Further to Spizz's deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/501527), I found the smaller FJM bags which are going for $55.28 delivered and ordered some.
Miele has various sizes of vacuum bags, so its important to check the model number before ordering.
They are about 38% off according to CamelCamelCamel.

  • The plastic thingy which attaches to the vacuum looks the same as in Spizz's deal. While here you can sort of see which vacuums you can fit it to, in Spizz's there is no photo neither is mentioned on the page.
My model number should start with S5900 - 5999, which is missing here, but the plastic thingy looks exactly like what we have in ours. My guess would be it would fit if you look at the plastic thingy which goes into the vacuum slot.

    • Maybe I am confused by your comment but I don't think it is any more complicated than checking if your vacuum takes GN or FJM type bags (information which is featured in both posts). As borntospeed said above, the FJM is smaller and is for smaller vacuums.

      • The plastic thing which goes in the slot looks the same in both posts, and same as in ours. I can only think of one reason for it not to fit which is that it might physically be smaller, but same shape, so the slot wouldn't be able to hold it.
What would be the purpose of having vacuum model numbers on the box if we only need to look at whether it is GN or FJM?

Looking at this, you could fit those bags in other vacuums. The only difference is the bag size, these being smaller, https://www.abbysguide.com/vacuum/discussions/46217-0-1.html

        • The connector may well be the same but it doesn't change the fact that the machines are designed to take one or the other.

The purpose of having the model number might be if you for some reason didn't have your manual handy to see if it specified GN or FJM bags.

I believe that Miele are also consistent in their colour coding and the plastic on the bag it should match the colour on the machine.

TBH I don't really know what you are getting at though.

          • @bargainpersona: What I am getting at… that both bags fit although not good to have a bigger bag in a smaller vacuum. So technically I could put this in ours and the only drawback would be it would fill up sooner.

            • @bargainparker: The GN holds 4.5 litres while the FJM holds 3.5 litres, so another drawback is that it is less economical.

              • @bargainpersona: Ours take GN, yet when it is in it looks like it should be smaller as it hardly fits, yet that is what fits our vacuum. Smaller might be good for those who don't vacuum frequently, so if there is any odour, there would be less as it would be replaced sooner.

  • Purchased, went up to $60.61 immediately after though.

  • If anyone wants to split the pack I just bought let me know. Perth.
