@scuderiarmani: In all honesty, I'm shit scared of burn-in. Even Rtings.com reckons it's a real issue, or used to be. This is against my first-hand experience, however, it's difficult to not believe the hype.

So I auto-hide my task bar, have only the recycle bin (which I move periodically), icon on a single colour desktop, have a 5min timeout on a screen saver and I turn the display off for a min or two, several times a day. It boots up in 2 or 3 seconds, so no issue.

I'd love some data on how long a pixel takes to lose its ability to change colour. Based on my LG phone (which sucks - N.B. not an LG fanboy here), using the same OLED type, it's never.

Too good, so far, so good.

@Unsafe: My mother in law was using an old Note 3 or 4 for a while, some awful screen burn in from the Google Launcher.

Didn't expect it so bad on a phone though.

In the end, if you are conscious of it, you'll be better than those who aren't.

I personally wouldn't use one for a Monitor, I have used my Sony X95Gs briefly and enjoyed them.

Only via game streaming with an OLED in my Bedroom (possibly B6).

@scuderiarmani: My Hisense finally got returned (don't buy a Hisense) after 5 months of arguing with them & JB, right when all the monitors & desks were sold out due to working from home/covid.
In WA it was especially ridic, no monitors left except 100% gaming things. This came up on sale at Costco, the specs read more like that of a monitor with TV features added on, so I jumped on it.
I would defs recommend it as a monitor…in two months time when HDMI 2.1 graphics cards are released. Right now, line ball.

Older OLED's defs have a bad name. But you're right, keeping an eye on what I've been educated about in terms of maintenance, is mandatory at this point. Easy enough too.

My LG phone display is all good btw, it's the rest of the phone that is poor, is what I meant, apologies. So they're getting there, LG especially.

    • I agree 100%. We love our new LG CX 65" but we find it slightly too small. This is because we upgraded from a 60" Samsung 2014 model. The difference in picture quality is there, no questions asked. However we are constantly wondering what it would be like to have the 77" model instead (which is way too expensive for now). Obviously the 5" upgrade wasn't satisfactory enough. This is why going full array LCD if the answer for those who want the TV to be relatively affordable at 75" or more. I am seriously considering the Q95T 75" or this Sony in 75". Size vs quality.

I faced the same issue when going to my current 65" B9 OLED as I had a Hisense 75n7 that I was "downgrading" from.

I haven't missed the extra screen.

10" was a big loss @ 2.5m from my eyes to the screen, or so I thought. Turns out that at distance, 65" is just small enough that I don't have to turn my head if there's action on one side of the screen, then the next. The clarity of content means any bigger & I'd have to give up watching movies all together with all the imperfections I'm now able to spot, seriously. Movies, games, whatever, there's always a focal point so the rest of the display is there for your peripheral vision, to help keep you immersed in the media, after a certain size of course.

Could always move an OLED closer, or spend the power bill savings owning this over a fully array, on a variable mount that moves the screen (which is much lighter) closer, giving you even more than 10", relatively speaking of course.

Is there a proportionally similar difference in price between LCD & OLED @ 75/77" as there is @ 65"? No, the 77" as you say is off its head…although I did gag when I saw the price of the 75" Sony LCD when shopping for my OLED…not much in it. I think there's a new 85" G series LG OLED, not that's got a price & a half on it.

My point being this deal is for a 65" LCD at the same price as 65" OLED.

Yet again, very valid points. I appreciate your comment. It helped to look at this from a different perspective.

  • Any suggestions for a 55" due to limitations of the TV cabinet?

  • People still watch TV? ;)

    • I would say most people use streaming services like Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime, etc :)

For anyone interested with an Ebay Plus account, Appliances Online Ebay store have the BX OLED 65" available for a shade over 3k - I'm no expert but from my recent research that would probably be a better buy. Use the POFF10 code.

  • Sony store is the same price
    https://store.sony.com.au/television-4K-X9500/KD65X9500H.htm…
    Free shipping.

  • Available for the same price at HN with a $150 gift card for those who prefer that over the $60 store credit and Disney Plus that TGG offer.

Looks like people don't want a Harvey Norman gift card? Lol

  • Don't really know why anyone (especially on OzBargain) would buy a TV on first release. Wait till November around Black Friday and you'll get it for 1800-1900 from Costco.

  • this 65 9500h 3k or 75 9500g 3.3k…ummmm tempting
