  • Good phone, but now with Samsung A30-A50 released I don't know if it's worth paying more..

  • +1

anyone seen any deals on the lg v40? looking to purchase now

    • +3

Hopefully Allphones/Mobileciti is reading this and can offer us a great deal. Especially since its lunar new year and all those red packets :)

      • Fingers crossed

      • +1

        Sent both companies an email

    • I am also waiting for v40

  • Anyone know how to remove all of the LG bloatware from this phone?

    • +1

      does el factorio resetio work?

      • +1

Unfortunately not, you can disable some, but they still take up space and I still get notifications to re-activate them.

    • +1

      Start with this:
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76584629&pos…

Then root your phone, then do whatever you want.

    • +1

You don't necessarily need to root the phone (though that will be great for lots of other stuff). I dabbled with adb to remove a heap of apps and I'm a novice. Just google adb v30 or something. Don't go crazy removing everything though, read the forums - I stuffed up the calendar and had to factory reset.

  • 5% discount for those who have access to Suncorp rewards…

LG V30 vs Samsung A30… which one is better?

    • LG V30 former top end phone.

A30 Overpriced cheap plastic budget phone

      • Be prepared it's a few day wait for the gift cards.

      • -1

        Agree.
Don't know why it's being compared with Samsung's shitty mid range phone.

        • What's shitty about the A30?

  • -1

2.5 year old phone…. ??? hmmmmm Rather buy the moto G series, cheaper and fast and has plenty good features! Iv'e had 3 of them over the recent years , now on the Moto g6 plus and no dramas at all…. I know, i know no DAC, and camera not as good but with all the issues LG has had, just buy the new G8 plus for less than this and its a brand new model up to date and the cpu is fast enough for everything I use!!!

    • Where can I get a G8 plus local stock for less than this?

    • Iv'e had 3 of them over the recent years ,

      Why so many?

      • +1

        https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/search?rf=y&…

sorry i thought was cheaper, still get the g7 plus then! my g6 plus is great! Love it for the $330 I paid on an amazon deal here a year ago.

Arthur, well I had the 2nd gen moto g2, then the moto g4 plus, now onto the G6 plus, no bloatware , v clean android! i dont game so perfect for me!

    • yes, i am stuck between a Moto G7, Samsung A30 and this LG V30. i just need a phone that can last me 2 years with decent qualities. Previous phone was a Asus Zenfone 2 that died after 2.5 years of usage.

      • +1

Airbus, haha, I also had the zenfone 2 after my moto g4 plus, it was rubbish, battery was bad, slowed down horribly after 6 months, and the bloatware was INSANE couldnt remove most of it…..

        • i managed to live with all those bloatware for 2.5 years. Zenfone 2 seemed to require QC3.0 to charge it. That irritated me a lot, especially when i'm using the car charger to charge the phone on long trips. I eventually got a car charger with QC3.0 to charge it. That phone served its purpose for my casual shifts, internet, and the occasional phone call.

that's why i'm so hesitant to spend $400 on a LG V30 that i know i will under-utilise it, yet i want a smooth phone that doesn't lag when i need to toggle between different apps. My budget is around $300-350.

  • I wonder the benchmarking tests translate into real world performance?

  • SERIOUSLY!!! When you can get a Xiaomi Note 8 Pro 128G for under US$300 and US$200 for the 64G version, why are people still bordering with a LG with SD835????

    • +2

have you ever had an LG inside you?

Inside your pants pocket I mean…

    • $300 USD is a lot more than $399 AUD
And is the Xiaomi Note 8 Pro 128G, local stock with local warranty?

      • That "under $USD 300" actually come to $USD 231 @ UNISKY

Local warranty!! Don't get me started with LG local warranty. You are looking for 2 years warranty for a LG phone release in 2017? You are living in lala land.

For a sub AU$400 phone, just pay with Paypal and you have 6 months protection. If your phone last that long then should be all good unless you drop it which you can't warranty anyway.

Highly recommend people buying sub AU$400 to look at https://www.kimovil.com/en/

Set your price limited and feature set and you will see what you are missing out from believing in that local warranty !!

I DO NOT recommend buying things more that AU$700 from website from kimovil though, at that price point you do need better safe guard against your purchase.

        • -1

Link please to your $231 LG V30+

And I did not mention a 2 years warranty for a LG phone release in 2017

          SMART ARSE!

  • Thanks, OP.
Hustled the last one at my local.
    Great phone, very underrated.

  • i am confused i thought the Oppo Reno Z was a better buy but the comparison says LG better
    https://versus.com/en/lg-v30-plus-vs-oppo-reno-z

    • Here is a better way to compare:

As you can see from my previous conversation there are some fanboy will go nuts about this two year old junk…..

After all its not my money, can't stop people from flashing their hard earn cash down the drain.

      • +1

I'm not a fanboy. My main phone is an Asus.

        • My main phone is an Asus.

          Zenfone 6?

      • +1

"syswong" Calling a this LG V30+ "two year old junk" is a bit of a stretch lol.

It was a flaship that was available from end 2017 through to late 2018, and still manufactured till now.

You might not like LG, but last few years have made some decent phones for good prices, maybe not up with the best like top of range Samsung or Apple, but they are more expensive.

You realize that most people in the world don't have a phone anywhere near this quality, not even 20% of people worldwide have flagships released within the last 3 years, not to mention the millions that keep using cracked screen phones until their contract is up or can replace phone.

I also like Xiaomi as they offer great value and still use an older but still good Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 as a secondary phone at home. My main phone is an older HTC 10 ( still as new ) which is over a year older than this V30+ and still works well for my use, and would be happy to again get an older flagship such as an LG V30+/V40, Samsung GS8+/GS9+ or maybe even a Xiaomi Mi 9T with B28 lol.

        • +1

I never said people should by flagship. People are in this segment for the "Bang for the buck" factor hence I point out this phone is a bad deal

Difference between two year old flagship compare to a current mid range is really day and night. MI 9T is such a handset and the banggood deal is likely the best price I seen for a while.

One more problem with this model. It is so old that it is not likely yo get Android 10 update. You may get security patch but LG are know to be crap on that too. So there is a chance you are going to throw out $400 with a phone that will not get an update at all… I am sure there will be tech heads who will argue that you can load the ported V30 rom. Good luck getting Mum and Dad to do that!!

        • +2

This should be $349 for 2020. The price is good when this deal came mid last year but new A series have come, Galaxy s20 on horizon + Xiaomi offerings.

Before these were flying off the shelves in 2019 but all my local JBs are showing plenty of stock. Decent deal but not amazing.

          • @Top G: Agree, $349 is better deal as no more OS updates etc.

"syswong" Nice deal on the Mi 9T but no B28, pass.

            • +1

@ozhunter68: Mi 9T has B28. But I think that deal is gone, as least not on Kimovil anymore.

The Z6 Pro deal still current though.

  • Some people just like to hate on these phones.
Anyhow, my tonic for this barrage is to just lay the v30 appreciatively on a fast wireless charging pad next to the nice chair, plug in the Sennheiser HD6XX or whatever fave headphones you are rocking, lay back and listen to something magic for hours that others can only dream of.
Not everyone wants this, and that is perfectly ok with me.

    • thats so hot.

i am listening to you while you listen to music
