[Prime, NSW] Free 1 Day Shipping on Prime Products @ Amazon AU (Selected Items/Areas)

It seems Amazon is giving one day free shipping on all in stock prime supported products some items. Earlier it used to be 2 day free shipping.

  • Update
Free One Day Prime Delivery will only apply to certain products that are in-stock at an Amazon Warehouse near your delivery address. It is not a universal guarantee by Amazon as it appears to apply on a per-item basis. It appears to only be available in NSW at the moment (no such option in VIC, SA, WA addresses) and we suspect it would only be metro areas. Please report the deal if you see otherwise.

Same. When I look at Amazon now, for any prime item, it says delivery is by Friday which is like 5 business days! I'm not sure there is any deal.

    • For some items it even says delivered 1/9-14/9 or simply says by a day which is two weeks later. If it is dispatched, normally will be delivered next day or at the latest two day after. But the problem is that you will never know when it will be dispatched.

      • I get the shipped noticed the same or next day … then it goes into the AusPost Sorting Centre, (located at Blackhole, Melbourne}, and sits there until someone finds it where it's fallen off the conveyor.

        eg.
Ordered 17/08, shipped 18/08, twiddle twiddle, now says being delivered 31/08.
Ordered 28/08, shipped 28/08, supposedly going to be delivered 10/09 - of that I have no faith.

I could drive to the warehouse and back in 90 mins with a stop for a coffee.

ATM, apart from the extras you get with Prime, there is no real advantage of Prime when it comes to shipping, from my POV.

        • Ha! The item ordered on 28/08 arrived today … meanwhile the one on the 17/08 is still languishing around in the AusPost blackhole.

    • Yes, same in Brisbane.

    • Melbourne here - atm I'm getting delivery by Tuesday September 8, or 1/9-14/9. I thought this thread was saying Express delivery is now free, but that's still $9.99.

Lately delivery in Melbourne has been inconsistent. An order made on August 20 is arriving today (estimate was Aug 31) via Amazon's drivers, though it also includes an order made Aug 24 (estimate was Sep 4). An order made on August 12 was split into an AusPost and an Amazon delivery, arriving Aug 15 and Aug 17 respectively. These were all items too large to arrive by postie.

I see OP is in Sydney, which explains why he's getting good delivery lately. Many AusPost VIC-to-VIC packages are processed via NSW. Sounds ridiculous but AusPost says that's the most efficient way to deal with the demand here (~67% of the usual workforce; ~150% of the usual demand)

  • Looking forward to it!
    All the best,
    OB
    Black stump,
    Woop Woop

  • Isn't Prime already have free shipping?

    edit:

    Understand now, One Day

  • Fast shipping is great and all, but I find my orders don't even dispatch until 24-48 hours after I order it, even if the product page says I'd get it Friday with Prime delivery (for something I ordered on Tuesday morning). Now I'm on track to get it Monday or Tuesday from AusPost (dispatch notification and tracking received on Thursday afternoon). I'm in Perth if that makes a difference.

    Hope they improve dispatch times..

    • just contact them and they'll give u some credit for a late delivery

  • Not working. Just ordered stuff. Got usual 2 days delivery.

  • Tried 2 items, 1 was alcohol 1 was a small bag of lollies.

They had Thursday and Friday next week as free shipping

  • Forget about one day delivery. I just want my deliveries to turn up in one piece. Just about every delivery (not just Amazon) I've had lately the box is damaged or open. Or delivered to the wrong house.

Not sure if this is associated, but I received a card in my mail last week from AP advising they are going to to deliver mail every second day only. I assume this to be Monday, Wednesday and Friday - but it wasn't confirmed. As AP have been working with Amazon deliveries and seeing this post, would lead me to believe there may well be more money for AP to offer this kind of service than what they are reciving for mail deliveries. Note that the card did say that all express deliveries would proceed as normal - also following this new Amazon approach.

Fianally, while I have no afffiliation wityh Amazon, I am working for a company that is installing their pick up lockers all over the country - where they are aiming to have 400 locations up and running by Dec 31. This is a big push by Amazon right now, where they are certainly striking whilst the COVID iron is hottest.

They can’t even do 2 day shipping right now with Australia post being slower than ever so no idea how they’re gonna do 1 day shipping. Must be very specific postcode in same city and the amazon warehouse

    • I've had orders come in from the Melbourne warehouse (I think Dandenong South) and I live in Sydney; they get in to Amazon's logistics hub (or one of them) at Regents Park overnight and I would usually receive it later that afternoon.

Presumably, Amazon Logistics are piggy backing off Toll or Star Track flights to Bankstown Airport and transporting it to Regents Park and sorting it from there unless they now have their own planes like in the US.

Meanwhile, Amazon AU's international shipping is still somewhat hit and miss and they dont dispatch out until usually one week prior to the ETA but then again if you pay Priority, they will put it on a UPS, DHL, or Fedex consignment and it will be hear within 3 days or so..

  • I ordered two things last night and they just got dispatched this afternoon, says I'll get it tomorrow. Tracking says Amazon logistics, not Auspost so I might actually get it tomorrow.

you 99% would get it tomorrow, Ive had plenty deliveries from amazon logistics and very quick, its kind of like Uber Eats, amazon employs people to drive to deliver the parcels to their destination.

    • "Amazon logistics" = https://flex.amazon.com

    • You'll know they're Flex delivered as there's no Auspost or Aramex labels on them just your name and address.

  • is this free shipping on all products or its about 1 day free delivery - confused!

    • Next day delivery on Prime products, I.e. products fulfilled by Amazon.

  • I am not getting the 1 day free delivery, tried various items including the lego example given in the OP. I can only use the express delivery for $10, but the free delivery if I order now will deliver on Friday, 4 September. I'm in Sydney Metro.
