  • Hows this compare to the Hisense R8?

    • Any reason why everyone keeps referring to Hisense like it’s some superior tv over every other?

      • They're decent panels that are usually cheaper than equivalents. Personally, I much prefer Samsung when you can get them at prices like this.

      • +2

It was a genuine question. What part of my question stated that Hisense was superior?

        • +4

Not having a go at you, more general question seems to asked in most tv deals “Hows it compare to hisense”, I just don’t get it would consider lg, Samsung, Panasonic first over hisense if around same price.. each to their own I guess

      • +3

This is just speculation but I would think it's because Hisense is perceived as the gold standard purely in terms of value for money.

      • They are often superior at same price points for features. I.e. Hisense R8 has quantum dot panel

    • one remote and samsung tizen is a plus, this is a much faster tv.

    • +1

To answer your question, rretty sure this marries up feature for feature to the R7
The R8 has Quantum Dot which is a semi-jump/in-betweeny to OLED land.
      This model does not.

So on paper, the R8 is better.

    Wow that's cheap…

  • +1

    thats a great price!

  • +2

Incredible price. I'm using last years version and a mate got this one. Great TV's, in particular for gaming

    • +1

Yeah I have an NU8000 too and love it. I'm sure my next tv will be an OLED because the blooming does suck on LCDs but you can't really avoid it. I paid $1500 for mine and don't regret it at all

      • did u pay 1.5k for the 55'' or 65''?

      • Yeah I will get OLED eventually for my main movie watching tv, but for my Gaming, LCD/QLED is better. OLED's have issues with burn in unfortunately.

  • Wow really nice price for RU8000

  • Good price but I have to solve out my TV unit first, not wide enough.

  • +1

Hanging out for the 82" model of this around black friday. Hoping for $2.5K

  • Also have the 55" version of this TV. It's fantastic.

    • What’s the sound like?

      • +1

It's reasonable, but a dedicated speaker set up is always going to be better.

  • Can anybody confirm this? This TV is in Betta’s November AVcatalogue.. The 65 inch RU8000 has a bonus $150 VISA gift card offer available.. are they both the same seller?

    • Yes. They are the same seller. This makes it a great deal.

    • The 65 inch RU8000

Where are you seeing that? The only 65" Samsung in that offer that I can see is the QA65Q80RAWXXY

    • +3

Why are some people so incapable of reading T&Cs?

      Terms and conditions
15 Offer not valid for sales made via 3rd party marketplace sites, including but not limited to eBay, Amazon, Catch, The Myer Market or Bunnings MarketLink.

      • Just drunk & stoned I guess?

A bit of fun while it lasted.

      • I really didn’t see it as I was a lil excited.. :( Thank you for clarifying.. was about to post the gift card offer..

        • Fair enough. Didn't mean for it to be personal

  • I’ve been wanting to get a samsung tv for my new house, however i won’t be in it for another 6mths. Is it worth jumping on this for the 65inch now, or waiting until for another deal (how often are they priced around this price?)

    • +2

I'd wait, in 6 months anything can happen.

      • likely the new model and prices back up to the $1500 mark though

  • +1

Hmm done the maths and It's only $35.00 more at my local Betta store

    1190 + 120.00 delivery on line Ends 15/11

$1495 minus $150.00 Visa Card and zero delivery at Betta Ends 24/11

    So have time to ponder

  • I've been really happy with my three Samsung TV's, might be jumping on this!!

edit some issues with brightness being reported. Depends on viewing conditions. This is for my lounge room not dedicated HT which runs a projector.. need to investigate a bit more..

edit 2 Same as Q60R apparently SDR, HDR rating 6.3….
No deal for me with that HDR performance..

    • It says 7.4 here https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ru8000
Am i looking at the right one? Which alternative are you looking at?

      • -1

Scroll down.. it outlines HDR Peak Brightness 6.3 "The HDR peak brightness of the RU8000 is mediocre"

        • -1

          I see..

        • +1

that score is basing it against the highest end TV's though. The brightness on this thing is good. You won't get better at this price point.

  • +1

Absolute bargain! Thanks, got myself one!

  • No longer available but this lg tv is priced similar. Not sure how it compares to samsung
