Amazon Market Place Unable to Honour Price

I placed an order for 2 items on Amazon, and I received a message from the seller stating they accidentally under priced the items, and to 'raise a cancellation request'.

I haven't had this happen before via Amazon. Can I get them to honour the contract price?

Can I get them to honor the contract price?

No. You can never force a seller to honor a price error.

There is, however, likely a reason they want you to initiate the cancellation. Perhaps sellers get penalised for cancelling orders unless the customer requests…

I'd tell the seller to do the cancellation. If not, raise with Amazon.

This. Why would you as the customer cancel?

      • Id complain to Amazon too. Fair chance they will give you some credit as well as clip the seller.

      • Yeah it is a mistake on their end why do you have to follow up?

    • Will be same as with eBay, the seller will get a transaction defect which will affect their rankings

  • Can I get them to honour the contract price?

Nope. They want you to cancel though because it affects their seller rating. So you can try and negotiate somewhere in the middle (Assuming it wasn't a massive price error) or tell them they'll have to cancel it.

Unless they do this habitually they will take the hit to their rating rather than sell too cheap. If they do it habitually (ie intentionally) then their seller rating will tank.

If it was close to the price everyone else sells it for you can try sticking to your guns. If not you might need to make a counter offer.
