Slightly cheaper than the last deal @ $109 for those who missed out, but you'll have to wait a bit.

I believe this is the cheapest price that has been honored.

  • Thanks OP got 1.

  • +5

I ordered and cancelled back in June at 119.

I ordered and cancelled a week back at 109.

Lets see if it will stick time. I just don't really need another drive.

    • +7

If they want to drop the price further to $99 next week I'm happy to cancel again.

is this drive SMR and shuckable?

  • Would this work with a PS4?

    • Yes

      • +1

        It's faster enough for games?

        $100 is cheap

I really need a PC, I got like 5 external drives lol

        • What do you mean is it fast enough lol?

          • @Mooncakes: like 100megawatts per second?lol

    • +1

As an external drive, yes. Internal it's probably too thick.

  • by the time 2 months later probably price dropped 20%.

    • +7

Thats why you keep an eye on it and cancel as required.

Also, 105 is pretty much historical lows for a 4TB, if you need a drive, you can't really go wrong.

    • I have an estimate of "Arriving Sep 23 - Oct 11". They are usually conservative with their estimates so it could ship sooner.

But if they want to drop the price again, I'm happy to cancel and reorder.

    Is this a shingled drive?

    • +3

Probably more likely to have covid than shingles

  • Does this provide auto folder backups for mac? Not in time machine format.

  • -2

    Thanks, bought 3.

  • +3

    Is it shuckable?

    • +2

Being a seagate, should be a yes.

    • +1

      Yes, its a 15mm drive.

      • +1

Ok, so it doesn fit into most 2.5” bays

  • How do failure rates with external HDDs work? Is this model particularly good or bad?

    • +1

I've had a ton of Seagate portables. Never had one die, but it's only a small sample size. I don't have the official fail rate stats.

      • Had two die, a 880gb and a 1.5tb. But still ordered.

        • +4

Have 3 for about 4 years or so still going strong, had 1 1TB WD drive die on me within month. Honestly it seems like HDD are just a lucky dip.

  • +1

    smr drive?

    • sure, all Seagate 2.5 hdd is smr.

  • is it me doing anything wrong? i couldn't see it at A$105.16… ???

    • +3

It's not you. Fun's over. Sorry. Didn't last long. Might not be the first time I've had to say that unfortunately.

  • It looks like it's sold out? I can't see that price

    • Add to wishlist and keep an eye on it.

Amazon stock goes from in stock, low stock, back order, to temporarily unavailable but can still order, to completely removed. There are thresholds for amount of orders they take for back order and temp unavailable. If it exceeds it, they remove from sale, but price might still remain the same when they bring it back.

  • wow, that was quick

    • That's what she said

  • +1

What happened with the old $12 SSDs that were on here the other day, the listing has been removed on OzBargain and Amazon

    • I bought the 480gb one they had for $13, still hasn't shipped

    • Which one?

      • The deal got taken down due to insufficient quantity but its a cheap golden fir ssd, not exactly the fastest but for $13 and 480gb its faster than a hard drive.

        • Oh right, I wondered why it got taken down, I managed to grab one and that's pretty rare haha although tbh I have no idea what to use it for

  • how this compare to WD passport?

    • similar. But WD are not shuckable if that is important to you.

The last time I had WDs, they were 2TB, and compared to 2TB Seagates they were bigger and thicker. For that reason I always preferred the Seagates. But 4TB is no longer slim.

  • ordered one a few days ago at $105, was not aware it was a deal :O

  • What's the spinning speed, is it 7200rmp?

  • Good deal, but doesnt this come with a 1 year Seagate warranty only?

  • Am after a 'set and forget' automated backup solution, would this harddrive & its software be a good choice?

  • Hello, unfortunate I missed out on this one, but would the 5TB at $171 be considered a good deal?

    • not the best price, but when you need it, you need it.

      • Thanks for that

  • Price went up to $158.37 last night unless I'm missing something to still get on the backorder?
