Do I need to put the full name of an addressee on an envelope?

Couldn't get a clear answer on the AusPost website. Apologies if this has been asked before.

No, don't even technically need a name but may cause complications if they have to pick it up at AusPost without a name to verify on proof of ID.

    • The ID need only show that they live at the address. But it may cause complications if the address was incorrect and Austpost had to revert to finding the person by name only.

No, that's just a name and the only thing AusPost cares about is the address even if you need to sign.
Generally speaking, you only need your first name and last name initial (which I have always done)

  • Cheers everyone

  • I've had C Lear as my name for stuff from fellow OzBargainers before. Worked fine for an Auspost locker even.

madonna, prince, sting and bono must all get mail

  • You can either include:

    • Full Name i.e Barry Buckerneer
    • Title and Sir Name i.e. Mr Buckerneer
    • Nickname, if called this nickname by atleast 2 people who you have known for 12 months and are not related or living at the same address i.e. Bazza

    No other variation is accepted.
