TCL or Hisense?

I am looking to buy a new tv and I am considering whether to get a Hisense or tcl but I am not sure which is better. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

As a brand TCL. Make a poll please.
If you want specifics, gotta give us budget and the models to compare.
    Otherwise it’s Samsung or LG.

I have two Sony tvs which I love. The android tv operating system has meant that 4 years down the track even though apps like kayo and prime video didn’t exist when I bought the TV they can now be downloaded from the play store. Conversely my parents have an LG tv that’s only a year or so older than mine but LG stopped supporting the OS and providing new apps as soon as they released the next model a year later. If you’re budget is tight I would go TCL for the Android tv OS.

    • agreed.. my panasonic tv with firefox os is a pita, they ditched the os in no time and no new apps… might have to go android tv.. atleast samsung and lg support their tv's for a half reasonable period of time from my experience…

I think Panasonic removed a lot of apps. I bought the last plasma tv they made in 2013 and it's still going strong but the app menu lost a few programs over the years. Still got the Netflix app which is the only one I use anyway.

        • yes i got the same on clearance, 65" great TV but never see any updates since i got it and it struggles with alot of the newer video codecs being used these days, getting an Xiaomi Mi box to use with it. I also have my original 42" Panasonic plasma i got in 2007, still going great no issues at all besides had to replace remote. My 50" samsung I got in between lasted about 3 years and I hated the OS and remote.

    • Thank you! I’ve heard great things about Android tv os, I currently have a Hisense and the range of apps available is terrible, only Netflix and YouTube, but at the moment I have very good expectations for tcl

Hisense or TCL? Get Sony or Samsung better.

    • Thank you for your honesty, I am not looking to spend too much on a tv but obviously the more you pay for it, the better quality it is so I will consider Samsung also!

  • Ffalcon with smart functions off and choice of VTV, Chromecast etc.
    It's a rebadged 50" TCL for ~$500 all up.

    • Thanks for the suggestion.

  • From COSTCO WITH >,>>> TCL's 43" 43P8M 4K QUHD TV has an ultra-high definition and artificial intelligence to work with Google Assistant and Alexa. It has access to the Google Play Store, Chromecast built-in, voice-search, and access to Netflix, Lightbox and YouTube for endless entertainment. It is Freeview certified, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatible, and features Dolby audio for impeccable.
Only $444.99 ( with membership ).not a bad deal.

  • More cheaper than JB HiFi.

    • Does not seem too bad of a deal, I will look into it :)

  • We moved to Tasmania a couple of years ago and didn't bother bringing our old plasma TVs as they needed replacing anyway. We preferred a TV which had Netflix, Stan and Freeview Plus apps (not that the last one is much use in Tassie LOL), and the only ones in our price range that really fitted the bill were TCL and Hisense. I remember the salesman at The Good Guys commenting that they called TCL TVs "Doomerangs" as so many of them came back with problems. We ended up going with Hisense, we now have two of them and have been really happy, especially since the Amazon Prime app has been added.

The TV repair guy we used in WA a few times over the years advised us to avoid Samsung as they were the brand he saw most often for issues.

    • I have a hisense tv myself and it isn't too bad but I think now its time for an upgrade. Thank you very much for your suggestion, I can somewhat see how Samsung is degrading every year.

    • lol, you basically got what the salesman wanted to get rid of.
The advice of the 'TV repair guy' is also rubbish, Samsung sells most TVs so of course he saw that brand more for issues.

Tcl any day of the week. I have a c2us from 2 years ago and the android tv works fluidly and the picture quality is incredible for an $800 tv. Have a look at one, I think the updated one is a c6us. The only downside is tcl's standard definition performance is a little average. Anything in hd or better is phenomenal.

    • Sounds great to me! Thank you for the recommendation :)

Tbh I would just get a bog standard tv and get a seperate device for smart functions eg Vodafone TV, Roku/Telstra TV etc. I have a Sony Blu Ray player and it’s got YouTube and Netflix, that’s about it. Vodafone device goes cheap and is android based. I use my chromecast the most regardless and they can be cheap as. Apps and catch up services from phone, plex and VLC from pc
