Which Impact Driver Would Be Better?

I want to get a better 18V impact driver. Which one do you think would be better - an older second hand brushed Bosch one like GDR 18V-Li (160Nm torque) for around $50 or a new Aldi/Ozito brushless one (200Nm torque) at around $80 iirc. Is the extra 40Nm of torque going to make a much of a difference. This is for home use and assumes I already have batteries.

  • just try the aldi one and return it back if you don't like it, 60 days free return

    • Are aldi still taking change of mind returns in covid period?

  • "Don't buy the tool, buy the system."

The batteries are the priciest component. Pick the platform you think you'll build on and go from there.

    • i've already got an old bosch blue 18v hammer drill/driver with battery and charger. i've also got heaps of aldi batteries all of which i picked $15-$20.

the current impact driver i have is part of an old 18v ozito drill driver & impact driver combo. it is rated at 120Nm. it works but it leaves a lot to be desired. certainly the bosch drill is much better than the old ozito drill

      • Then build on the Bosch system although tbh, manufacturers price the drill+driver combos very well to get you into the system so buying a driver skin in its own is rarely good value by comparison.

  • Ozito are fairly good and are regularly discounted at Bunnings…

    • Ozito are rubbish. But the warrenty is great. When they break they give you a new one.

      • I've built pergolas with them, wouldn't buy myself but definitely did the job…

        • I’ve used some ozito stuff, it worked, but not very well. Back to back ryobi was significantly better. Then makita is much better again compared with ryobi.
