  • Anyone been to this before? I heard items are usually overpriced and sell for near retail price even though they are 2nd hand.

    • "Buyers should be aware that a processing fee of 16.5 % (incl. GST) of the hammer price will be added to their invoice."

Hmm, that's quite a bit. It adds a bit to the price.

Anyone been to one of these before?

  • i went to the last one (can't remember when it was… 12 months ago?) and it was crazy. iphone 3GS was going for $850.

    • Pity it was an auction otherwise you could've got that $850 down a bit with your Vietnamese bargaining superpowers :D

I heard the railway memorabilia went for some really crazy prices too - over $1000 for an old indicator board, for example.

  • I've been to one when it used to be at Central Station. A lot of smaller items are sold in batches, so even if you after 1 specific item, you may need to buy the entire box. This is where it can sometimes go for a higher price especially at auction events like this. In other words, unless you are bidding for that 1700s antique/heritage item, everything may not seem to be a bargain.

i think there was about … 3000 people there lol…..

Do you know how much the indicator boards went for? I have been trying to find the results, however they don't seem to be listed anywhere online.

Items include fridges and freezers…Are they selling really old ones that even cityrail no longer wants…or did someone happen to forget one on a train? lol

    • lol

    • what do u mean .. havent you lost a fridge on the train before ?? lol

I think some of this might be from lost freight as well ? i dont know …

There was a lot of Railcorp office equipment, it wasn't JUSt lost property.

Prices on anything "desireable) were absolutely rediculously high. Read the Whirlpool thread for more info, example prices, etc…

  • Slack*rses couldn't just ring someone in the address book to find out who the phone belonged to and let them know?

    • Are you serious? There were literally tens of thousands of phones.

Remember - these are the items that were lost AND nobody contacted Railcorp to attempt to find them. If the owner couldn't be bothered trying to locate the item, why should Railcorp bother trying to locate the owner?
