That's better, I understand more from the translation :-)

        • +4

          lol

    • +1

That's bullshit. The iPad 2 manufacturing cost is ~$300 USD, Apple tax is not THAT extreme you know.

You're basing some figure you saw on an email invoice from a reseller and now have insight to Apple's supply chain? Amazing! Tell me more!

    • I think you will find that is the cost of the repair had you not had the phone replaced under warranty.

  • +2

Just got a Galaxy 10.1! thanks!

    • online or in store??/

      • Online - from the link above - cant get them in store can you?

  • cheapest on shopbot for Ipad 2 64GB 3G is $849 so great price

  • ahh, page not working for me at uni atm, well it did but stopped, i should stop ozbargaining so religiously.

better still be available when i get home!

  • +1

i want a Galaxy Tab but no money :P

    • -1

      Credit card ;)

  • Thanks, got myself an iPad 2

    • +7

Should have got the Galaxy :)

      • I have got one from the previous telstra deal :)

        • +4

That one was Galaxy Tab 7 inch. This one is Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Honeycomb…

  • Beside tablets, they also announce their bargain on DSLR cameras http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/category/dslr-cameras/
Good value though considering their "12-month Australia Warranty". But not sure what it means

  • D3100 kit for $489 - cheaper than all the grey importers. I just ordered one from DWI for $524 last night. Hopefully I can cancel it.

    • +1

don't forget their $34 shipping fee

      • +1

Thanks for that. I sent DWI a cancellation email but swiftly send another to retract it. I'd rather have it expressly delivered than wait god knows how long for Kogan.

        • I don't know why someone negged this. Kogan are going to get a TONNE of orders today (much more than what they are used to) and there may be shipping delays. Australian warranty is great though as you don't need to ship it overseas if something is faulty.

        • if 489+34 is the total from kogan then yes better dwi $524, i think kogan's also grey import…

      • Yeah it's 1 dollar cheap from Kogan but DWI seems to have it delivered within 3 days of ordering.

  • I hate to be this guy. But when is the next Ipad 2 coming out?

    • Unless Apple officially announces it, no one knows.

    • +12

At the same time the previous ipad 2 came out

      Ipad 1 March 2010
      Ipad 2 March 2011

  • are you able to make phone calls with the 10.1 samsung tablet

    • Yes, if you get the 3G version. But you will need to find out what frequency band the tablet uses!

      • I think like the SGS2 it uses all (quad band)

  • I checked the price in HK is about the same…so this is a good deal

  • Decent deal.

Is Kogan importing directly from the supplier, or are they just purchasing from retailers O/S at a lower cost then distributing here?

Me thinks somewhere along the line, Apple might try and cut Kogan's supply chain.

    • Yeah I'm pretty sure Apple won't be too happy about this. Impending lawsuit coming.

  • +3

I wonder how long Kogan will get away with selling them, Apple control the distribution of their products with an iron fist. So get one while you can.

  • can i match the ipad price with jb hifi ?

    • +1

      Not a chance.

  • +3

kogan finally selling QUALITY products is a huge + from me

  • I guess they could open every box and sell display models/demo etc…
    (ever so slightly used ;)

  • Just show this following news from www.news.com.au.

Kogan begins selling brand name products, claims to have cheapest iPads in Australia

    Read more: http://www.news.com.au/technology/tablets/kogan-rings-the-fi…

    • +1

“After significant market research, we have not been able to find any lower prices in Australia for the digital SLRs (cameras) and tablets we are now selling.”

I did that with a Google search.

And the thing is, all these prices are regulated by the manufacturer (Apple, Nikon, Canon) so it would be impossible for JB or HN to match these prices.

  • What's Kogan reputation like? I have never bought anything from Kogan before and I'm very wary of putting down half a grand order on some website I have never heard about.

    • They are a legit website, other deals here

only bad one was here, where I believe it was their pricing fault, other than that its all good

      • Actually they honoured every order they got despite the set top box. Received mine for $9 yay.

  • +2

    Cheaper than eBay!

  • Will the 8" be coming out (Galaxy Tab)?

  • Any discount/free shipping codes???

  • +4

I don't need an iPad. But I want an iPad. I think I shouldn't get an iPad. :(

    • +3

Make up ur mind, get one!

    • +7

Nobody needed an iPad. That's why Apple marketing is so good!

      PS get one already!

      • +1

        ^ secret apple agent

  • this is pretty cool. I think Kogan wants to beat Harvey at his own game and this is definitely the way to do it!

  • Good one OP, this is a really good price for the iPad 2 and the Galaxy Tab.

    Thanks.

  • got a call this morning from vodafone, they wanted to upgrade me to an iphone 4,
but i asked the lady if i can get a 10.1 samsung tablet instead, and she said yes but will cost me 25 dollar handset repayment. so im guessing vodafone is selling them again now?

    • Vodafone was selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v which is different from 10.1 here. I don't think they still have stock though.

  • Tempted but still same price as I can get through our work IT Supplier for the iPad2 and its Australian Stock.

    • +4

Can the rest of us go through your work IT supplier too?

  • +2

VERY tempting, but must be strong….

    • +1

Yep…the same here, have to be strong to hold on.

    • The force is strong with this deal! =(
My shield isn't strong enough to hold on… aghhhh the temptation

    • Lol at the last sentence.

"And a Canon EOS camera is being sold for $839 at Kogan compared to Harvey Norman's current ticket price of $1349"

  • The prices on the ipads dont seem that cheap considering grey import and servicing questions. After you add shipping on they are probably $20 - $60 cheaper than what you can get retail at the moment.

    • +1

I take it math was never your strong suit?

Apple products comes with international warranty as well. Nub.

      • -1

yeh sorry I meant in a retil store not RRP , if you go into a jb's and offer em $529 for a 16gb wifi I bet they take it , they do around me anyway. Kogan price $489 + $34 = $523

I no its not $20 - $60 more but I worked that on the more expensive models.

Retailers generally dont have a lot of saleable stock ( I can only guess apple hold it for their stores ) during the year but since the Ipad 3 announcement a lot more stock is flowing in and retailers dont want to get caught with it.

    Tax evasion and illegal imports.
Also, one would need to buy an Apple AU type 'duck head' for the iPad AC charger.

    • you will always get voted down around here as most ppl on this site love ruslan kogan despite his dodgy "fell off a truck"-esk selling practices.

I wouldn't buy grey market stuff but then maybe I don't fit on this site. I like the bargains that still support Australian businesses and jobs. Everyone on here hates big business but when they have a bargain it is a real bargain and not bending the laws.

kogan doesn't fit my description of an Australian company. The only thing Australian is the money they make.

  • Just as a comparison, I purchased the 16G wifi + 3G from iibuy 3 days ago for $649 - http://www.iibuy.com.au/appleipad216gbblackorwhitewifi3ginte… + $12 delivery.

Price is now $669 though, but at the time was the best price online I could find.

  • Products will be sent from overseas and they are brand new, not refurbished.

  • 32GB wifi iPad 2 is cheaper than the RRP of the 16GB version :O tempted to buy another one even though I already have one, as pointless as that sounds…

  • +3

    sorry Kogan, SS beats you!!

  • Me too….I just got mine 2 wks ago from JB Hifi!!!

    • How much???

  • +6

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52986

Better at Shopping Square as already mentioned - and cheaper shipping…

$34 shipping to 2120 is a ripoff Kogan

I trust Shopping Square more than Kogan, and I don't trust Shopping Square…

    • Only experience with SS was one Micro SD card I bought from them, not too bad regarding price and delivery. But want to say: BRING IT ON, PRICE WAR !!

  • +1

I thought APPLE doesn't allow retailers to sell extended warranty.
You have to buy APPLE CARE on ipads 1yr to 2yr only.
JB & Harveys are under VERY stict conditions in selling apple products - no extended warranty is one of them!
Must grey imports - Does that mean Apple Australia is involved in anti-competive dealings if local resellers are forced to only sell Apple Care but Kogan can sell any warranty.

I wonder who does the extened warranty for the iPads sold thru Kogan?

  • -2

I have heard the Ipad 3 is coming at end of this year which will be substantially better as the ipad 2 was rushed out due to competition.

    • +11

I heard ipad 4 is coming out next year and ipad5 is coming out in 2013. All of which will be substantially better than the previous models.

I'm waiting to buy the ipad10 as it'll be as light as a feather with 100days (give or take 5 days) battery life and have 3d display and 6G network. It will also allow me to teleport from one apple store in a city to another with the teleportation app.

      • +2

and u forgot to mention that it will finally have a USB port. But only usb 2.0 not usb 5.0

  • +1

Bad experience.. After I ordered the iPad 2 64GB 3G, Kogan called to confirm my order but I was unable to pick up my phone so I emailed their support and sales department and requested to change my order to 32GB Wifi.

The next morning, I called them on their support line and the staff said they have received my emails and will process it soon. Then later that night, they send me an email saying sorry we have already sent you the 64gb version.

    oh well :|

    • +2

So this story told: make up your mind before put order through

  • Anyone here got your item dispatched?

    • got mine today - came with a UK power adapter though - emailed Kogan straight away - still waiting to hear back - very average if they dont sort it out ASAP.

EDIT - just went through the bin, there was an Aussie adapter in the bubble wrap - the adapter is not SAMSUNG and is in addition to the original adatper.

Will APPLE move to stop this importing? Can they even do anything? Interesting times ahead…

  • hmmm galaxy tab seems to have disappeared from the site

  • +1

I'm looking at getting an iPad 32GB with WiFi and 3G as well as 64GB with WiFi and 3G and initially decided to get it from either Kogan or ShoppingSquare and that would cost me $1566 incl. shipping.

After having a look around i noticed that i can get both from JB for $1708 and that is based on the prices from their website. After haggling a bit, I'm sure they will reduce that a bit considering I'm buying 2 of them.

So based on JB's website pricing, the difference is $142 and I personally am not willing to take any risks with the iPad's themselves as well as any warranty risks plus deal with additional adapters due to incompatibility. Its just not worth it, so next week, I'll be getting both of them from JB.

My point is that the tiny bit of saving ($66 for 64GB + WiFi + 3G when you add shipping to the price for one of these) is not worth getting it from Kogan and take the risks that come with it.
    Just my 2c.

  • If anyone buying from Kogan , check your iPad warranty status.
Mine arrived 2 days ago, just got around to open the box and when check the warranty status, it says the warranty is only valid til 21 June 2012.

    • there are 2 dead pixels on the screen .. arghhhh !
  • im looking to get one of these as a present, so am seeing it a bit late

i see folks in the comments above mentioning $34 shipping, yet when i try at the kogan site, can only get "flat rate $49 shipping" :(

  • Prices have gone up probs due to the tanking AUD.

  • good quality?

  • I plan to buy an iPad2 these days.A good chance.

  • damnit, prices now gone up, no point getting it from Kogan now - JB's cheaper

  • I purchased the Ipad 2 16gb wifi from Kogan last Mon and it just arrived today after 5 business days to Perth. In the bubblewrap it came with an extra aussie plug adaptor since the ipad came from HK warehouse. Was shipped via DHL. Happy with my first purchase from them!
