    • X34p is 1.2k now.

    • X34P is obviously the better monitor but it depends on your budget.

      • Actually not necessarily, the X34p is a 2 year old panel , you have to over lock it to get 120hz.

        • It's a two year old panel, that's still better than this in almost every way.
"Overclicking" it is literally two steps on the OSD, less steps than to change this monitor from Chinese to English.

Definitely not saying this is a bad monitor by any means, it's great.

    • If price isn't an issue, definitely the X34P. Unfortunately this VA panels response time is higher than you'd want for 144hz, and will result in noticeable dark smearing. The X34P has an IPS panel with much less motion blur and no smearing. For the price though (nearly half), I'd still say this is a good option, and you'll get better contrast then the x34p

  • Wonder if they will match this dead pixel policy.

    • Link not working anymore

  • This is the same panel as in the AOC CU34G2X, Lenovo G34w, Kogan 3440x1440 144Hz etc right?

    • +1

Yup there is only one 1 Ultrawide 34 inch VA panel with native 144hz, made by Samsung that goes into all these monitors.

      • That's what I thought, but the listing claiming that this is able to show 122% RGB was throwing me off, as I hadn't seen the AOC or Lenovo claim that, and the specs on Panelook say it can only do 80% sRGB

  • Anyone have a link to the manual please, looking for the physical size of this monitor/stand?

  • Can someone help me out - I would like a new monitor but don't game at all. Basic use for web browsing, streaming youtube and kayo. Would you buy this or https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-34-wqhd-219-ultrawide-75h…
I have numerous xiaomi products and like them, but I have just a NUC so no high end setup

    TIA

    • No contest. The kogan is a 75hz panel thats preowned. This one is a brand new unit with the latest VA panel thats $100 more.

    • well if you don't game, you won't need a 144Hz or even 75Hz one… just standard 60Hz will do.
for resolution, if 27" or bigger get 1440p, if smaller than 27" get 1080p.
if you're a color snob, >99% RGB for crisp colors.
read a few reviews on your choice of monitor prior to purchase, don't worry about metrics like response time and pitch black unless your room is super dark, color accuracy probably makes the impact for an average user. $200-300 should do.

      • I disagree. 60Hz messes with my eyes over time, especially on a white background. Big difference between 60Hz and 75Hz to me..

        • hmmm wozz it could be backlight issue that you're having, the screen brightness may be set too high thus the strain. if you don't game, there should be no difference in user experience between 60 and 75Hz for a similar panel.

          • @selphie: Can guarantee there is a difference, maybe not perceptible to some people, but regardless of brightness down or up, i can notice 60hz in a white background any day! Maybe something to do with how the monitor refreshes I'm not sure, have used quite a number of monitors for home and work and i always know the difference

            • @wozz: When you look at a computer monitor, you’re not seeing a single, static image. What you’re actually seeing is the same image, refreshed many times per second—creating the illusion that your screen is smooth. If you’re using an older monitor, you may notice it flickering slightly. What you’re seeing is a refresh rate so low that your human eyes are taking notice. This is very typical at the frequencies of 59 Hz and 60 Hz, the latter being the most commonly used refresh rate in laptops and LCD (flat-screen) monitors

              • @wozz: Quote from a webpage not mine

              • @wozz:

                • When you look at a computer monitor, you’re not seeing a single, static image.
my gut feeling is this would be an old CRT monitor, or a really bad panel if you notice flicker from a static image whether its 60 or even 30Hz refresh.
                • @selphie: "the latter being the most commonly used refresh rate in laptops and LCD (flat-screen) monitors"

No. Definitely lcd and i can sort of make out the flicker, at least i can easily discern the difference.

                  • @wozz: Talking to you reminds me of the arguments i used to have with my mates many years ago when id tell them i could tell the difference between 20 and 30fps. Same sort of thing, some people for whatever reason just can't see it

                    • +1

@wozz: lol ok we'll let it die then

    • I suggest you get that Kogan 75Hz flat ultrawide, but get it new when it's on sale ($399-$449).

I bought the Kogan 144Hz curved ultrawide, just in case I ever do decide to play games. But to be honest, I would have been perfectly happy with the 75Hz flat version. I personally don't really feel the need for the curve at 34" ultrawide, and 75Hz would have been absolutely fine for general productivity use.

Between the 144Hz models, I would take the Xiaomi over the Kogan (wish I had got the Xiaomi!), because it has a much better stand (and because I generally prefer Xiaomi as a brand).

But I reckon I would have been very happy with the Kogan 75Hz flat 34" at $449!

  • should I get this monitor or a 4k UHD (with HDR) 16:9 monitor?

whilst this monitor is pretty good for the price and features…
should I wait to see if Xiaomi releases some more monitors later on with HDR and even IPS etc (since Xiaomi is now in the monitor business as well)
so we can only assume that there would be even more better monitors getting released later on?

    • Depends on your use case. It'll be hard to drive 4k with anything less than a top of the line graphics card for gaming. TBH HDR is useless, most monitors that have them have no impact even with it on. No way IPS ultrawides will get this cheap, the cheapest is a last gen X34P that is 1.2k now.

      • yeah i was also asking about a IPS 4k UHD 16:9 as well and not just IPS ultrawide..

From what I seen the 21:9 is great for some games like FPS, racing etc..
but for some other games like RTS etc it can be a hit or miss..

Some games like starcraft 2 can only be played with black bars on the side..

Also watching youtube will have black bars on the side as well..

Now with the black bars, would youtube video in full screen be as big as 24 inch in full screen or same as 27 inch?
Also how distracting is the black bars or people just get used to it?

        • I've had an ultrawide for about 2 years, have not had a single game with black bars :)
For a couple of games I had to download Flawless Widescreen (like Driver, can't remember what else) but apart from that its been perfect.

Some games Menu screens or loading screens look a bit odd but in game no issues.
Came from 3 x 24" monitors, but much prefer 0 bezels and a little less screen estate.

  • Bought one, thanks OP!

  • What's the next best option apart from Kogan?

  • tightarse wana PM me a discount code? Monitor just died today :( haha

  • Ah crap I missed out on this 😩

    • It’s back!

      • I've tried both codes in OP, both in field before checkout and in checkout — neither seem to work :(

      • Yeah not working 😩
        Sad I missed it
Could have done with it tbh

        • So bummed, don't know where I got 17/6 from, but I thought I had time left!

  • Anyone know of a decent monitor for portrait mode?
This would be for web browsing and doxuments mainly or swap my current 27" to portrait and get a decent main screen.
Widescreen vs ultra widescreen what would be better?

    • Widescreen vs ultrawide is entirely preference and usage dependen.

But yes, I would get a 34" ultrawide and use your 27" in portrait - I did the same thing, but with a 24" (1920x1200) as my portrait monitor (will eventually upgrade the 24" to a 27" 1440 or 32" 4K).

  • Really want one. If anybody spots one at this price please post it.

    Was too slow.

Was there a condition on the credit?

          • @unco: what do you mean by"condition on the credit"?

            • @AHUANG: I mean, does this mean we're not eligible for the following dot point because you're defining it as not the 'same stock'?

Mobileciti will provide a full refund or credit before dispatch if a lower price for the same stock is found elsewhere.

              • @unco: They've replied to my email saying they won't honour it.

              • @unco: Hi unco

Correct, confirmed its not Au Official stock so definately not the same stock.

                • @AHUANG: What differentiates "Official AU stock" & "Non AU Official stock"? I doubt there is any difference between the products themselves.

                  • -2

                    @Jo5228: Hi Jo5228

The products may look identical as long as its similar model, however AU official stock means that the product has met the required compliance with Australian safety standards, which includes the power plug, power transformer, and rework may be required to ensure that the product are meeting local requirements before delivery to the customer. It is also imported by an authorised source/distributor and provided with a reasonable warranty, and customs duty/GST has been paid in full etc….

                    Thanks!

                    • @AHUANG: I think it's not unreasonable? Maybe I'm alone, but I'm keeping my designated au stock.. much easier to get stuff like warranty/acl enforced generally for genuine au stock?

                      • @wozz: Thanks, if you need any other help feel free to reach our customer service or PM store rep.
