Thanks!

Slightly above you budget however I just purchased a Moto G8 Plus for $499. Very good phone for the price. Due for latest Android version (10) at end of the year. Newly released phone October. Lots of pros. Only con is the camera is average in comparison to other current smartphone cameras.

      Slightly above your budget

It’s $249 over the OP’s budget I don’t think that is called slightly above budget…

      • also 99.6% over budget
        .

that is the norm in all govt infrastructure project. a mobile phone is a person's communications infrastructure. hence $249 above budget is alright.

    • $499! I thought that was a sub $400 phone.

The Moto G7 (non plus) last went for $279, as that is an outgoing model I'd expect it to be going on clearance on xmas. It's not flagship however.

Xiaomi Pocophone was also a popular budget choice according to the WSIB polls.

    • "slightly" above HAHAHAH. why did you bother wasting your time typing everything the rest of your post.

I think with your budget better to get a budget/midrange phone of 18'/19' rather than getting a 3+ years old flagship.

  • I'd sell you my iPhone 5s for $150 lol. I'm curious too in that price range, or even up to 400, just not a damn phablet size, which leaves about 1% of the market nowadays…

Nah, team Android all the way

      • 5s is my first and only iphone, otherwise a few androids before that is my phone history. Not much in it really, very similar.

I picked up a 2 weeks old 128GB P30 Lite for $200 (buyer went back to using an Apple). Was originally purchased from JB Hi-Fi (sale included box, accessories, and the receipt).

It's no flagship but pretty hard to beat its price/performance.

    • cool story, that really helps the OP doesn't it?

  • I got a Xiaomi Redmi 8T for less than $250 the other day. I’ve currently got an iPhone X but I thought I’d try out this android phone and see which I prefer.

  • Samsung galaxy s7?
