Sodastream Modification to Use a Larger Cylinder

Hi,

I have learnt that there is a hose adapter that will allow me to use bulk cylinders instead of sodastream official ones.

I am buying one old soldastream from gumtree and intend to buy an adapter.

Anyone has used these? Any recommendations?

I am thinking of this one

        Use water? :)

        • And flavourings?

          • @bargainhuntingcouple: Sugar free flavourings.

@bargainhuntingcouple: I make up plain soda water with the sodastream, then chuck in a Twinings cold water infusions bag into the bottle. There’s no sweetness as such like a diet lemonade but more like a fruity mineral water. I think they might be half price at Woolies at the moment, there are several flavours to choose from.

I've been using one for a number of years now with a 2.6Kg bottle. 6Kg is cheaper if you have the space. Works well.

For sugar-free flavoured drinks you can use the SodaStream brand flavours or try alternative like sugar free cordial. Bickfords Lemon Lime and Bitters is nice.

    • Cheers!!

    • By space means 'enough space in case of a leak'. A 6kg gas leak in an enclosed space can be dangerous.

      • It will be in the open plan kitchen top, so is it safe enough? 6kg is like 2x of 2.6 so both can be unsafe.

      • Yes that’s a fair comment, you don’t want a full tank of CO2 emptying into your house while you are sleeping. One reason I also shut off the valve each time at the bottle.
