Switch Version of Witcher 3 Has Received a Substantial Update Today (Version 3.6)

Heads up for all Switch owners of Witcher 3,
The game got a patch today bringing the game up to version 3.6.

Includes a bunch of graphical adjustment options similar to the PC version (I highly recommend turning off anti-aliasing and increasing sharpness to low for a much clearer image without getting too jagged).

It also now supports cross-play with the Steam/GOG versions as well if you're one of those people who prefer the Switch for handheld only and have a decent PC.

No word on crossplay for other consoles, but it's definitely better than nothing!

Game now looks a lot closer the the other versions than it was. AA was forced on by default causing a softer, more blurred image. Hackers discovered disabling the post-processing effect created a much clearer image which started an online discussion begging for the features to come to the game and now Saver Interactive have delivered.

Here are the full patch notes:

Update 3.6 — list of changes:

Added touch control support.
Added save file integration with GOG, Steam and versions of the game for Switch from different regions.
Added more text languages (in selected regions).
Added more graphical options.
Added multiple performance optimizations.
Fixed various visual and functional bugs.
Various gameplay and crash fixes.
While transferring saves from PC, please keep in mind:

Mod-related bugs and blockers might get transferred from a modded PC game save file.
If the save file name has been changed on PC, the Switch’s Cloud Save feature won't be able to recognize it.
Additional voice-over languages, added as free DLCs in selected regions, will follow later.

Apologies if my formatting is wrong.

Comments

  • Looks very good now with AA off and sharpening set to high!

    • I found high was a little too much for me in Crookback Bog. Set it back to low and now seems to have a good balance with AA turned off

      • Fair enough, people on reddit seem to say that High Sharpening is a bit much in some areas of the game.

Blown away by this update though! The visual fidelity is impressive on the Switch now, makes me want to play it even more!

        • I think I've put in a solid 4 hours already today. It's just another excuse for me to get lost in this world

  • It also now supports cross-play with the Steam/GOG versions as well if you're one of those people who prefer the Switch for handheld only and have a decent PC.

This is a game changer and worth getting if you've got plenty hours invested on PC but lack time to sit down for full play sessions now. Can always grab and go in smaller chunks on Switch. Awesome.

    • +1

Honestly this may be the best update for a AAA third party title that the switch has had

  • Game is still discounted at $55. Will definitely pick it up this weekend but I'm expecting that I won't enjoy it as much as the hype.

    • Be aware the file size is roughly 30gb.
I'd recommend physical, although it is more expensive than digital right now.

Game is really good. Full of quality content everywhere

      • This is Ozbargain. With the sale, the digital version is half the price of the physical!

        • I got a physical for $69 after Christmas

If you just had a vanilla switch console, the digital version sets you back $55 plus the cost of a microSD card as the entire game won't fit on the console itself.
