Assistance with IooT and Digital Assistance

Hi everybody,

Thanks for taking the time to read my post, might be a bit boring etc.

I need some help, It might be a bit of a noob help, but im going to ask.

I am setting up my home network with IooT and using google assistant to do all this. I have two questions, Everything works except two things.

My 2019 Samsung Smart TV (Which Samsung says should work) is linked to my google home app, and is there. When the TV is on, I can use voice commands to do anything, But when the TV is off, I cant use google home to turn it on, (Ok google turn tv on) it states the TV is not available., I have looked though all settings etc, I can not work it out.

Number 2, I have a vero 4K media player, this might not be related to IooT, but im thinking it could be a slight chance. I used to be able to use (Arc) my samsung TV remote to control the media player, but cannot anymore, I have changed HDMI cables etc. My TV for some silly reason thinks it is a Apple TV, can anyone lead me in the direction what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance if so….

    Thanks for the compliment :)

  • Regarding the first issue, does the TV have a “quick power on” option, that might put it in a lighter standby state which allows Google to wake it up. Alternatively, does it have a wake over network/LAN option? Can you power it on using an app on your phone?

  • With the first issue, have the TV connected via WiFi not Ethernet. When it is on Ethernet Samsung TVs wont keep a network connection while powered off but with wifi it does.

  • First one CEC and your power settings- better use Chromecast

Second one naming can be changed on TV, lots of people have had issues with arc, try changing CEC settings and unplugging
