No reviews on Goodreads, only a handful of fake review from the same day on Amazon.
No information about the author, and it seems to be the only work from her.
In other words, this is priced as much as the book actually worths - nothing.

EDIT: there are other free and equally garbage CBT books on Amazon, no deal - https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=cognitive+behavioural+therapy&…

Bot needs an upgrade to post only good deals.

I have not read this book, but you assume a writer's first book is worth nothing if it is their only work seems odd to me. Many authors and film makers (and I'm sure many other creative fields) have had a great first release. I think, J K Rowling did okay with her first book. While I'm sure there is plenty of scope for this book to suck in many ways (remember I have not read it and possibly neither have you). That Harry Potter book did okay.

I think I get what you are saying though is you suspect that it's a pen name and someone has just cobbled together freely available info and churned it out for free to get a heap of downloads with the intent to fool someone into paying for it later. And I too suspect that may be the case.

  • Can I become a counsellor after reading this?

    • +1

Yes - reading it won't prevent you from doing an actual course and becoming a counsellor. Although CBT is not delivered by counsellors, but by psychologists / psychiatrists.

      • Why can't counsellors give CBT? What do they do instead?

        • +2

          Counsellors can deliver CBT
If you have the appropriate training in CBT you can do it
          I should know… I'm a qualified counsellor

@ocoolio - please don't throw around false information

          • @Chippps: What's the difference between a counsellor and a psychologist? Do you mind if I pm you?

          • @Chippps: Unfortunately, counselling is wildly unregulated in Australia. A simple crash-course is enough to call yourself a counsellor and get registered with the Australian Counselling Association. However, even the masters level counselling courses do not come anywhere near close to clinical psychologist training. It's a bit like when nurses believe they are as competent as doctors.

And that's why many firmly believe counsellors should not deliver CBT, @Chippps. Legally, you can - everyone can, even the bartender at your local pub. But you are not qualified to treat people with mental health disorders. You can cause more harm than help, and if you believe CBT is necessary for a client, you are probably suspecting they are struggling with a diagnosable mental health disorder. In this case, your job is to refer them to a psychologist, who was trained to work with people with mental health issues. Counsellors are not.

Automate the boring stuff. For starters, then augment for your needs.

      • Do you mean this?
        https://automatetheboringstuff.com/

I am essentially looking for a manual/handbook with top Python functions/commands so that I could refer to it spontaneously when I am writing my codes. Can’t remember all the syntax on top of my head.

Stop Procrastinating: Simple Steps to Increase Productivity and Overcome Procrastination

Can't decide whether or not to get this one…

    • Just come back to it later.

The descriptions and reviews for all of the Python books look very dodgy. The Data Science one sounded more promising, but then finished with:

Get fit, happy, and stress-free life by ordering your copy right away! also, Don’t miss out on this Data Science from Scratch with Python!

  • Is there a way to get these books without a kindle?

    • +1

Yes, you don't need a kindle device to own and read kindle editions of the books - can use kindle app on your phone or just go to https://read.amazon.com/ (US) or https://read.amazon.com.au/ (AU) on your computer and start reading

      • Awesome, thank you. That was very easy.

  • Self-Discipline isn't free anymore.
