PPSR Website: What's The Difference between "Quick" and Regular Vehicle Search???

Hi all,

I'm on the lookout for a new used car. I'm going to test drive one tomorrow and I want to check it's not got anything bad going on in it's past.

I go to the PPSR website, and there are two choices for looking up a vehicle, but from the description they have on the two pages, I don't see why you'd choose one over the other? They're both $2.00 per search.

Are there any OzB'ers out there who knows the answer?

Cheers everyone.

  • The quick one seems to just cover vehicles. The regular one seems to cover cars + everything else. They should both give you the same information, WOVR, encumbered or stolen.

    • Where do you see that? I see this on both pages:

      What does this search cover?

      A motor vehicle can include:

      Cars
      Buses
      Trucks
      ATVs

      Tractors
      Caravans
      Motorbikes
      Horse floats

      Trailers
      Boat trailers
      Forklifts
      Tractors

      Utility vehicles (Utes)
      Camper vans and camper trailers
or any vehicle capable of travelling at more than 10 km/h
that has a total motor power of more than 200 W.

      • When I went into the Quick link, it gives me no option other than VIN or Serial. In the regular list, there were a lot more options for entering details and covers things like IP and Aircraft (along with vehicles).

  • The quick search takes longer.

  • I've always used quick search and it's always given me the information that Ive needed
