Amusingly I got a CamelCamelCamel notification that the 64GB dropped to $569 this evening (still sold out though), but it went back up to the current price shortly after.

    • I noticed this as well. Shame really. I'll just wait til the next sale as it's a want and not a need.

      • You missed out friend. I got the 64gb one midnight blackfriday. Just got it and am not regretting it. This 128gb sounds like a very good deal though. Kind of wished I had waited and got it instead.

  • I've got both. Awesome devices!

    • Which do you use more often? Is the Rift S cable actually a real annoyance in wired PC VR games?

      • Sorry… I have both the 64gb & 128gb Quests. Since I travel a lot for work and the missus loves Box VR I had to buy a second. I bought the 128gb for going away mainly for media.

I also have CV1 setup (not an S) and I personally didn't mind the wire. I mainly played Elite Dangerous and driving Sims do the chord wasn't really an issue for me. Even standing games it wasn't too bad but you do know it's there.

With the Quest now having "Link" capabilities I'd go the Quest for the best of both worlds.

        • Kinda wish I'd seen this sale before I bought the S on Friday, especially since only my desktop has DP ports, my laptop (even though it is within spec) does not. Using Oculus Link on both would have been nice.

  • I love tech so I got a Quest (started with Cardboard, GearVR, HTC Vive).
I don't really game so I rarely use it (my kids do).
But after having a go on my one…
My sister who hates tech has one to play BeatSaber every day.
My father in law who is an older gentleman has one… Tai Chi, Boxing, BeatSaber.
Quest is good and easy VR.
Not as good as (even my old) HTC Vive,
but so much easier to use and be used,
and so much cheaper than my approx $5000 HTC Vive setup.

My gearVR always overheated so quickly and I ended up giving up with it. I enjoyed it, but I'll have to get something better.

    • +1

      $5000 is overkill

      • -1

        Vive released at what $1700?
$3300 on a gaming PC isn't unheard of especially as you'd be in the 80's series cards to drive a Vive Properly.
so $5000 is probably "normal" for a VR setup

  • I notice that the bundles on the Oculus website include Vader Immortal. Is this something that the Amazon product will have as well, or it's going to be a DLC code on a slip of paper that's missing?

Edit: Ordered it anyway - FOMO got me.

Apparently you get Vader Immortal when you register the device so you should be good…

      • I bought it through Amazon (31/11/19) and have just received it (2/12/19). I can confirm that upon successful setup of both my Oculus account and the headset itself, Vader Immortal Part 1,2,3 where added to my library. Deal only runs till 1/31/2020.

  • Damn, been waiting for the 64GB version to drop for ages. I wonder how long it was $569 for.

If ShopBack do another $50 Cashback + 10% Zippay tonight, I might bite the bullet at $649.

  • Question for everyone, why not go for the rift S? Is it not cheaper and most will have a techfast build somewhere right (or can get one for cheap)?

    • Untethered VR is pretty compelling, especially if you use the likes of www.vrdesktop.net that allows wireless SteamVR streaming.

    • Not everyone has a VR capable PC or the upgrade may be a significant additional cost to enter VR.

    • Quest is untethered, and most people may not have a killer PC to run Rift.

  • is there a chance they will do a Quest 2.0 in 2020 with better processor, higher refresh rate, and a less front heavy design?

    • Maybe not 2020 but I'm sure the quest will be revised at some point.

    • I'd kill for a higher refresh rate. I gritted my teeth and bought an 80 Hz Rift S, but I'd have to shell out for a 90 Hz/better processor Quest…

Oculus Link will buy them some time before updating Quest

  • Suncorp still has 5% Bonus on Amazon eGift Cards too.

  • Price gone up as I was about to pull the trigger. Oh well. Might try Boxing Day.

  • I pulled the trigger on Saturday night (for $799) and was sad to see the price today ($714) so I thought I could call Amazon to see if they were able to refund the difference. They gave me me the run around saying that they couldn't change the price since it had already shipped blah blah blah. Anyway, the girl on the phone told me I was able to cancel it and reorder one at the discounted price. I was thinking "Great!"

So when the order was cancelled, I tried to order another one but it said that I had reached the limit and it was one per customer. I called customer service again to explain what was going on. They said "Yeah, this is true and we can't change that…" and offered me a $30 certificate? Wasn't too happy. Asked to speak to a supervisor but got the same thing. She bumped the gift certificate up to $40 and then finally $70 after putting me on hold for 5 minutes to discuss this. But during that time I'd created a new amazon account and just bought the 128gb model at $714.

Long story short, amazon customer support sucks and I got $70 credit plus the price I wanted when I did things my way.
