends lol

  • Did this… still on 1st month trial.
Happy to pay <$4/month for a family of 4.
Wouldn’t pay usual monthly price… This is great!

  • Can anyone help me. I got the family package with secondary email. I then invited my primary email. I then deleted my payment profiles on my primary account and used a vpn to india. I could then join the family group.

But my google store is still in rupee.. i n deleted the india payment profile and disconnected the vpn and set up a Aus payment profile. I cleared my data in the store but still shows the store in rupees and several als aren't showing

  • Anyone got any ideas if this deal has changed>?

I created a dummy account and signed up for india family youtube sub -
Created an australia dummy payment profile on dummy account.

tried to invite my main account and my friends account, but getting same error both times re: manager is in different country.

Have tried to use vpn from main account and friends account, as well as creating india profiles for both my main and my friends account…

    • My work around was to delete all the india payment profiles then re add my members using all Australian profiles. Then used my dummy account to sign up for the india family account and all my pre-added members followed suit.

      • Your dummy account, does it have a Aus payment profile or just indian?

Your other accounts are they all in $ in play store?

      • Would you care to break that process down if you could please? I'm at the start of buying the family subscription and want to get this right. Would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks mate

I've already got my family mebmers with existing google accounts, so it should be good to use these right? Just a little unsure about the dummy account and how/where it fits into the equation.

        • . Have au account (dummy account if you're paranoid of ban)
          .add your mates or family
.THEN do your india account setup via vpn
          .voila cheap utube

  • I redid mine about a week ago and works for me. My issue is that my main account swirches to rupee in the play store but another family member doesn't so not sure why this happenes

  • Hi all,

3 month expired and tried to sign up again, but this time it would not accept my credit card details that I used earlier (as the address entered during payment on google's payment page was indian based (faked it), but the actual credit card is Australian based) and now it won't accept the same credit card details. What payment method works best on this?

It apparently wants the credit card address to be Indian aswell. Stuck here.
