Ozito Power X Change 4Ah Battery (Black Box Only, Red Box is $69) $29 @ Bunnings (Excl. NT)

1840

Price doesn't seem to be updated online but (EDIT: Website has now been updated.) I just bought a couple for $29 each at Bunnings O'Connor, WA.

I assume this is nationwide to match ALDI.

EDIT: The discount is only for the black boxed batteries, not the red boxed ones which are the same except for the different packaging, battery colour, GTIN (barcode), and inventory number:

  • Man ive been waiting for this to go down…still full price $69 @ Caroline Springs Victoria. Sad

    • +1

I was going to say I was there yesterday and saw no discounted items for the range. Annoying cos I consciously chose to go Ozito instead of Aldi power tools thinking there would be heaps of specials opportunity, but to date, haven't seen anything.

      • Yeah I had the same thought they might lower prices on their units and especially accessories but I was wrong.

    • I just bought one for $29. It's the older style black casing I stead of red. 7 left in the tools section of Caroline springs

      • yeah I saw those too but its not LiOn type of battery…Im after the lion type ones for longer battery life

        • The $29 batteries are Lithium Ion batteries just like the $69 red batteries. They give “high performance and long life without compromising user safety” as quoted on the box.

        • Says LiOn on the side of product image on the site

  • Just got 2 with black box for $29 each, Bunnings Balcatta. Red box is still $69. The guy at the toolbox counter for some reasons wasn't very helpful. He scanned the red one for $69. I asked him to scan the black one, he was very hesitant and kept saying they are the same price but I insisted. The guy behind me decided to get 2 as well.

What's this about black and red box? Why is there different boxes and reason behind it.

      • I would also love to know the difference…
Does anyone know?.. as far as I can tell…it's just the box

      • I'm thinking old vs new batch (?)

      • It's just a promotional deal, limited QTY at a lower price (the black box)

Red ones are the normal stocked line and not going anywhere

  • +1

Has anyone stripped these for the 18650s?
Know what brand of cells they are?

    • Yes, please do tell!

I think people have taken this the wrong way.

I don't need this info at all, but I'm also here saying thanks for the effort.

It's easy to do, and can help a LOT of people… but VERY little people (myself included) find/make the time to do it.

          • @Ulysses31: haha, they did. But oh well. Thanks for seeing what I initially meant (but which must've been poorly worded).

      • How would these Tentenpower cells compare to the Samsung cells in the ALDI packs?

      • Stripped for the cells works out to be $2.90 a cell. Not too bad if the batteries are ok

  • +5

For those waiting, lady at Bunnings reckons the rest of the 4ah (red boxes) will also be discounted Monday to the same price to match the price

    • +1

Still $69 in hoppers crossing vic

  • Setting my alarm clock, just in case. Got the 36v mower from the tip for 10 bucks. Works great but the blade needed hardening what caused a mess using a plastic bottle bottom to hold the quenching oil. Anyway the house is still standing.

  • +1

Bunnings also has the standard charger for only $10 - 2.5 hrs to charge 4AHr battery. (Fast charger is $30)

    Is that also WA only?

    • I'll say no. I've seen that at various VIC stores for a couple of weeks now.

    • Saw that price on the Gold Coast Qld last week.

  • Well I will be going to find out tomorrow morning if Midland has any and will report back here.

    • Please do. Midland is my store too.

      • +1

All gone. Spoke to the Ozito rep. All stores had stock but only 40 units per store. They were exactly the same as the usual ones without the red rubberised grip underneath.

        • Thanks! Now I need to decide if I should scour other Bunnings or take my chances and wait till Aldi start selling their equivalent battery this weekend.

  • +2

I have makita tools but have recently bought aldi charger with 2ah battery for $19 for both. They also had 4ah batteries for $19….

Aldi skins are very cheap when on clearance… bought multifunction tool for $29… etc

    • Which store please?

  • I can confirm that the Moorabin store has some of the black box ones for $29. I purchased a couple not sure how many they have left, best to call them first.

  • OP please update the post, the linked item is not the one that is down to $29 at this time, it is the promotional line (looks exactly the same except for no colour on the battery, black box instead of red)

The promotional line is not listed on the Bunnings website but stock can be checked by quoting this line: 0169989

You should remove the current link you have up as it is probably confusing people ;)

    • I think someone needs to confirm if they are marking down the Red boxed batteries as well.. I'm waiting for that too since the red boxed ones scanned at $69 for me yesterday as well.

    • I have updated the post as suggested with more information. A link is required for the deal so I have left that as is for now given it is practically identical.

  • Thanks OP - going to get one today. Will report back!

  • No black box/discounted batteries at Altona early this morning when I popped by.

  • No deal in port Lincoln SA.
    The driver was 79.

No black box batteries and red at full price at Coburg Vic

  • No 0169989 in stock at Castle Hill NSW and none in the stores around according to the computer. Red one is still $69.

    • Did you buy the black one? How many black ones left?

      • 0169989 is the black one. None left.

        • +3

          I read as "number 0169989 in stock …" :)

  • I just checked the Melton store. No black boxed 4.0ah batteries and the regular red boxed ones haven’t been reduced yet.

  • vic is completely out asked them to check all stores.

Promo for black box battery goes to the 15/1 so maybe something will come in who knows. Bunnings reps unsure

    • I've just picked 2 up at Epping for 29ea. Black boxes displayed at 35 but scanned at 29. Red boxes were 69. There were about five black boxes left.

  • Black box 4.0Ah Battery confirmed on sale at Baldivis (WA), along with the Standard Charger ($10), and Impact Driver ($79).

    All ticketed displaying sale price.

  • Some at Morely, WA.

Price not displayed, but the carton of promo batteries looks like this:

    (sorry for bad photo :)

No brand name on the cells, unlike Aldi. But ozito has a 3 year warranty on the battery, vs 1 year at aldi.

  • Geraldton (WA), quoted 0169989 computer said they had 20 in stock, but tool shop manager assured me they weren't in yet, so they may not have arrived at all stores yet?

  • Got 2 at Oconnor early morning and I believe is last stock. The red box one is still scanned at $69. I got the black box

  • Just bought 4,left 9 @ Maddington WA
    All black boxed

  • Still $69 at Bunnings Burleigh Waters

    • Love your work!!!

    • There sure as hell wasn'tstock when I went earlier. Unless like what snuffypot said the physical stock isn't quite at the same stage as the system stock.

Tested this at QLD Brendale, and it was 100% accurate.

They were behind the counter, black box as others have said.

    • Aren't those different batteries?

    • Those are 2ah batteries

      My Bad!!
      Sorry peeps!

  • 10 left at Bunnings Bibra Lake (WA), at ~7:30am WA (07/01).

  • 10 left at Bunnings Cannington (WA) at ~8am WST 7/1

  • Thanks bought 4 at Brown's plains qld although their price tag said usually $39.

  • Interesting… Woodville in SA is now showing 'in stock' but stock level recorded yet. I checked last night and none in SA. Maybe they are being sent to stores? Hopefully in stores before the special ends.

  • +6

Stock arrived in Geraldton (WA) today, picked up 2, 11 units still there when I left.
For those interested here is the 4ah RED (normal) next to the 4ah BLACK (promo) https://imgur.com/a/yeKmKMI

    • I wonder what the difference really is other than the color.

      • Red is always faster…

    • +9

Opened one of my RED 4ah and the 'promo' BLACK 4ah to see the difference.
Judge for yourselves, but it appears to be much the same with maybe a slight BMS update.

      • Thanks for that.
Good to know they aren't (in any obvious manner anyway) some special cheaper line made of cheaper cells or something like that to keep the margins up.
Unless red packaging and casing materials cost that much :P

        • They probably found a cheaper production line and decided to differentiate the two by color.

      • Thanks for that! I just had a look at the box and noticed the black boxes one charges in 5mins less time compared to the red boxed one…

  • Thanks. Bought 2 black boxes from Oxley QLD. $29 each. Just behind the counter.

  • For people watching the thread, anyone seen these popping up more on the east coast yet?

    • +1

Driving home from work yesterday evening there was nothing at Thornleigh or Dural NSW.

  • Just picked one up from Wollongong NSW store, had 17 left there. Didn't take a pic but they have it up on the bench top with the $29 price displayed, service lady said ozito rep didn't even know they were coming in, but they are apparently replacing the red box ones, and charges slighty faster.

Just an FYI if you are interested. Bunnings has an API to find store stock. Not sure if it is for public use, but I use it to easily find stock in the stores around me.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/api/v1/store/7316/0167719,016998…

Where 7316 is the store code and 0167719,0169989,0090872 are each of the items you are looking for.

    • Bookmarking it but how do you find the store no. ?

      • Go to your local Bunnings store webpage (top-left of Bunnings website normally shows your local store. If so, click on it).

If you're using Google Chrome browser, right-click and "View page source". Find "storenumber". The store number will be somewhere next to it on the right. Similarly on other browsers, you just need to check the page source and find "storenumber".

FYI, the returned result is consistent with http://projectsuit.com/bunnings_checker.php?item=0169989&ski… .

        • Like Projectsuit, very easy to use and read.

    • If it's the same as the one posted before, that'll only give a rough indication and it still might not be available (yet).

  • 18 left at Sunshine, Vic.

Popped in the regular cabinet with no price tag.

  • 9 left at Moorabbin, Vic.
On top of the regular cabinet. $69 for the red one in the cabinet.

  • Thanks OP. got from Bunnings Nunawading VIC. Few left there behind the tool counter

  • Just picked one up from Bunnings Fountain Gate (Victoria) and they had about 20 left. They said they have one more shipment coming in and then that's it, no more.

    • +1

I'll visit them on the weekend. Pakenham (not East Pakenham) store didn't have any.

  • +1

Confirm above these are $29 in NSW now just grabbed 2. No sign up and in cabinet, staff knew as soon as i asked to scan whats up haha

    • Are the red ones $29 as well or only the black one?

      • The red had sign for $69 but i did not have them scanned. I bought the black.

  • Picked up 2 from Cranbourne. Heaps left.

  • I am in Adelaide with Bunnings Marion my closest store. Asked yesterday morning but was told 4ah was $69. No black version offered. Has anyone picked up or sighted these batteries in Adelaide?

    • Here you go mate, stock list in SA
      http://projectsuit.com/bunnings_checker.php?item=0169989&ski…
Don't ask for the 4ah, ask for item no: 0169989, it's the same but in different packaging

      • Yeah i grabbed one from the further south stores. Black box was behind the counter :)

      • How accurate is this? The store I was planning on going to says -30 (yes, that's a negative value).

Can I assume that this store stuffed something up and it's anyone's guess if they have stock or not since the number is nonsense? Or is there a "normal" reason for it to go negative?

  • Picked up two from Lidcombe.
They were just sitting at the cashiers bench in the tools shop.

    • Got 3 from Lidcombe, 12 left.

  • Picked up 2 from McGraths Hill 2756. There were about 16 left.

They are on cashier counter in tool shop.

  • +1

Bought 2 from Whitfords, WA. Stock as accurate as projectsuit.com. They're not behind the counter but in a box stocked up the shelves.

    • Thank you, bought two and they were still in a box. In the middle aisle on the rack to the left I believe.
