Xiaomi Mi 9T (6GB + 128GB) $479.20 Delivered @ Xiaomi Australia eBay Store

1870
POLLEN20

Seems like a decent deal for this phone. They've dropped the price from $699 to $599 which now makes it a considerable deal after discount for those that would prefer dealing with an official seller rather than buying it for around $400 - $450 from a gray market importer. I'm personally holding out on this until I can claim back GST from the TRS when I go on holiday in January.

  • They have dropped the Mi Mix 3 to 650 on their website. Hopefully they replicate this on eBay in time for this coupon (I know this is unlikely)

    • +1

Even if they add the mi mix 3 to their ebay store than you can with the code, it will come down to $520. I think for all the hope and wait, you can grab one right now for $525 from their amazon page

  • damn good deal. hate to be pedantic but i want black..

  • +1

How does the Camera compare to Huawei Mate 20 pro? Selfie and Rear?

    • cannot compare with Huawei, I heard the front facing camera is the worst, check MKBHD's youtube review

      • +1

Have a look in the comments for that video though, people think he got a bad unit or it was broke as other reviews have praised the camera or at least have way better photos then what came out for him

        • Oh awesome that's good to know. That review kinda put me off a bit to be honest

          • @matyr: yeah i have been going back and forth between the mi 9t and the mi 9t pro, the pro has Snapdragon 855 this deal for the non pro only has a Snapdragon 730 still only difference i have seen mentioned in reviews is the the pro is little snappier and can do 4k 60 video recording.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0J66CtsAUA unbox therapy review of the pro model he also has the high spec model that has 8GB ram and 256gb storage, have to remember this phone does not have expandable storage so remember that when looking at which model to get, i have seen the 8GB with 256gb storage pro model for roughly $630 from tobydeals with 3% discount code and 1.5% cashback from shopback

think i will wait till pro model with more ram and storage is closer to $600 mark if im going to upgrade i dont want to upgrade again in a year or 2 want to future proof myself at least a little longer. i am still rocking galaxy S7 duo i got for $600 back in 2016 from qd ebay deal.

            • @FreoIsaac: I would buy the mi 9 instead if you're looking at spending that much.

              • @morgs640: why the mi9 has basically same specs but smaller battery and the $630 Mi 9t pro has 8gb ram and 256gb storage

                • @FreoIsaac: OIS much nicer weight and dimensions, better build quality and a real flagship phone.

      • Bad unit. Checkout other reviews all say its really great

      • Just had a browse at JB Hi Fi. Can say the camera is pretty damn good (selfie). Couldn't test the rear camera though. For less than 500 dollars this phone is definitely a bargain.

  • Big battery! 4000 mAh but USB 2 :(

    • +2

What do you mean by USB 2? It has a USB C port with 18w quick charge

      • +2

It may be USB-C with quick charge, but the data connections on the port are limited to USB2 speeds due to not having the extra data pins for USB3.

      • +2

USB 2.0 is much slower as it was released in ~2000
USB 3.0 should be standard across the board

Moving data across devices via USB 2.0 is slow.

Checked the specs out here (If thats not the accurate specs, ignore my comment, I just wouldnt even go to a USB 2.0/Micro USB connections after having USB 3.0+/USBC)
        https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_9t-9738.php

        • +1

See what you mean, even the Mi 9 still has usb 2, but the 9T is usb C going by your link.

Even the Samsung A70 is also usb 2, but my beloved HTC 10 I'm happily still using had 3.1 usb C back in 2016 already.

I suppose they're the little extras that you get ( as well as a faster CAT radio and dual ac wifi ) when you pay extra to get a flagship phone.

For some people it works out better to get last years/or two flagship at a much reduced price.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: Absolutely, the Mi 8 is a great buy nowadays. Got one for $293 with the eBay UK Coupons.

            • @morgs640: Nice one, good choice at a ripper price. Does yours have B28 as I don't see that listed on the

specs in gsmarena.com? Ticks most of my boxes for next phone as long as I could get one with

B28 and Global Rom. Can you link the listing of your model, 64/6GB? Do you think it will get

upgraded to Android 10? Enjoy your new phone.

              • +1

@ozhunter68: It would almost certainly get the Android 10 update I would think. No band 28 which I found was a little bit of an issue indoors compared to my mi 9 se which stayed on 4g the 8 sometimes drops back to 3g.

I'm not sure if it is available with the mi 8 but the Redmi note series used to have a Taiwan version I think it was that had band 28.

  • just curious is the Xiaomi phones from Australia eBay Store the same as the xiaomi phones from gearbest?

    • +1

Gearbest possibly China stock..not global rom

      • +2

I received my Gearbest 9T last week and it most definitely has the global rom including band 28

        • easier just to get local ones, so we can sort out warranty etc. and local power plug

  • Thanks OP. Knew I'd fine a good way to spend my recently acquire $500 ebay gift card money.

This essentially worked out to $391.19. Not behd, good price.

Now what do I do with my remaining $21.80? Maybe some cheap Bluetooth buds.

    • +1

      What calculator are you using?

      • +1

Paid 408 ish for 500 worth of gift card which is around 18.4 per cent off.

18.4 per cent off 479.20 for this phone is around 391.

        • Where did you pull $21.80?

          • @TomGum: Whoops, should be $20.80 (the remaining face value of my ebay voucher).

  • so now need a clear case for this.
guess the cases have a cut out for the camera to pop out?

    • -1

      No shit

    • +1

I bought the spigen case as most cases don't have the right size cutout and the plastic cases have sharp edges marketing them uncomfortable to use.

      • Thanks I bought the nilkin one. Let's see how that goes

  • +2

Any good deals on the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro 8GB/128GB?

  • +1

Phones havn't really advanced much in 2 years.. looking for a reason to upgrade from an s8 but can't really find one aside from extra screen real estate.

    • Agree. The S8/S8+ and even Note 8 were/are really good phones could say at the leading edge of functional design.

    • +1

No need to upgrade that model as long as your battery is still going ok.

  • I wonder if this model has B28. eBay description does not list Band 28.

  • I dont know anything about phones this or a samsung a60, 50, 30 ?
I care a little about taking nice photos but dont do much else with my phone - i have a p9 with a crazy battery

    • I too am interested!

    • +1

I have a Samsung A50. Purchased in April from the Samsung store in Singapore Airport during a transit.
My previous 3 phones have been Xiaomi Redmi devices…..
The A50 has a great screen and I'm happy with the photos from the camera.. however, what has really let me down is the battery life. Yesterday I got about 2hrs30mins screen on time before the phone asked me to plug in the charger. This is disappointing for a 4,000 mah battery.
So, I've purchased this Mi 9T. I've always been blown away by the battery life on my previous Xiaomi devices… so I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this.

      • +2

I found the A series build quality to be a little inferior to most Xiaomi models and these will have a better camera. The A series are good value but still can't compete with Xiaomi.

      • sounds like thats a battery issue with your A50, the 4000mah with the a50 processor should last all day.

  • Can anyone comment on the camera quality?

  • Does this seller provide a proper invoice?

    • +2

      Have requested one.
Will let you know if they provide it.
Its a public holiday in NSW so may only receive a reply tomorrow.

      • It's only 1 year warranty, so I assume that's grey import..

    • +1

      just received mine.
invoice was included, with ABN and an address in Newington so should be a 2yr warranty as per me.

      • I got this response from them
"This phone comes with 12 month warranty periods since the date of purchases.

        Mi Official Store"

      • They also said it was an international version, which is exactly the same as kogan and being a direct import with 12 months kogan warranty

  • Anyone ordered this and have their phone shipped yet? I ordered Sunday night, and it has still not been marked as sent 2.5 week days later.

Really hope to get this by the end of next week before going on holiday.

    • As above, ordered Friday, got it Tuesday

      • Was your order updated with tracking? Or did the item arrive before the order was updated?

        • Mine has been marked as sent & tracking number provided.

          • @aussie1990: Update: I paid $14.95 extra for Express Post - but they've sent it using normal Parcel Post
            :(

    • I ordered Saturday and haven't received any dispatch notice.
Kind of understand because it was a public holiday in NSW on Monday.
I paid extra for Express Post, so kind of bummed it hasn't been dispatched

      Update: Dispatched

    • +1

Got sent today. Must have been a bit of a backlog from the holidays. Hopefully it'll arrive Monday.

  • Any comments on speaker quality? In particular YouTube as I'm using a phone with stereo speakers and stream videos a lot.

  • +1

This with a few extras and $60 shopback (spend over $500) seems pretty appealing now.

  • Missing my clean Android experience.. Can't disable some stock apps :(

    • +1

Try the Xiaomi.eu ROM. I'll be loading that when my device arrives.

      • Thanks for the suggestion.. not worth the time that'll take me to muck around.

Did plenty of that in my Galaxy s2 and s3 days

  • Anyone else order one and are having issues with using NFC? I unlock my screen to pay and all the eftpos machines i have tried just say tap error

    • +1

      Will try this weekend

    • +1

I had this error in my mi 9, you will need to change the default payment app to the one you are using. this what fixed it for me.

      • +1

Yeah tap error for me too.

@msmhw could you please expand on that solution. Without NFC pay I'm not keeping phone

Mine says gpay is the default under tap went pay settings

        • +1

I am using the commonwealth app for Tap & go. Once I changed that to default payment under Tap & pay option it worked.
you may need to change to HCE or SIM wallet under the secure element position. Depends on the app you want to use.

    • Found this as a possible solution, have changed mine too hce but can't try till tomorrow..

      https://c.mi.com/thread-2123080-1-0.html

    • +1

      Thanks. So for 9T
      Settings/Wireless&Networks click more>Secure element position/Select HCE.
      Works great now

      • +1

        Great

      • +1

        Mine works too..yay

  • They've increased the price to $649 so it's now $519.20 after POLLEN20 :(
