Email I just received from Sam at from Victory Printing:
[email protected]

Hey Guys,

We've gotten in a new HP 8 color machine - which means amazing colors that will not fade for a lifetime! We want to offer our customers a chance to try it out, so are doing a limited quantity of 50x70cm stretched canvas prints delivered @ $45, including gst. This includes the frame and fittings to hang onto the wall. We normally sell these for $160.

If you'd like to order, please write back your:

Shipping address:
Order Quantity

And send your images in a separate email. We will then issue a tax invoice. Pass this around your work place or friends if you think they may be interested! Wedding photos, family portraits, retro art… it will all look amazing. We can always do custom designs as required too.

There will be a slow turnaround on this one [shipping all orders at once to maximise savings], so if you need something a little faster just shoot us a message with your deadline and we will work it out.

Regards,
Sam

just to let you know my experience with using this company earlier this year…

    • delivered wrong size frames, not what we ordered. They were much bigger, and not suitable for where we wanted to put them - all were delivered as 50x70 when some of our order was 50x34
    • colours were very unnatural, way too saturated, really bad skin tone colours
    • delivery was very slow, took quite a bit longer than what they quoted

i would not use them again…

(oh, and they quoted 3% extra surcharge for paypal…)

thanks for feedback jv… was tempted to go with these guys for price advertised, but doesnt seem like its worth it now.

      • i got this email too, it does say they have got a new HP machine… (now you know why)…

maybe they are better now ??? who knows ?

Was this the $12 promotion ages ago?
If so, you get what you pay for.

Also, why bother bolding and using commas if you can't even be bothered to capitalise?

    • I've used them before, and was quite happy with the results. Maybe if I'd particularly had skin tones I might have noticed some issue - but frankly if you expect a print, any print, to look like it does onscreen, you haven't done much printing.

      • i was comparing the colours to the paper prints i had done, not what i see on the monitor… not that there was much difference between the monitor and the paper prints… but the canvas ones where just plain awful…

    • do you have good monitor?

      • the photos were fine, both on the monitor, but more importantly, i have paper prints and the colours are excellent on those. They weren't just point and shoot, they were portraits taken with a Canon DSLR and 50mm 1.4 lens… The canvas prints however were awfully oversaturated, skintones were almost a crimson colour.

    • I had the same issue. The canvas print was quite poor when we got it and now the color has faded even more, even though it was cheap ($18? for canvas only, not framed or stretched) it was not worth it at all. I did a reprint with another company (Fabness print) that offered 100x50cm stretched print delivered on one of the group deal website. The difference was night at day. I have seen them offering similar deals for 50x70 for around $50.

BigW is offering a discout atm 50% off on rectangular and panoramic canvases - they seem to do an adequate job

I have four of them on my wall - not as cheap as this deal I think but not too bad

    • how close were the colours compared to normal prints ?

      • jv - sorry missed this post

since I have not seen the photos as paper prints I am afraid I am not going to be much help on comparisons.

But BigW use the fujifilm lab if that helps (or at least thats where ours came from).

I did notice the night shot of Osaka looked a little "painted", but I suspect that was the shot quality - and I actually liked that look in the end

They day scene shots looked OK, but none of ours involved people, just cows ;P

  • As mentioned, we have a new printer. HP Z5200. Earlier in the year we were offering $12 Canvas Prints, the prints made on the older machines do not even compare [they were 4 color, now we use 8 color]. Don't let us stop you for ordering from Big W, but their equvilant price is $73 on special:

    http://www.bigwphotos.com.au/order_digital_photo_gifts_canva…

If for whatever reason you are unhappy with the colours, we will refund. We take photos of everything we make which we can show you so you can be assured of the quality. Yes, our turn around for this price will be slow. If you need it expedited that is fine, just message us and we will quote courier deliver.

We can take credit card on this offer with no surcharge [using paypal] but if you can pay with bank, please do. We work hard to offer such deals and every % counts.

    Check out the machine here anyway;

    • i don't care for a refund. We needed the prints for a gift, and that event has now passed. We were extremely disappointed that we received the wrong size frames, the poor colour reproduction and it was delivered about 2 weeks later than when we were quoted before we ordered.

lucky we have forums such as Ozbargain so we can tell potential new customers about our experiences, otherwise, they would never know !!!

      • I'm not sure that the ozbargainers are the specific market that many business try to tap into? i.e If the price is 1cent lower somewhere else, they lose 100% of their business. However, if they can sway the average punter who would not otherwise buy their product — then they are in front….

        think big picture.

      • "They were much bigger, and not suitable for where we wanted to put them"
"We needed the prints for a gift, and that event has now passed"- JV

Sounds like you actually wanted them for your house!

"We take photos of everything we make"

Excuse me, I do not recall giving you permission to make and keep copies of my photos ??

What make you think you are allowed to do this ???

      • +1

We've only just started doing it jv. It's for people wanting to see how it turned out on canvas before dispatch.

      • -1

For once I agree with jv. Hope the people whose photos you're taking now have your permission.

        • +3

Hey Sean, of course. The photos are solely for them, to improve the transaction so customers can see the status of their order. We print so many photos every year, we know how important privacy is.

      • +1

When you upload photos, they already have a copy of the digital file.
If they really want to steal your photo, why take a copy of the printed photo?

This is a process of documenting the process, without intend to steal your image for profit purpose.

        • When you upload photos, they already have a copy of the digital file.

why should they be allowed to store it without your permission after the product is delivered ?

where on their website to they say they will keep your photo, and where do they ask you for permission to keep your photo?

    • How much for shipping and how much extra for faster delivery?

i.e shipping to Sydney (2000) in or before two weeks time?

      • -3

Hey Eagle, its $45 delivered for this promo AU wide. If you need it faster, we can get it to you in 2-3 weeks time for $69, or $110 in about 2-3 days.

        • That IS slow. Even artscow shipping from HK could better that most of the time.

  • I am going to try one and see what it is like.

  • +1

I have only used Victory Printing once, and I was very happy with the output.
Delivery was a little slow, but I did get emails.

    • Hey esb, glad you liked it. Slow turnaround has always been our model, we can always organise fast turnaround as required too.

  • I'm interested, but when do you expect we would all receive our orders?

'slow turnaround' - can you give an exact date or what are we talking, we should receive in exactly 1 months time or something??

  • For easy, sj2can, by comparing with the canvas from Bigw, which one is better in terms of the quality._MG_9423.CR2

    • I have had prints from bigW, not canvas. very unimpressed, but they were cheap and all i need was photos of holiday snaps quality not essential.

  • By choosing us, you will get a better quality print @ a better price. You just need to pick your turnaround option. If you are in no rush at all, go the $45 option. If you need it in 2-3 weeks you can pay a little extra.

I'm pretty sure arts-cow don't even spray laminate - based on the comments I've seen about ink rubbing off. You can wash ours and they are good to go. Don't forget to + vote this if you are taking it up guys.

I didn't intend this to get onto Ozb, so apologies for the lack of detail. Will write more tomorrow. If you have any questions plz email direct : [email protected]

  • I am sorry, but I don't think I understand. Your customer service model is to be slow with delivery? Really? Also, you never really state how long people can expect to wait for delivery. Is the photo you take so that people who bought them as gifts actually have something to give to the person while they wait for the canvas?

By the way, I am pleased to see you offering good deals again (especially as your regular prices have jumped significantly since I last looked at ordering from you guys) and I am interested in ordering. I am not trying to be difficult.

    • Also, you never really state how long people can expect to wait for delivery.

i was quoted 3 weeks and it took between 5-6 weeks to receive them.

  • i asked when to expect delivery but they ignored me…I will be buying elsewhere.
