  • Good price for this unit.

  • Why they dont put their 45w x4 RMS class D amps in these high end devices ill never know.

Im stuck with their entry level gear if k want a real 40 RMS.

    • I had no idea they even existed! I would have killed for one of these 20 years ago haha.

      • Yeah, the Sony Mex-100BT was available locally, and now theres another cheaper model with an 80 in its name, available locally (check sonys website).

45w true RMS, reaaaaaly makes the car sing without having to run extra wiring.

I have it on my "racecar" which also does street duties.

I want door, but I don't want weight.

It even outputs 70w+ at 2ohm, if you want to run a cheap subwoofer off the rear outputs (which is a built in feature).

        • Yeah now i know these exist, i'm thinking of using one in my Toy. Blaupunkt SQR 45 would be a better period correct fit though

    • would probably blow out stock speakers

Few people upgrade head unit before speakers.

But even then, overdriving speakers isnt a kaboom scenario, you have to hear then crunch and voice coil rub, then be silly enough to keep playing at that volume.

Regardless, that was never the point.

Few people upgrade head unit before speakers.

I think you'd be surprised. People just want to add screens and CarPlay without considering other elements.

@Hybroid: Sold audio for a lot of years, not much will surprise me. Seen it all.

And as i said, even some 10w factory speakers will handle it fine so long as the user jsnt an idiot. Theg often are….. but still.

      • I've given stock speakers over 5 times the standard power via an external amp, no issues at all. They sounded significantly better in fact

        • Yep. Speakers dont have a real wattage rating, its just a "this is what we want to warranty" rating.

100% about what theyre playing, and therefore voicecoil heat.

I have one of these and wouldn't recommend it for android auto. I have tried troubleshooting with heaps of different usb cords and firmware updates with no fix. I'm not the only one…

    • I had similar issue to start with but works fine now on s8+ with a good usb cable no more disconnects

But I agree never had issue with car play it's only android auto.

      • So With android auto the phone connects via a USB cable.
I always thought Android Auto and Apple Play would be all Bluetooth.

    • I have note 9 and using Cygnett usb C cable plus original cable from Samsung and found no issue at all. Used to have EBay cheap USB cable and lots of drop-out. The guy who did installation the unit told me to get Belkin/Cygnett so i went to buy it from Myer and it worked

    • I'm using wireless AA on a Kenwood unit that works flawlessly but it does tend to drain the phone battery

      • Really?
My RCD 330 NoName charges the mobile battery as well as Android Auto connection, otherwise what isthe use??

I'm lucky, I bought the Pioneer 5350BT unit and works flawlessly for Android Auto with multiple cables. Got it recently for a similar price.

  • Great unit, bought this in 2019 for a similar price.

  • Any idea how much Autobahn would charge for fitting?

    • Ditto

    • Probably $150 to $200, I'd guess.

Often this isn't too hard and can usually find a YouTube video on how to do it yourself.

      Especially now it's super easy.

      The cables are:

Factory cables to universal ISO converter -> universal ISO to your head unit brand.
Autobahn sell all the adapters too and use the aeropro website to find everything you need:
      https://aerpro.com

You might also need a fascia kit to modify the area surrounding the head unit, as factory radios are often slightly larger than the double din size. Also available from AerPro, or have a look on eBay.

And if you want your steering wheel buttons to work you might need another adapter, like the swc-1, also available from Aerpro.
