Luckily just got out of contract with Telstra, so will give these guys a go seeing the positive reviews.

  • Tempted but no VOIP it looks like - when will this be available?

Also, is it possible to get a VOIP provider that isn't your NBN provider?

    • +1

Yeah you can get voip with any provider. Most people seem to go with Mynetfone

    • +3

It's also wise to have a separate VOIP provider to your ISP. Allows you to switch ISPs without affecting your phone service.

      • Well said, I ditched my landline number and couldn’t be happier. I was only getting sales/scam calls, I couldn’t take it anymore

  • Thanks OP - was with ABB, submitted request at 9:10am, offline at 9:17am, online with Superloop at 9:30am.
Also, was told I could not get faster then 16mbps when I was with ABB - my current speed with superloop is 25mbps.
Yes - I went through all the things with ABB technical support to try and resolve this but they informed me that was as fast as it would get due to my location from the node (approx 1.2km). Will see how Superloop goes.

    • Did you get a pro rata refund from abb?

      • Thankfully, my invoice date with ABB is tomorrow, so it worked out per the previous ABB example.

        • +1

          Worked out nicely there!

  • +1

Add me to another ABB customer moving to something cheaper.
Do I need to change modem? It'll just keep working after churning?

    • +2

I was with ABB and here's what happened for me: I got a text from Superloop stating they got my order then I got another text stating that it had been completed. I restarted my router and that was it.

  • +1

Great deal, not sure how they're making any money on the 50/20 plan but with no contract what have you got to lose?
*Was up and running in 10 mins, transferred from Aussie Broadband, so far speeds are excellent. :)

    • Superloop reports $70m loss on major write-down.

      They're not.

      • This feels an awful lot like the Telecube saga (which resulted in my internet cut off and a credit card chargeback). Combined with this article it is pretty obvious that this is a loss-making strategy to steal customers. On the one side I love a bargain. On the other side, I joined my current and previous ISP on "discounted for the first 6 months" plans, and feel bad to keep churning. Then again, I shouldn't be paying so much for internet.

  • i currently using ADSL2 and just got NBN at my premises do i need to pay for the first time connection for NBN service?

    • +1

As long as it's a standard NBN connection, the NBN co will come and install it for free, and provide the basic modem.

      • got it cheers

  • Does anyone know how the speed/capacity is in Tasmania with the link across Bass Strait??
Also, I use a Dynamic DNS service; does Superloop use an internal NAT which breaks that? If so, can you opt-out like Aussie?
    Thanks

  • I finished Aussie Deal just this month but have Referral credit to use so cannot take up this deal :\

    • Depends on how much referral credit vs the 6 month savings here?

    • how much referral credit u got mate?? this deal runs till end of year if not extended further or replaced by another one

  • I am currently on TPG FTTN Connection with Archer VR1600v1.0 Modem.

If someone has answers to the following:

Will Superloop connection work with Archer VR1600v1.0 modem?
What protocol is used for the WAN connection? PPPoE?
What type of IP do they provide? Static or Dynamic?

    • I have the exact same questions, someone please answer these!

    • No PPPoE, DHCP is used

Standard dynamic but $5/m for a static

Not sure on the first one, it most likely should unless it has locked VLAN or something

  • I hit up AussieBB chat to ask about final bill:

    Britt 09:58:03 am
Hello, I'm part of our Australian based Sales Team - how can I help you today?

    Rick 09:58:48 am
Hello, not sure that it's sales that I need. I'm a current customer and possibly looking to switch to another. I'm in the middle of my current billing period. If I switch today do I get billed prorata or do I pay the whole month? Cheers

    Britt 09:59:04 am
Hi! I'll send you through to our customer service chat and they will look into this for you there

    You were transferred to Ashley
    09:59:10 am

    Ashley 10:00:06 am
Hi Rick, if you want to close the service and get a pro-rata for it just advise the accounts person you would like this and they can do it for you

    Rick 10:00:23 am
Okay that's good to know, thank you very much.

    • +2

Correct, I just went through the same process over the phone after switching. I was 4 days into my new billing cycle so was charged like $7, very easy, Aussie Broadband are a great company but money talks.

      • Regarding canceling before billing cycle - my invoice issue date is 18th Oct. If I churn to Superloop today and cancel ABB tomorrow (17th) - is this the correct/best way to do it?

        • +1

yes, you shouldn't owe any money to ABB in this case.

      • +1

Spot on. I've had no problems with AussieBB but $10 less per month and THEN the promo is too good to ignore.

        • I just got told I would need to give them 30 days notice, if I didn't I would have to pay full month amount. I'm currently in my 5th day of a new cycle. So I'd be paying for 25 days I'm not with ABB

          • +1

@Danstar: Upon advising of other users from OzB and WP being able to pro-rata. They changed their tune

            • @Danstar: They may be in "limit-damage" control mode as an exodus of ABB customers happening in just 24 hrs. Normally I'd stay, but $30 difference is too much.

  • +3

Meh. I'm with SL and paying $74.95 p/m (50/20 Unlimited).

What marketing genius thought this offer up? It immediately acts as a detractor to all of your current clients.

As I cannot get $20 off per month for 6 months, it encourages me to try another ISP that is cheaper ongoing.

I see my roll over date is in 3 days. With that, I've just called and cancelled my SL service. I get three more days, and nothing more to pay.

Just signed up to Belong. Trying $60p/m m2m. If all goes well, I'll move to $55p/m 12m contract.

    • +1

never hurts to ask. Just message Michael Blake on whirlpool. He looks after existing customers all the time.

    • +1

why would you sign up to belong crazy…

    • +1

Belong asks for modem fee for month to month plan

    • RIP

  • Good deal. To bad I already signed up one month ago

  • Does anyone know if they have static IP address? Or if they offer them?

    • they offer it for $5 p/m

  • Successfully moved from Aussie Broadband in all of 10 minutes. Speeds identical (FTTP). Excellent! Thanks OP!

  • I was migrated from skymesh to superloop in my area. Really happy with the speed and support. I'm on no contract and paying $80 per month 100/40

  • Do they send u a confirmation email or text once the churning is complete?

    • Yes. Mine took a few minutes.

      • Interesting. My churn from Internode to AussieBB was minutes. I'm currently at 3 hours for the Superloop churn and haven't heard anything yet.

Just being impatient I guess :)

        • +1

Took me a few hours to hear back and then it all happened very fast.

          • @Dwil06: Yep I’m on now. Had a bit of a problem with my static IP but their phone support were great.

  • So I recently signed up with superloop on the one month free trial and am currently in that free month. Is this deal applicable to me now?

    • Unlikely given you're already a customer.

    • +1

Jump on whirlpool, search for superloop and message Michael blake he is happy to switch users from one promo to another.
      you just can't have both

    • +1

Same - doubt it. I'll just keep churning away to keep getting the best deal.

    • +2

yes just send a pm to Michael Blake on the whirlpool SL customers thread and he is helping out recently joined customers, myself included move to this deal from the 1 month free. SL is making me SuperHappy with the 2 weeks i have been with them already :)

    • +1

Thanks - I was on the free month promo and was able to switch to this $20 off/mth promo. I sent a pm to Michael Blake on whirlpool as suggested.

  • Thanks op. I jumped on this and I think I was connected immediately. I’ve been overseas for 5 weeks and will be arriving home tomorrow so I wanted to have it up and running when I walk in the door. Before leaving I asked ABB to suspend my service while I was away but they said they can’t do that and they canceled it giving me a full pro-rata refund. I’ve been trying to get the Vodafone NBN 100 deal but you have to call them to get rid of the stupid Wifi hub inclusion and I wasn’t in Australia. Anyway then this deal popped up so I’m now a very happy little Vegemite.

  • Does Superloop use CGNAT on HFC connections?

    • Nope. You can see Superloop confirmation here - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/9v0z1v19?p=10#r586558…

Don't forget to use a random referral and keep the love flowing :)

      • How are you putting in referral and promo code? Won't let me.

        • +2

You have to use one of the links, not type in the code.

          • @NotAMoodle: Hmm..I tried before, and in the referal/promo box, it had a code in it already. Tried changing to the promo code for this and it didn't work. Might give it another go later when it's closer to the end date for this month.

      • Sorry NotAMoodle I don't understand the sentence "Don't forget to use a random referral and keep the love flowing :)"

        Could you elaborate?

        • +3

Up the top of the post mate, use a random referral link when you decide to join Superloop, that way 1 lucky OzBargainer will get $30 if it’s their first referral!

  • +1

So I just sign up and wait for Superloop to "churn" over from my previous provider, is there anything else that needs to be done?
    Is it really that simple?

    • +1

It is - it's just like changing mobile providers.

      • don't they keep your account login details if you wanna come back? How do we churn to a different provider and then get this deal?

    • You still need to cancel with your old provider

  • How long does a churn from Telstra to Superloop usually take?

    • I just did mine (from ABB), took literally less then 15 minutes for Superloop to be running off my modem

      • Hmm I put my order in early this morning and haven't heard anything yet. I'm in country Vic.

        • I’m metro Melbourne. Maybe quicker turn around …

          • @Danstar: Nope… I'm in rural Vic and it took under 10 minutes

            • @Megahowler: 🤷‍♂️

              Maybe wrong details entered

              • @Danstar: Details are correct, double checked. Will contact them tomorrow if not switched over by then.

                • @messiah1095: I've been waiting to churn from ABB since 6 pm yesterday too. It's probably the porting of the VOIP number that's delaying me.

                  • @ToBe: FYI: I had no VOIP

                    • @Danstar: Thanks for the info. If @messiah1095 has VOIP to port too, then that's probably the delay :)

                      • @ToBe: No voip, just a home phone number.

                        • @messiah1095: Ah cool, thanks. I think all home phone numbers via the NBN is VOIP though.

                          • +1

@ToBe: Correct. If you're on NBN, a home phone number is VOiP

    • I placed my order this morning, it’s been a day. Called them and advised it would take 2 to 48 business hours

      • Thanks for this, I will put my order through 3 days before the end of the month then, to be safe. I am with Kogan and they bill monthly so I need to wait until the month expires to maximise usage

        • +1

Just received activation text, took 1.5 days to switch from Telstra to SL

      • Thanks for the info. If i havent been switched over by tomorrow I'll give them a call.

        • Just received activation text. checked my Arlo Camera, all working fine.

          • @XLBob: Yeah it turned out my home phone was holding up my order. Told them not to bother bring it over as we dont use it. Got a text 15 mins later saying we were connected.

            • @messiah1095: Thanks, I did the same. 5 mins later got msg confirming order, 6 mins later msg confirming NBN transfer complete, 15 mins later cancelled AussieBB with prorate refund inbound.
              Take that, Belong!

  • So guys.. Is it good to jump to superloop. I am not happy with my current provider

    • +3

      look at the votes.l0l-

      • +2

        …And his own comment

I am not happy with my current provider

Everything I’ve heard is Superloop is up there with the top providers.

    • +1

i jumped 2 weeks back and am very happy with the tv streaming 1080 through the busy evening hours and no hiccups till date. using my BYO modem/router with easy setup as well. cannot ask for more at this price..

  • Does Superloop have an iOS or Android app for monitoring your account/usage?

  • Rang up my current provider and see if they can match this offer or if not, I would terminate my account with them. Got offered one month free ($90)instead after agreeing that I would stay with them for the next 3 months.

I stayed and took the deal. :)

    • Which ISP was that?

      • +2

        TPG

        • Cheers for that, I'm gonna ask them nicely too! :)

          • +1

@batrarobin: You have more leeway with bigger players and established leaders.

Another one is insurance. Hunt around yearly for better quotes then tell your current insurer to match it or walk away.

  • +1

signed up to superloop this morning 8 am, churned from Kogan by 2 pm. Didnt even need to reboot modem/router. Hitting 100mbps from servers where I never reached that speed before.
