COVID-19 PS4 Console Prices?

Hey hey, wanting to buy a ps4 slim and want to hear what ppl think about the ps4 prices atm?

I used to own a Pro but sold it before Christmas, obviously now I have a lot more time on my hands…

The prices have gone up with demand. I'm curious what ppl think about if their likely to drop again soon, or bite and spend $399 on a slim?

I saw the $249 on here before Christmas… I would even settle for $300ish.

Yep yep.

  • Would you go secondhand? Was looking at Cash converters a few weeks ago for one for ff7 remake. Prices were a bit better, but anything under $300 is usually the normal ps4 not slim. only seen these two slims below $400 now: White Ps4 slim $330 odd posted and there's another for $350 posted. 90 day warranty.

  • PS5 coming out this year (in theory) - worth buying a PS4????

    • +5

I agree, MrChum. I personally choose to sit and imagine playing my next generation console, rather than playing a current generation console.

If all good, otherwise expect PS5 might come out around COVID-20~21'ish.

    • worth buying a PS4????

The PS3 was around for donkeys years after the PS4 dropped … and the PS4 sold more.

There'll be a long period where most games are released on both I suspect.

      • honestly i still in love with some of ps3 games.

wonder how long more they psn will support ps3

        ne1 know any news?

  • PS4 prices always fluctuate over the year.

  • Seriously at this point just go cash converters or Facebook marketplace

  • Yeah I've been scouting gumtree and the like. I'll have to check out cash converters too, cheers!

It's shamefully only going to be used for fortnite (my nephews want me to play online as i can't visit), and a bit of Apex Ledgends (pc servers suck). Everything else I game on my 2060s.

I could get a cheap xb1. Has anyone tried cross platform on fortnite?

Cause I can pick the up around $200ish

    • If you have a 2060s why can't you play fortnite on your PC? It's cross-platform.

    • Whats the support like for a 2nd hand one? I want a pro but worried about the console dying

  • I wouldn't expect great sales currently. Maybe try an Xbox One X for a change/4K Bluray player. $449 with that Jedi game at JB HiFi.

But, if you're going a PS4, with no sales the PS4 Pro at Costco looks relatively appealing at $497. When it's only $100 difference, I think the extra juice for smoother gameplay is worth it.

  • There was a good deal a few days ago at EB Games when combined with gift cards - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/529751

  • How often does the PS4 go on sale in Oz? Trying to buy one within the next 30 days, hopefully below 300 bucks.

  • Just to give you an idea on pricing. I sold my PS4 Pro yesterday for $400. It looked like the going rate was $430 with one controller second hand.

    • Goes to show the effects of COVID. I bought a used Pro with 5 games for $400 on Dec 31st.

    • that's very good price you sold there…

of memory seen the ads ps4 pro for $149 when trade in ps4 slim with 2 games a while ago… considering can get ps4 slim at cheap price

very tempting but not planning to waste more money on a console.

  • Snapped up the last one at Cash Converters in Shepparton, just an older 500gb but for $250 & a 90 day warranty I was happy.

Killed a few hours on the drive though.

  • hi guys… any recommendation what is the best and probably cost-saving external drive (brand and model) to be used for ps4?

external drive purpose is to use for run games…

also, I have plenty of 2nd HDD naked however I bought USB 3.0 casing and insert the HDD and it seems the ps4 failed to recognise it as USB 3.0 support drive.

any recommendation of how to overcome that issue???

    thanks
