How to Maximise Benefit of Amazon Prime Account?

I read a thread here on amazon prime, and how people maximise their subscriptions.

Aside from the usual, ordering small items and paying no post.

I recall people use a price watch to track amazon items, and alert them when a price is reached. Further using Prime video.

Is there any other hints on a first time Amazon Prime user?

Prime video is bundled in your subscription for free as well as some storage features you can find in your account.

Kindle has tons of free books if you're Prime too.

Amazon Music has over 2 million free songs included.

One of the best price trackers is http://au.camelcamelcamel.com

Some products have a feature that allow you collate them for delivery at a set date if you don't need them quickly and this grants you some free credit.

    • There's so many great series on prime video. I also use Amazon music every day, love it.

I hope ppl are not buying small items just for the sake of free postage unless they need them

I agree, large unwanted items should also be purchased.

I know some TA's that do this to get Amazon packaging as a bonus for their postings :)

it almost feels as though you want the cardboard box and inflatable air cushion bag industry to go out of business.

annoys the crap out of me when people say "bought it, don't know why though"

its not a bargain if you had no intention of buying it… save your damned money

It's not taking advantage of Prime, its just abusing it.

    • isn't there a threshold like $39 or $49 you need to reach before it's consider free delivery? So they can't buy $2 worth and expect free postage.

      • its free postage all the way (Prime ones at least), even products that cost 1 dollar.

        • Then what’s the threshold set for? Is it for people without prime?
I don’t quite understanding how this free shipping works, I just put something in my cart that’s under $49 and tried to check out (it’s shipped from amazon US) and the shipping options are all not free. When I add another item and push it over the $49, it gives the option of free shipping with prime.

@roofyapple: Items from Amazon AU are free shipping with Prime without a minimum. Items from Amazon US have a $49 minimum.

  • Why do prices on amazon fluctuate sometimes ?

I’m not talking few dollars, but like 100% increase

It can be much worse than that; prices may vary massively in a short timeframe… or, like almost every Amazon 'deal' posted here, savings disappear entirely in minutes.

See this thread for an example and see the price of that item right now.

Amazon deals are more game than store.

      Dynamic pricing for one.
Another reason can be different sellers (item sold by Amazon @$10 sold out, gets replaced by same item sold by 3rd parties @$90).

    • +1

Amazon prices are dynamically priced, meaning that prices increase with demand.
However, I have bought a product before and 2 weeks later I have seen a $30 decrease in price. They advised me to buy a new one and just refund it with the old order to get the price adjustment.

I signed up for the one month Prime trial just to get free shipping on an item I wanted. Amazon sent me an email listing all the benefits of Prime and I was hooked. Love Prime Video and the Kindle services.

Yeah, I signed up for Prime day last year, cancelled before it renewed, ended up getting it again within 6 weeks for something else, so just paid for an annual membership. Pays for itself in no time. Prime video is a great addition to the service, I find most of the free tier kindle stuff is pretty garbage though.

      • I agree about the amazon kindle content. I got free three months of Kindle Unlimited when I brought my Kindle Paperwhite but its definitely not something I'd pay for. I didn't realise Amazon Prime offered a yearly payment option.

        • +1

Yeah, it's cheaper to pay annual rather than monthly.

@conan2000: Brilliant! Just changed over my Prime plan to yearly. $84 compared to $59, awesome. Thank you.
