  • This is my point exactly about wireless charging, I'm paying more money to charge slower, wear out my nonremovable batter faster, and use more electricity, just because I don't want to plug it in. Now I have to pay even more for a fan because it's not efficient.

Inducition is awesome for some things, like cooktops. For other things… meh.

To save money I just charge my phone on my induction cooktop.

      • Wait, is that a thing? Doesn't it get burned?

I just tried, it melted my new $2500 iphone

          • @Click_It: I wonder if Apple warranty covers the damage. Do they specify the type of wireless induction we can use for phones?

    • +1

Conversely, I tend to wear out the lightning port on my iphones by the time they're in their third year - clearly I don't put them in cleanly or something. The wireless charging gives me options. I don't use it all the time, but it's now a knock-out feature for me when buying a handset…

      • I have to say I did do this when a cable I had at w9rk got buggered and it got me through until I got a new cable which was handy. I am not against the technology, or people putting in new features that maybe are fully mature yet, I get we need progress, but I just don't think we are at a level where it should be a primary charging method
