I bought the Kogan branded one. The tip got really hot after putting in 3-4 PSI and slowed down significantly after that. Not sure how this one will go.

      Thanks for the tip!

        Thanks for the hot tip!

Getting hot is normal on any, even a brass end on a hand pump will get hot from the friction of the air. Clearly the rest of what you said makes it sound like a dud. Just expect that a metal tip will always get hot regardless (except is large metal fittings like the spanner looking ones for car tires, those have enough surface area to conduct away the heat that you don't really get taht).

How does it fill a tyre with 1s and 0s?

    • +10

      With good compression.

      You use your fingers.

    Probably worth reading here:

Reviews here are substantially less than encouraging … https://www.amazon.com.au/STANLEY-HRC120DS-Rechargeable-Cord…

    • Not surprised. Looking at it I'd say it's Stanley in name only, doesn't look like anything else they make other than being yellow.

      • +2

Stanley has long been bought out by Black and Decker with dewalt as their mainstream flagship and Stanley as their budget crapshoot with a semi premium price to cash in on the brand's former reputation.

  • What's with the recent deals for portable air compressors?

    Is this a COVID thing?

    • +2

Yep inflation cannot be brought down by disease

    • +2

It's to counteract COVID induced deflation.

    • It can be used as a ventilator at a pinch

    • +2

A price reduction is long overdue. I've always thought their price was inflated.

  • Requires 120V to charge?

Could this also be used as an air blower to blow dust out of my pc? or tyres only?

    • Wondering the same thing. Similar tools that advertise specifically being made for Air Dusting are all $100 plus so this would be a much cheaper alternative….if it can be used.

Wouldn’t it be better to use a bicycle pump with a ball pump tip? I do that to scare the birds out of my garden bed

Just received this. DOA. Frustrating as I purchased a Steam Mop and it was DOA and this was the credit I got back from it…

    • In case anyone comes back here at a future date for reviews- I bought 2 of these. One for myself and one for my dad. Both DOA. Will look like they are taking a charge, but they won't turn on.

      • Mine too. It works from car charger though. So you could keep it as an emergency and get the refund from kogan like I've done

        • I hadn't thought to try it on the car charger! So, got a refund from Kogan, bought replacement units from Repco, and have super emergency backups. Thank you!
