Apple now offering Zip pay on products (Phone orders only)

Apple now offering Zip pay on products. Not sure if this is any better value than buying off Telstra on the plan, but may be of interest.

  • Credit check with zip pay?

    • For stuff over $1000, you need Zip Money which does need a credit check I believe.

    • Yes, and you need a credit card to sign up. I would not recommend Zip pay or Zip money.

If you already have a credit card, just use that.

    • Credit check for both

  • If looking at Mac purchases, stacking 10% off discounts from major retailers with discounted gift cards definitely is a better bet. For those interested in this deal for an iPhone, I believe fees will be $6 per month while you carry a balance on your Zip account

Also the $1000 or less starting limit that Zip Pay typically provides to most new users won't get you much of a phone or mac from Apple.com.au these days…

    • Yep, a less cursory look at the numbers shows this is no better than getting it on a Telstra plan, for example, and you'd miss out on Telstra Plus points and so on. Not sure why they're bothering.

  • Reasonable assumption with Apple is that any deal they offer benefits themselves measurably more that it benefits the customer.

"providers" like Zip and Afterpay have been rogered on the share market because the professional investors have taken a very negative view of the repayment ability of their customers (That's you)

  • My Zip pay limit is $1500 since I pay it off within a month or 2, they gave me a free increase, so this might be useful to me when the new iPhones come out.

  • yes got offer limit increase to $1500 but not wifes account . i wonder how one gets targeted maybe its the length of time account is held or spend history? now the con is i have to pay back $150 minimum instead of $40
