        • I didn't pay for express and on the tracking page it just says its coming via parcel post so i don't thing they did free express post.

      • Ebay banner states 30 Days of Deals ALL with free express shipping and if you click it, it shows postcodes that are eligible.

    • +1

It should be express post! Going to chase this up with eBay!

  • +1

Yep, should be express. I'm thinking I'll return it when it shows up next week (or the week after knowing Aus post) and just pick up a local copy tomorrow. Not worth the $20 waiting

    • +2

I did that with death stranding, it didn't arrive from amazon in time so i bought it from JB. then when it arrived i returned the sealed amazon copy to jb.

  • I am still waiting for my copy to ship (the status on my eBay order still hasn't been updated yet) - not sure if it's because I am in Adelaide?

    • Status on eBay hasn't changed for me either, but I got packing email directly from Gamesmen.

      • Does yours also say Parcel Post?

        • No, just Australian Post, there is nothing about Parcel Post?

          • @raspudala: Actually, when I clink on the link it states 'Parcel Post'.

      • Oh my bad, I just saw the packing email (it had gone into my spam folder!) - although still no update to the status of my order though.

  • +1

I'm having a fight with eBay. Its funny because their banner states all products within the 30 days of deals have free express post but they keep stating 'it will depend on the listing if it's offering express postage. You can choose express postage if seller is offering it but in this order seller did not put express postage.' I said that means your banner is misleading. Taking it up with their supervisor.

    • Express was technically offered, but it was not free.

    • The only condition on that banner is that it's for metro areas only.

The banner on https://www.ebay.com.au/ebayplus/home also mentions free express delivery on the 30 days of deals items.

As per the T&C's of ebay plus membership at https://tc.ebay.com.au/ebay-plus-terms-and-conditions:

4.1.2. If your delivery address is located in an eligible metro postcode, you are also entitled to a free upgrade to an express postage service offered by eBay Plus sellers on eBay Plus items, excluding the following sellers: big-w-online, myer_store_official, danmurphys_au, babybunting and binglee

      Definitely misleading

      • +1

Of course eBay apologises only when the seller fixes their mistakes. I don't think they informed the Gamesmen or there's been a genuine misunderstanding. At least now we can rest assured that they're fixing everyone's parcels - I just got a call back from the Gamesmen :)

  • +15

Just an update - I called the gamesmen and they said they're relabelling EVERYONES parcels. It will ALL get shipped out as express as it was a mixup in their end. HOPE YOU ALL GET IT TOMORROW!! :D

    • +1

      Legend.

    • +1

Thanks for the investigative work. A+

    • +1

      Thanks mate!!

    • Yup just got my shipping notification for Express (although I paid for Express)

      • +1

If you want - take it up with eBay chat or shoot through a request to Gamesmen - They got really good customer service :) I still haven't got my new shipping confirmation though so we'll see what happens.

Edit: Just got the new shipping confirmation email as express post!

    • +1

      You bloody ripper!

I would hate labelling 600 items. I'd hate relabelling them too. I suppose the $30k sale helps pay the wages, but still.

      • It's better than doing cancels and refunds. They were very grateful that this was brought to their attention before they got picked up by Auspost aha

    • +5

Nice work, thanks for the effort. My auspost tracking still says ‘Parcel Post’, but hopefully it gets updated to express as you said :)

    • Wow you legend! Thank you so much m(_ _)m

As for the questions regarding shipping update, Auspost generally pick it up around 5:30~ Then it'll head to Strathfield for a lil while…then zoom zoom to out of state.

    • +4

Sadly this is not the case guys, I have called The Gamesmen. They have messed with us, no express shipping as advertised

      • Correct and my long reply below explains why. After checking with eBay chat.

    • +2

Mine was already dispatched as Standard and AustPost shows "Parcel Post" and AP have even updated the status with an ETA of 22-25th June (Mel) so absolutely NOT Express.

I have just come off of 2 ebay chats and then sent a nastygram to Gamesmen for their Dodgy antics.

The reason this happened, is they Flipped the eBay Plus status to off for the items Sale (600 on Monday) and thereafter, flipped the status of Plus back on, which you can see on the listing now.

eBay claims that the "30 days of deal ALL with Free Express" are only on Plus items, which conveniently this game wasn't during the big bang sale.

      • If you go into the offers page - the banner states "30 Days of Deals All with Free Express Metro Delivery". This deal was part of this sale. I explained this to Gamesmen who've upgraded me to express yesterday and thus got the game today.

I requested that all other sales get upgraded as well. Guess they changed their mind :(

Quiet a dodgy move not gonna lie. Also eBay who are running and managing this sale don't give a damn

  • We've just packed your order, it will be collected by Australia Post shortly.

    • Will just see what happens if it doesn't come tomorrow all good

      • CLick the tracking link at the bottom and see which service you got

        • Service
          Parcel Post 🤷‍♀️

  • I am still not getting any shipping update, anyone on the same boat?

  • No updates yet
Looks like your item hasn't been scanned yet.

  • I received one "we just packed your item" email around 10:30 but with a Parcel Post tracking number. Hoping to get another e-mail listing express, will see.

  • My order from Amazon has been shipped says it's out for delivery tomorrow. It says it will arrive by 8pm.

    • Nice.

I take it you didn't end up going for the ebay plus deal? Too much hassle over $9 in my opinion, but we are on ozbargain.

      • Yes, I did try too but in the end people were too quick. I put the code in and was in the middle of signing into my PayPal and confirming payment but received a message that said it was out of stock. I was too slow.

  • Thank you for reaching out to us.

Just wished to advise that as you purchased from the sale with the option of express shipping - the allotment was charged and your order will be shipped express.

Due to an eBay error, some people may have assumed that they received free express delivery. However, all orders that did not opt into the express delivery have been issued for standard delivery.

So sorry for the confusion but we really hope you enjoy the Last of Us II!

    ????

  • +1

    Hi there,

Due the overwhelming popularity of our current eBay plus sales, all orders have been pre-packed and are currently ready for dispatch.

Given this, we aren't currently in a position to alter it or cancel the order.

Due to a system error between our system and eBays, if standard post was selected at checkout, unfortunately the order will be sent with standard post rather than express.

So sorry for the confusion but we really hope you enjoy the Last of Us II!

    • +8

outrageous, if that was true they should have sent it yesterday at the latest. I'm gonna leave negative feedback for them when i get it on Monday, absolutely unprofessional.

      • +2

Yep same. Also going to speak to Ebay. 99% doubt any of us will be getting Monday either if it's only regular post.

    • That is very odd. I did say there's a forum of people who are also confused and she said they'll be fixing all of them up and was thankful for the heads up. Maybe give them a call because the eBay banner clearly stated all 30 day deals come with free express delivery.

      • I called them Knight just now, the lady said because they had already packaged them, unless you chose express, all of us are getting standard

        • Ebay are trying say it's not part of the 30 day of deals!! Even though it clearly states on the 15th "Last of us Part 2". Not to mention the price with the deal.

          • @Callum1080: eBay have some of the worst customer service around. They blame others but themselves. They also said this to me until Gamesmen called me back and said we'll be getting express. Looks like they might've only fixed a handful before giving up.

        • That goes against what's been said to me. I did say there's a whole forum of people confused and she said they'd be fixing them up. Poor form :(

          • +1

@knight321: eBay just said it was actually our fault for not paying for the express shipping. Yes.

Quote ebay live chat (when I asked if this was ebays or the sellers fault)

Actually, it's yours because you're the one who chose the postage service in checkout

            Pathetic.

            • +1

              @Callum1080: Make's me angry.

Entice people in to a sale with all the advertising, the sale lasts 100 seconds and you are confronted with two options you weren't expecting.
One of them is the right price and one is the right service.

Then claim that one is more correct than the other.

              That's hopeless.

  • +8

The T&C of the sale clearly state:

4.1.2. If your delivery address is located in an eligible metro postcode, you are also entitled to a free upgrade to an express postage service offered by eBay Plus sellers on eBay Plus items, excluding the following sellers: big-w-online, myer_store_official, danmurphys_au, babybunting and binglee

If they've just ignored this and mailed standard postage, the least they could have done is mail it earlier than the afternoon before the release day, especially for interstate buyers.

  • Off to the local store tomorrow for me. Does EB still price match even though they have the 'standard plus' edition?

  • +1

I'm confused - one poster said they are re-labelling to Express, another that it will still be Regular post?

    • +1

My guess is they said they would earlier, then eBay told them they wouldn't be reimbursed so they now say they won't.

    • +1

I just called the store, they are not re-labelling anybody, if you chose standard then standard is what is being sent

      • +1

Yikes, so they lied to @knight321 when they claimed they were relabelling every package for Express. Poor form, considering eBay was reimbursing the cost!

  • I'm in Sydney, so there's a very slight chance I may still receive it tomorrow. Don't have my hopes up though. The struggles of pre-ordering games I guess…

    • +6

Its not a problem with you preordering a game, its a problem when eBay and the store advertise something (express delivery), fail to do so because of a "mistake", and give no compensation

      • +1

Agreed. I say we all leave them negative feedback because this is clearly not good enough.

        • +1

It's sad because its eBay's stuff up rather than Gamesmen yet the feedback will go against Gamesmen.

          • +3

@knight321: I still think that regardless of the shipping (standard/express), they should have shipped it so that the estimated delivery was tomorrow. That’s what preorders are. I think both are to blame.

          • +1

@knight321: Hard to say for sure where the stuff up was.

Did Gamesmen have all the information they needed but put the listing up incorrectly?

Or did the ebay system not correctly flag the listing in the way it should?

I don't know. I would like to know, so I can decide where my sympathies go.

            • +1

@ajm07: eBay told me it wasn't listed as an ebay plus deal. So it seems like ebays problem. That being said, shipping it out the day before release using standard post isn't acceptable either. I would be complaining and cancelling ebay plus, and leaving negative feedback

              • +1

@Callum1080: LOL I like their wording there. It sounds funny on the face of it. Saying it's not "listed as an ebay plus deal" - from a database point of view maybe.

But in every other sense of that description it was splashed all over the website as a 30 days of ebay plus deals, what other way can it be taken.

          • +2

@knight321: But Gamesmen should have double checked prior to eBay putting the deal up, so they are also at fault here.

    • +7

I'm in Sydney too, but I don't think Regular is next day. One thing for sure no more Gamesmen for me for pre-ordering in the future, Amazon always worked 100% so far. They knew it's a regular post, should of shipped yesterday like EB Games did.

      • Yeah this is really poor by Gamesmen. Will be leaving negative feedback.

        • +1

yes let's all leave negative feedback, mine says eta 22-24 june :( this is the first and last time ordering from Gamesmen

  • +5

Pretty poor form to only ship it the day before release. Since the sale was on Monday I assumed labelling it ‘preorder’ would mean they’d ship it for delivery on release date. Has anyone investigated cancellation/return?

  • Apparently the express postage upgrade was never applicable to the game, contrary to what eBay advertised:

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

As this item is a pre-order, and was unable to ship in 1-2 days as per eBay Plus guidelines, this item was not applicable for the eBay plus free express upgrade.

So sorry for the confusion but we really hope you enjoy the Last of Us II!

    Regards,

    The Gamesmen

    • +2

Still doesn't explain why they shipped a day before release, makes no sense.

      • +1

Oh i agree, complete incompetence from a store that should know exactly what they are doing.

        • Especially with covid adding 1-2 days delay from normal.

    • +1

Poor form. If this is the case then the eBay 30 day sale is misleading to state all deals will come with free express delivery.

  • +7

I note that EB shipped their copies yesterday to ensure customers received the game before the weekend.

Standard/express stuff-up aside, why would you wait until the night before release to ship standard parcels for interstate customers?? Whoever made that decision is the one to blame here, not eBay for some phantom "system error."

    • +1

Probably out of fear - the embargo’s around this game have been insane. Reviewers couldn’t even discuss half of the game, and could only should footage from the first 5 hours of the game. Then there was the false copyright strike saga. I’m guessing The Gamesmen didn’t want want to risk having Sony up their arse for breaking the release embargo.

  • +2

For those that intend on using EB games return policy. Consider just coping the increased price on the chin and return the gamesmen copy under the ebay free returns policy. That puts the onus back on ebay/gamesmen to improve their practices. Returning the late copy to EB only penalises EB.

    • Is the ebay returns thing free?

Just print out a free return label and drop it in a post box?

If so that will get me the game quicker, might take you up on that offer even at the extra expense.

      • I'm not sure, I've never returned anything through that 'feature'.

    • How exactly does it penalise EB? The game is expected to have a shaky release because of the leaks and the opinions out there. It would be well within expectations I reckon…

  • +8

I agree with the everything that has already been said - it's just absolutely poor form by both Gamesmen and eBay. They should have worked things out prior to putting this deal up and not have mislead customers as to the availability of the Express delivery.

Like many others I got a shipping email this morning stating that it's going to be posted under Standard delivery but no still no indication as of now as to whether the item will be shipped before tomorrow. Both eBay and Gamesmen should have done right by their customers and honoured the deal as advertised by either shipping the game out early for Standard delivery or have everyone automatically be put under Express delivery, but instead they now have this absolute mess that we all have to put up with!

    • +1

I suspect they'll be heavily downvoted on eBay feedback for this stuff-up. When EB Games of all companies can get these shipped two days pre-release to their customers, there's really no excuse to wait this long.

      • I've just replied to Gamesmen pointing this out, hopefully all the negative feedback they will receive over this will make them wisen-up.

  • +1

eBay offered me a $7 voucher covering the cost of express shipping for compensation. Hahaha, what a joke.

    • How did you receive the voucher?

      • +2

Live chat, took me about 20 mins of explaining it before they even understood the problem, and then proceeded to blame me for it.

    • +3

So we pay for privilege to fight each other to even be able to buy this game and still got screwed, no more eBay Plus for me. Amazon always delivered my pre-orders on time.

      • Yeah, I gave up on this arriving tomorrow and just went and pre-ordered a copy from JB-Hifi and just do a Click and Collect from their store tomorrow. Going to just return the copy from Gamesmen (once it arrives) via eBay free returns, because they are hopeless!

        • +2

Me too, stuff the Gamesmen, I'll return their copy and they can deal with the negative feedback, lost profit and returned stock.

          • +1

@acidantics: Tempted to do this as well. Had never heard of this store but all the feedback seemed positive. Would never order from them again after this stuff up.

            • @Mega Vanillish: Yep, just ordered my click and collect from JB for tomorrow.

              • @Callum1080: Should I try click and collect or just turn up at the store? Im available when they open but I dont want to have to wait around for them to get my order ready if I can just grab it off the shelf.

                • @PlagueistheCheap: It's likely quicker to just grab it off the shelf, but then you lose out on the pre-order bonuses (if that's important to you). With that said, given how much hype there is they will likely sell out very quickly.

                • @PlagueistheCheap: I just did click & collect to save a copy. I won't be picking it up until afternoon so will give them plenty of time to get it ready. Seems like they have lots of stock so should be fine to just walk in, though that being said I can't see them turning you away either if your click and collect isn't ready yet, all they need to do is grab a game (which they would definitely have behind the counter). Someone else might know a bit more than me though.

                  • +1

@Callum1080: Also, I think they probably would already have your pre-order prepped and waiting for you (they will send an email/sms once it's ready for you to collect) so I assume you don't have to wait too long anyway.

  • Got this message from them

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

As this item is a pre-order, and was unable to ship in 1-2 days as per eBay Plus guidelines, this item was not applicable for the eBay plus free express upgrade.

So sorry for the confusion but we really hope you enjoy the Last of Us II!

    • The T&C make no reference to preorders.

      https://tc.ebay.com.au/plusmonthdealsjune20

Clearly states the sale items are ebay plus items, and that there is a free express upgrade for ebay plus items.

Iron clad. Trust me, I'm not a lawyer.

    • +2

but why did they choose to post 1 day before not 2???since they know they are being posted regular?
