Telstra 12-Month Post Paid 60GB $65 Per Month & $500 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card - Port-in- In-Store Only @ JB Hi-Fi

1211

Looks like this deal is back on according to a banner I was just presented on https://www.jbhifi.com.au/collections/mobile-phones (https://images.ctfassets.net/i2qsnovxhn7q/59vYeF4YD6vvW0zcWH…)

My previous Telstra Family and Friends plan (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/342769) is up this fortnight so I think it's time for me to make the jump.

Does anyone have a preferred port out -> port back pathway that should work for me prior this deal expiry on 27th Nov?

Edit 12pm: Deal marked as expired as the offer is no longer a $500 JB Gift Card but $500 JB Gaming Credit.

>$500 credit towards any gaming products - consoles, games, gaming laptops, gaming chairs, accessories.

Update: 10Pm Monday 18 Nov

Deal reactivated again, and runs until 27 November 15th December

So i just successfully received the $10 port in discount per month via online chat, was very simple, straight forward and quick.

I ported in on Monday and now only have to pay $55 per month for this plan for the 12 months

I simply asked via online chat that i was promised a $10 port in credit off my bill each month as ive just ported in to telstra and haven't received conformation of it yet. The support person looked up my account and then applied the $10 discount straight away and i received an email that i was now on a $55 per month charge.

    • Sweet. I'm sold. Thanks for that :)

    • Thanks. Can confirm I just got the $10 discount to $55 per month via chat for myself and my wife account we just ported over.

      • Mind sharing how you managed that? Still hesitant to give this deal a go…

    • Has not worked for me. It would be great if it did but this discount definitely seems to be restricted to only a handful of people now.

    • Do you chat Telstra before or after getting the plan from JB?

  • Can the gift card be used online?

Telstra plan expired 2 days ago,

Ported to Optus prepaid yesterday , did a change of ownership from my mum’s name to mine via Optus over the phone otherwise it takes longer.

Went to JB-Hi-Fi this morning and signed up to the plan. Porting took 2 mins and got my $500 gift card at the counter.

Jumped on two Telstra live chats at same time asking for $10 off per month porting credit.

1st rep: Denied advising JB plans not eligible saying ended “long time ago”

2nd rep: Mentioned $10 credit expired in June.
Pushed them advising salesperson mentioned it was possible and if it wasn’t, I’d want to be released from contract via an Ombudsman complaint.

Rep then got approval from supervisor(not sure if they really did as it was approved in 1 minute) and loaded the $10 monthly credit on to account.

Received notification of $10 monthly credit instantly via Telstra email.

    Hope this helps :)

Next step: try to switch M2M plan with no ETC

    • great job - i also got knocked back so will be doing the same thing tomorrow

    • Have you had any luck switching to M2M? I managed to get the $10 off as well luckily, but no luck so far trying to get out without ETC.

  • +1

9 attempts now still can't move to m2m without etc. I think its over..

    • Dude you still make $100 profit after all.

I think I've done it. They gave me a reference number, I agreed to the T&C's. Just waiting for it to change now….

  • I was denied to port back to JB plan as it hadn’t sat out 30 days - my Telstra plan has just ended in November.

Signed for a new number anyway to try to swap numbers later, as I combined the $500 voucher with the ozmobiles price match for iPhone 11 Pro 256gb ($1849) and Suncorp vouchers for JB.

So far live chat said they cannot port me in to the plan, and in store they also said that.

So my options seem to be:
    A) stick with the new number
    B) pay the earthly termination ($390) and port my number in to a similar plan for $60/mth instead of $65, plus 50% off for the first 3 months - reduces my overall discount from $700 to $510 over a 12 month period but I’m free from any commitment
    C) pay the early termination ($390) and port in to a pre-paid plan - the $40/mth for 20gb (+15gb bonus 3 months) is probably enough for me, and has a 35 day recharge period. Would reduce my discount from $700 to $650 over a 12 month period. And no commitment.
    D) hoping there are some Black Friday deals out today that are even better than above.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hmm, not sure I want to pay 390 for an Earthly termination… Probably cheaper ways to do it

The 30 day wait can suck it. Ported out from Telstra post-paid, to vodaphone pre-paid on the 17/11/19. Went into jb hi-fi last night and got ported back into telstra on this deal. I think the final bill from Telstra has to be issued and paid to be eligible, not a 30 day wait.

    • +1

I cancelled two day agos and signed up 2 number last night was able to get the gift card though*

    • I went into the store and they just said nope after looking me up on the system… Maybe I'll wait as what you said after the final bill is issued and try again (hoping the employee will ignore the fact I ported out 3 days ago)

  • Could anyone switch to M2M plan successfully without etc?

    • I think I've done it, got a reference number, agreed to terms and conditions. No emails or changes yet though…

  • Went to jb today to get this deal.
Aparently all the telstra systems are down and they can't process the plan

    • Same. Tried to change mtm and the rep replied system updated almost finished :(

    • yup same

    • Anyone know if the system is back up? the mobile section at my local jb never picks up.

      • AFAIK no, tried porting my number over (from Optus), says “in transit” not even “processing” JB Hi-Fi person said might take 24-48 hours. Sigh, didn’t get my GC today.

      • +1

Yes ported in 5 mins, around 12:30 pm.

      • I just did it in person. Don't know if it's ported yet. I can still see the 4G symbol in the ipad that has the old SIM. Haven't put the new SIM in yet.

I was able to port ad buy a new phone in the same transaction, so even if the port itself takes 48 hours, I've still got and used the $500 card.

    • Yep ordinary

  • People who ported out and back in, does anyone know whether you keep your existing 'account' with Telstra? i.e. do I spend my points now or will I still have them once I port back in?

  • I managed to sign up yesterday! what a great offer. Was told that it will go down to $400 GC instead of $500 today, haven't verified this but $400 is still a good deal for you guys who are waiting to hit the 30 day mark.

  • hoping this comes back for christmas haha

  • Has anyone managed to switch to m2m?

    • Tried a dozen times still couldnt i had to manually switch the plan. Still had 1 number to switxh

      • does that mean you will have ETC? if you switch manually without a REP confirming you dont have any ETC?

        • Received my bill no ETC not final though.

  • I've tried a fair few reps via chat now, and all of them have said there is a fee to go onto the Telstra M2M plans, and if I wanted to downgrade to the $45 JB deal I'd need to go to JB for them to try and change plans, does anyone know if JB can actually do that? When I signed up for the deal I ended up having to speak to someone from Telstra on the phone anyways so i assumed it's all Telstra handled.

  • Anyone successfully ported out of circles life? Telstra is telling me that my account number can't have letters but my circle life account has two leading letters.

    • Took a few days after I started the process of porting out of circles for it to actually be ported out.

      • I went back in today. Turns out the bloke at JB just typed in the wrong numbers.

Deal active again? Saw the sign saying offer ends 15/12/2019 in JB Hi-fi Sydney Town Hall.

    • yep confirmed at Parramatta stating would be extended to 14 or 15th Dec… Surely they'll keep it until christmas?

  • Anyone in Sydney know which stores don't check for the 30/31 day port out of Telstra duration? Went to Parramatta and I pretty much got laughed at stating I'd need to wait a month. :(

  • Went into Chapel street store today and was told to wait 31 days from port out of Telstra. Do all stores require this?

Also, I took a pic of their expiry for the deal that is now 31/1/2020

  • Is this still active? The only deals/banner I can find on JB at the moment are the $65 for a 24-month contract with $500 gift card for use towards handsets over $999 (or less for a cheaper handset). Thanks.

    • According to some users, the deal was extended to 15 December. pataguila / Uwu

It's possible that JB Hifi are choosing to show a different deal on their website now and are running multiple offers at the same time.

      • Thanks, scrimshaw. I can also now confirm that the deal is still on. Emailed customer support on their website - they told me they cannot discuss “in store” mobile plan deals via email. When I called a store near me they confirmed that it is on until Dec 15th - $500 gift card, 12 month $65/m plan and will then revert back to $400 until the 31/1/2020.

i can onfirm the deal is still on , in store only with
500$ GC , just ported in today

  • Thanks OP ported 2 x numbers from Optus to Telstra. Pretty straightforward and got 2 x $500 GC on the spot too. Was also told deal is on until 26th Jan 2020.

    • Cheers for thw date update

  • +1

Thanks OP - completed in store and managed to port over within a few mins (no more port in text nonsense). Received $500 gc and was advised by the consultant who checked in the PC that the deal runs till the 24/12/19.

  • Can you port in from Belong?

  • Can someone verify the 30 days port out ?
My current aka ending telstra plan from 2 years ago ends today, thinking to get this plan.

But the guy at jb hifi Melbourne central mention I have to be out from telstra for 30 days - Which means by then this deal would have been over ?

    Thanks !!

    • Yah, that 30-day requirement is enforced at pretty much all stores.

      • Thanks ..
Ahhh gonna miss out on the deal then :(

        • port out now to a cheap prepaid for a month or 2, kogan etc and then wait for this deal to come back around - they come around every month or 2
