    Or you could just get a mesh set up for better wifi throughout the house or just get an AX equivalent if one unit will do….

    Asus is great when it works… Merlin too. But yeah they can be really buggy.

    I'm no router expert. But this device was expensive when it was released 3 years ago… and whilst $349 is cheaper than other vendors, I would suggest that this deal might be more about "style" than substance.

    Is it better to get one of these to get aimesh with an existing rt ac68U that is somewhat buggy/crash prone, or to wait for the ubiquiti dream machine with ubiquiti APs for wireless uplink?

      better bang for buck to get a used 68u for ~$70-100 especially with our dismally slow internet

      i get about 500 megabit 3 metres away from a secondary 68u aimesh hooked up via ethernet

    I've had the similar Asus RT-AC88U and it has been fantastic. Very happy after some poor Netgear routers.

    The only tip I would give is to turn Airtime Fairness OFF. it is on by default and it was causing print jobs to fail when printing to both Epson and Brother wireless printers. Also caused problems with Sony wireless speakers. As soon as I turned it off, everything just worked.

    Airtime Fairness can be DISABLED in the Professional tab of the Wireless setting page.

      Do you know what type of NBN connection you got? If FTTC you simply replace the Belong modem with Asus.
