    • they want you to go to the Optus for a year 1st

had a chat with Boost " Thanks for bringing this up. For this request, you can only purchase the sim kit offer online and requested to transfer the credits to your existing number as well. All you need to do is to purchase the $150 plan online and the $2 sim kit so we will be able to transfer your old number to the $2 sim kit and once done, we will transfer the $150 plan with the extra 40Gb bonuses as well."

      • meaning transfer from old boost sim to new boost sim for existing customer? get them to manually add 40gb in?

    • +1

I was informed by LiveChat that Boost is a part of Telstra and that the $150 SIM Kit 120GB offer is only available to customers who port in from other carriers or get a new number. Recommended porting out to a different carrier first.

      Telstra postpaid > Telstra prepaid > Boost blank SIM from 1258881 + $150 recharge = 80GB. No 120GB offer.
Telstra postpaid > Vodafone prepaid > Boost $2 SIM + $150 recharge = 80GB. And then bumped to 120GB via LiveChat. YMMV. I wouldn't try this again.
Telstra postpaid > Vodafone prepaid > Boost $150 SIM starter kit = 120GB offer.

  • Can anyone please tell me..

Are you allocated a new 10gb each month? Or..

Are are you given the entire 120gb to use and pace it out through the year yourself?

    • +1

You pace yourself. You could use 100GB in the first month if you wanted to (leaving 20GB for the rest of the year)

    • +1

All data is given upfront, up to you to ration it over the year……

    • +1

      pace it out

      • +2

        Thanks all!

Be nice if they had the option to allocate 10gb per month on this.. For teenagers :-/

        • +1

I'll be livin life on the edge it seems

        • -1

They'd love teenagers to sign up…. and finish it all in a few months :)

Why pay money to cost them money ;)

        • +4

That's how they learn. Have 2 of them with this plan, and they really treasure their data. Helps having Android phones, so they can set the limit.
They both know the bank of Mum n Dad has no interest in further mobile phone funding until the 12 month anniversary.

        • +3

Just set monthly data limits on the phone and you're all good.

        • +2

You can do this on the phone itself! There's hard data limits that you can set so you can't go over.

    • No given 120gb to pace out that's why I've never done a year! id hate to be left with 0data… They do have $15 for 3 recharges atm!

      • +1

Just set warnings and limits on your phone.

        • Yes that's true! didn't think of that.

  • AFL & NRL is free on this too?

    • +1

      yep.

  • I activated boost sim last month. I called them up to ask if I could receive additional 40gb added however they said it is a new promotion commencing today on Feb 18th with new online purchases of the $150 sim.

    • Seems to indicate this won’t work with sims purchased elsewhere per questions above, but I’d like to know for sure.

      Update: Boost agent chat said:

So to be clear, I don’t need to buy it directly from Boost?
For example, I can get a $150 SIM from Officeworks and will still get the bonus data?
      Ivy Andrea - 8:06

Yes, as long as you have $150 sim kit

  • Been waiting for this to drop too $120ish but with 120gb for $150…. just too good to pass.

  • +3

Thanks OP! For those who don't mind porting in/out 3 more times, Koganmobile $14.90/60Gb/90Days -> Catch Connect $9.90(after cashback)/60Gb/90Days -> Kogan -> Catch Connect would net you 240Gb for under $50. :-)

    • +1

Just watch the expiry dates, I reckon Catch isn't very lenient, even if some get lucky and still work.

      • Good call! :-)

    • And not on the Telstra network

  • I am currently on Lebara paid until end of May 2020 and want to switch to Boost. Is there any way I could utilise this deal without losing 2 months (April,May) on Lebara?

    • Same except Catch Mobile and July 2020. If it was 1 or 2 months overlap I'd probably bite the bullet but I'm not saying goodbye to 4 months. Hoping another deal will come along as 80GB is not enough for me and 240GB is too much. I tend to use 8GB/month so this is perfect for me.

  • So I guess we have to buy through boost for this deal right?

can anyone confirm that a Boost SIM will work in a Telstra locked wireless modem? thank you!

    • +1

      It should

  • Damn these guys must be signing up a shite load of people with these deals.

  • I'm currently with boost.
Which provider has fastest turnaround to port out/in to get this deal?

    • +3

Not Vodafone, someone above mentioned it's taking over 5 days from voda to boost

    • I'm thinking of doing the same. My current $150 plan ends 01/04/2020.

Will have to be the cheapest too :P

    • +4

Optus (only during EST business hours)…

I went from telstra to optus to boost in less than 2 hours. But call optus that way you don't need to spend the $10 recharge

Got a free sim from optus store as the website promo could not deliver in time due to the Toll cyber attack

      • Good to know.
        Cheers

      • How to port to the $2 sim without $10 recharge>
        Thanks

      • Took me several days to go from telstra postpaid to boost as my telstra account had to be converted to prepaid first and there was a couple of delays in both processes.

  • +1

are there any deals atm for the $150 recharge???

    • All seem to be expired/sold out :(

    • Even if there was Boost Online chat guy said they won't honor SIMS for bonus data purchased from elsewhere….He said it has to be bought online only….not sure how correct he is….

      • you should've asked how can they tell the difference.

        • Maybe by SIM Numbers….

  • How about existing customers recharge

    • -3

      They can still recharge.

    • Recharge will get you standard 80GB data without bonus

  • Best value for money mobile SIM plan to date, even more so with this added bonus data. Too bad my current boost sim still have 5 months to go.

  • Awsome, much better deal then the previous. 120gig should get me through. thanks op

  • for all those who are asking if they can just buy sim from a retailer and activate online, website states:

Available to customers who buy a $150 SIM online and activate by 30.03.20.

    • +2

how would they know if its an online or anywhere else bought. All it gives you are the same recharge voucher anyways.

      • you beat me by < 1 sec.

      • +1

Maybe $150 SIMs sold online has a serial number that they keep track of?

      • Well every sim has a unique number associated with it, so they could in theory monitor that. In practice I doubt they are.

    • +1

Available to customers who buy a $150 SIM online and activate by 30.03.20.

How will they be able to tell where you got the SIM from as you don't activate it until AFTER you receive it.

    • +1

I will be selling mine online which I bought from local store.

    Don't forget Cashrewards

The chrome pop up just reminded me…

    CASHREWARDS
    $0.00 Cashback at Boost Mobile*

    • +1

      Every little bit helps.

      • It could be a due to rounding ???

        • If an organisation doesn't round up for outputs and round down for inputs, I want no part of it.

        • +1

          They probably rounded up.

  • +3

    NOTE on the Boost website

There is currently a delay to our online SIM deliveries, we apologise for the inconvenience. If you need your order sooner, please head to one of our +8,000 retailers.

    • But at the same time they say "Available to customers who buy a $150 SIM online"… But as discussed above, how would they know anyway?

      • Exactly my question asked above, how indeed

  • "Seems like a pretty good deal to me", understatement of the year. Good for those who need it, I still have 52GB left and 10 days to recharge.

    • How do you check your available data?

      • +1

        Download the Boostmobile app.

      • +2

m.telstra.com whilst on cellular no wifi

        • +2

or go care.boost.com.au on cellular too no wifi

      • +2

How do you check your available data?

I keep a notebook with me and write down all my data usage when I'm using it…

  • I'm hopeful that it applies to current customers who recharge also? The landing/offer page has both options, i.e. to buy the $150 sim, but also just below it as "CURRENT CUSTOMERS: Select $150 when you recharge"

edit: Nvm, hopped onto the chat where they confirmed it doesn't apply to existing customers (as per usual :/)

  • Does anyone know if you can use zippay to recharge the $150?

    • +1

Nope, only payment options were, Visa, Mastercard and PayPal.

  • Has Boost run a 120GB deal before? A quick OB search didn't bring much up.

120GB is perfect for me, 80GB not enough and 240GB too much. Maybe this is testing the waters for demand?

    • +1

Has Boost run a 120GB deal before?

      That's what I'm currently on… $100 for 60Gb for 6 months.

  • +1

I purchased this plan 2 days ago on a site posted here. I haven’t got the sim card yet. Probably coming next. Am I eligible for this offer?? Is it the purchase or activation required before 30.3. Can someone answer this please?

    • +1

if you have ordered the sim and havnt recharged yet then yes

    • +1

      It says activate before 30/3

      You should be right.

    • +1

I don't think they can track sale date of a given Sim card, only an activation date so presumably yes but would like to know this for sure as I'm in the same boat as you are.

  • +1

Thanks Op! Perfect timing as my contract expires next month.

  • Complete noob here but how does Telstra compare to Boost re speeds etc?

    • Boost = Telstra. Same.

    • Same retail network

  • Can you add 'free international calls to select countries' in the post? That's an important feature of these plans and it's missing.

    • Everything on this plan has not changed. The only change is the bonus data.

      • I agree but newbies who happen to see this deal for the first time wouldn't know what all is included. haha

  • Just a caution:: Boost delivery is crawling currently with delivery timelines well beyond 6-7 weeks. They dony know when it will be fixed. I had to spend 3 hours with boost CC to get my refund.

    • thanks, will buy a sim elsewhere and activate it online

    • Ha 3hours,

Ive been waiting since13/1 for my refund and still nothing

Must have at least spoken to them 5 times on phone + 8 times via chat.

  • Online Agent told me that all i had to do today was order a $2 Sim online from boost today, and then I could use my Voucher I purchased from Coles a few weeks ago. Hmmm. So i ordered the $2 sim online from boost - god knows when it will arrive. I, then engaged in a convo with another agent that said you MUST purchase the $150 Sim Kit from boost online from today to get the extra 40GB (i.e. none of us can use our discounted kits purchased in the past and activate from today AND get the extra GB). So, who do you believe?. I don't think the online guys actually know.
