Hi all. From the outset, please note this may not work for everyone but has certainly worked for me and a few others I've asked to test. Let us know in the comments how it went for you. Read this article on Whirlpool so gave it a go. Previously getting 46/17Mbps on Speedtest but now getting 54/18Mbps after a modem power cycle. Not sure what the '15% overprovisioning' really means, so I'll let the experts comment below. This article has a lot more information. Hope it works for you. Stay safe, and enjoy :)

    Can confirm this works. My Telstra connection's mid-tier plan on FTTP has always been up to 44/15 and now I'm getting around 54/18.

      I rebooted a week or so ago and noticed I was getting 256/23 on SuperLoop and thought it was just the speedtest process giving preference to Superloop(I’ve heard conspiracy theories that some do this to boost advertising revenue???). Just ran speedtest on the Telstra server and still getting 256/23. I’m on the Aspley poi which had an upgrade on Tuesday morning - which seemed initially to slow the network down but now is obviously working perfectly.

      It's for all RSPs on the NBN network but they have to make some sort of change to get it working on the RSP side and NBN needs to make some sort of change on the POI side.

          good customer service maybe? I'm paying $80 for HFC 100/40 with Telstra currently. They give out free mobile modem if the internet is down.

              @chromium: your mileage may vary. For me, the customer service can be good if you pick up the phone and complain all the way to get an Australian rep. I got that price because my plan was $80 cable with 100 down speed and they switched me to NBN, I asked to keep the same speed and plan (price).

              @AusNugz: The deal is a speed boost 5% to quoted rate or 15% from typical evening speed. To get the deal, you need to click the power button on your modem. I agree with TA, I think it is a deal.

    I am on 100/40 plan. I do schedule reboot every night.
    At this peak time I am seeing just over my allocation which is great as I normally get around 80-85/25-30.
    May have worked for me too!

        I have custom Merlin firmware on my router and physical firewalls. I have couple of Cron jobs for the backup and update, which run evwrynight.. It cleans up after that.

        In my previous role as an ISP we used to puah firmware update via TR69 during 2 am and 4 am, so a habit thing as well.

    With Belong FTTC on 30mb plan, after rebooting, still gets 28/15 with 50ms ping. Nothing has changed, unfortunately.

      You are likely hitting a Belong shaping mechanism and not an NBN one as their is no 30/20 NBN plan.
      i.e You are on a 50/20 plan shaped by Belong and not hitting the NBN limit.

          I'm on the Belong starter plan and my speeds are shaped permanently to 30 Mbps, not just during evenings. It was great for the first couple of months before they started shaping, but not so good now and I'll be leaving as soon as my 12 month contract expires.

          Yeah you should either downgrade to 50/20 or get someone in to check your internal wiring and only have 1 socket connected. You should easily be achieving 90/30+
